I was thinking during the weekend of doing a let's and downloaded the free version of Bandicam and I started playing around making some videos. I want to do a let's play and I notice from other peoples lets plays (I know not all Minecrafters do this) but they start out spending 5 mins coming up with a name and punching trees and its usually by the third episode they have a shelter everything.
My question is could I just start with a house allready built? or maybe just the first floor? cause I have a house design I like and I thought why don't I just build part of it.
Also, how do you make it interesting?
I was also thinking of making a "What not to do in minecraft" and I have a video called "Don't hug a creeper" but I have the free version of Bandicam and I don't think 10 mins really gives me enough time to make a good video, I was also thinking about maybe just doing custom maps.
I might not be a huge successful Let's Player, but in my experience, I think it would be best if instead of having any of the house built, why not gather the basic materials and such, then the first episode could be about the house design and what not, the next few can be contributing to gathering materials and building. Then you just build on from there. It's your show to do with it how you must.
How do you make it interesting? Never, I mean never, have blank spots where the audience can here the sound of the non-existent wind. Always have some conversation, you'll see most let's players yelling at the things around them, adding humor to the video or telling a story. Try to avoid situations where you find yourself voicing your opinion to strongly as it will drive people away from the part and ultimately the video. Always know what you want to do with the episode and how long the episode will be.
The video ideas are your own things, I suggest making a episode and putting it out there and trying to gain real feedback.
The Bandicam situation is a easily resolved one, get FRAPS. It's a great investment and with it you'll get far. It's not free, and the files are big, but if you're serious about being a Youtuber, it's just one of the costs.
If you are thinking about doing custom maps, look for ones people haven't really done yet, then ask the maker, when you have the videos all up, to feature the first one or two episodes on the forum post, this is how I got started and got my name out a little.
If you need any future advice feel free to add me on Skype, if you don't have one, I strongly suggest getting one.
