So it occurs to me that, currently, Mindcrack's UHC series gets a lot of attention.
And they're good. No question. They've been doing it for a while, and have gotten good to be survivors.
But why should Mindcrack players get all the fun and attention?
If you are a good PvP player, or if you want to become a good PvP player,
If you currently have a YouTube series
If you want to work together to give attention to all of the people you work with
Then I want to do a UHC series with you.

Rules:
#1: You must be able to adjust your video so that you cannot see in light level 0.
Looking at Mindcrack's games, and players, it's clear that some of them can see the caves that they are in when in "darkness", with no torches around. That's ... well, for me, it ruins the point of the game if you don't need torches to see.
#2: You should be able to tell light level 1 from 0, and be able to identify what you're looking at at light level 2.
Between these two rules, you have a decently standard color calibration for the darker sections of the caves, so that the various players are looking at equivalent displays.
#3: We need to agree on a game "brightness" setting.
This point is simply so that everyone's output video is comparable to everyone else's. For me, I can make #1 and #2 work at any brightness between 68 and 76; at this range the "greyscale" going from light level 1 to light level 14 (torchlight) is fairly smooth and even.
#4: For voice chatting, I much prefer Mumble to Skype. Voice volume level is controlled by Mumble very nicely (much better than Skype), and Mumble permits positional information (so you hear people from the direction that they are in). This is not a hard rule, just a recommendation.
#5: Important: Everyone links to everyone else's YouTube channels in their uploads for these. If you are not willing to help others get views, then I'd rather work with people who do.
My timezone is PDT (utc - 7). I am currently still running 1.2.5; I would like to do a "dry run" this Sunday (three days from now). No client mods are needed -- a bukkit plugin exists to provide all the UHC features server-side (showing player health as numbers on their name, instead of heart symbols). I would like to know if there are any client side mods that people would like to use (for example: I like What's My Light Level, even if only for co-ordinate locations and not displaying the light level or time of day. Assuming it is updated for multiplayer, I'd love to use Somnia to permit sleeping to trade food for hearts over time -- and leaving you exposed to other players who find you and attack you while you sleep). I figure that a "real first season" can be done a week later with 1.3.2 (bukkit and plugins should be updated and stable by then, and the safety/bug-fixed-ness of 1.3.2 should be clear by then as well. Given that 1.3.1 can kill you for using a Nether Portal, it is a no-go for this right now.)
My system can handle at least 4, probably 6-8 people. It has not been tested in bigger stress tests yet. If you have a system that can handle more, and want to host, let me know.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
