Yeah they were working fine before but recently they started recording a lot of static, I'm not sure if it is because of the headset or something else.

Dam and yeah I been hearing reviews about background noise with TBX11's. Oh well. I would also like to know what are some good headsets so I can get my LP up and going.
Kahroo: I'm not sure how it is done by them right off. If I had to find a way to do it myself without buying any unneeded things then I would record the LP like normal and then parallel record my face/voice. I think Sony Vegas has a way to stream two video at once, you could just add the voice/face in a corner somewhere and synch the sound up right. All that being said, I'm sure there is probably a program somewhere for all of this.

Depending on how expensive you want to get, the quality of mine are pretty top-notch but they are about $30.

If I get enough people making suggestions for microphones I might add it as a section of its own.

That one looks good, I may even buy it. And I think you should make a section for headsets.
I agree that it would be helpful. The problem would be that there are a lot more headsets than there are video software so I would only be able to go based on suggestions.

AT the moment i record with Camtasia (In lossless) and edit in Vegas (render to 1280 x 720 HD) The files takes abt and hour to render and 2 hrs to upload to Youtube. Can anybody help me out with this?
The only way to reduce the time would be to reduce the quality of the video. Personally, I would suggest that you keep the quality where it is and just make a video a day, any more and you lose a lot views and (If you are like me) the quality of you commentary might take a hit.

Why is adobe premiere elements not on the editing software list?
I second that sentiment. I've tried both Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas and eventually decided on Adobe Premiere for my Minecraft LP series. Adobe Premiere costs $99 for the entry-level version (Adobe Premiere Elements) and $799 for the pro version (Adobe Premiere Pro CS5).
6. Be Professional
For the titles and descriptions, have proper spelling and capitalization. You don't have to be a perfect grammar nazi, but you really should take it seriously enough to include basic grammer. I have seen very few successful commentators who neglected to have basic language skills. If you are foreign then you get more lee-way on this, but it might be worth getting a friend to proof read it before posting. Having a set formula for your title/description might help reduce the problem. A fill-in-the-blank and copy/paste formula saves a lot of time.
Me and my friends are amateur Let's Players. We're thinking about doing a group Minecraft one, but we aren't sure if we have enough... I don't know, flavor for it yet. We have 16 subscribers (yay!) and almost 2k views... since our forming in January.
But very good thread, offers really valuable advice.
Hmm....I was going to use Windows Live Movie Maker. But do you think Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere would work on my laptop?
System:
2GBs OF DDR2 RAM
Intel Centrino Dou CPU @1.60 GHz
Intergrated Intel 945 Express chipset
Dude, unless you're planning on doing a lot of fancy editing, Windows Movie Maker (even the Live movie maker) is plenty sufficient. I'd personally suggest 2.6 because you can create custom profiles with Windows Media Profile Editor and it's overall a better program, but the most recent update of Windows Live MM lets you set custom bitrates, so that'd be a bit easier to implement.
Speaking of which, it's been a while since I even looked at this thread, but I see a bit of good advice is missing and since I've finally gotten around to checking, may as well put it out there.
BITRATE:
All too often I see people putting up videos, especially HD ones, where the bitrate is too low to provide an enjoyable viewing experience. I don't have the most experience with some of the newer, fancier codecs like H.264 (none of my programs can really use it for rendering edited videos that I've found), so I'm not going to talk too much on them.
I'll start at the general upper bound: 1080p.
Personally, I've found 15MB/s video, 256kb/s audio to be very successful in 1080p videos. Even after youtube's re-compression, it generally looks clear and pleasing to the eyes. (Only tested with WMV9 Advanced Profile video & WMA 10 Pro audio codecs. Others may operate similarly.)
For 720p:
12 MB/s video, 192 kb/s audio. While, as stated before, youtube's re-compression can screw over even 720p videos, this produces a very watchable quality in my experience. (Tested with WMV9 Advanced Profile video & WMA 10 Pro audio codecs.) This is the one I have the most issue with because I see so many people throwing videos out there in HD to ride the "HD = more views because SD is old and terrible!!!111" bandwagon, while their bitrate would barely be acceptable for 480p. If your internet can't handle higher bitrates, I'd suggest sacrificing HD. A decent bitrate 480p is better than a poor bitrate 720p.
That got a little bit into the rant territory, but you want to provide good content for your viewers. Charisma can make up for it, but only to a certain extent. (People watching on phones or ipods or whatever probably won't care because their devices can't handle high res anyways, or at least not well enough for it to be worth it.)
However, if you use H.264 video codec, you can probably get away with more like 3 MB/s bitrate. hpaw.net uses this for their downloadable HD videos, and the quality is very nice. (Then again, it doesn't have to go through youtube's re-encoding there, so it'd probably be best to run a higher bitrate.)
480p:
4 MB/s video, 160 kb/s audio. (Tested with WMV9 Advanced Profile video & WMA 10 Pro audio codecs and MPEG Layer 2 audio/video codecs.)
While youtube hits any non-HD res real hard on the re-encoding, providing the best possible quality is never a bad idea.
Experimenting with other codecs and bitrates is worth the time, but these ones I've found to be tried and true.
Whenever I record my Minecraft videos in FRAPS, they record fine and in the native resolution. However when I run them through WMM, if I select any of the profiles suggested (920x720), the width gets scrunched so that it is perfectly square (and awful looking). This goes for all of my HD Profiles. If I upload the FRAPS file itself it sets itself to 848x720 on YouTube and there are black boxes on the left and right sides (and I cannot do basic editting, outside of the YouTube Annotations).
Poison: There is no definitive rule as far as texture packs go, so this is largely based on opinion, but I'd say to just use the default. It holds more universal appeal because:
a: Everyone knows it
b: The vast majority won't outright refuse to watch it because there isn't a texture pack (Whereas they might if it is texture packed)
c: Bandwagoning. The majority of popular LPers just use the default. You are less likely to alienate a group and it looks more professional in general.
That being said, if you do go with a texture pack, make it easy to identify items. It is annoying to not know what an item/block is because of a texture pack. Higher HD versions of the default might be good for this.
AJ: If you use WMM you can put the video footage into the track and then click to add music and place the sound overtop of it. If you don't know how to do that, then there are plenty of guides floating around for adding music to WMM
Jesel: It sounds like you will need to do some editing if you want to get rid of or at least minimize the box. WMM is free to download if you have a PC and can alter the resolution to minimize the bars on the side by telling it to do 16:9 on the Project tab.

I am planning for another revamp of the formatting to further break up the catagories. Once that is done I'll be updating it to V1.6.
