I'm reviving this thread after another lengthy hiatus. I apologize, I recently bought a house with my boyfriend and getting everything moved in and settled has been a mess. Things have calmed down quite a bit so I thought I would try to open this up again and see what sort of response I get because I closed down right after I started charging for my work. Hey there! I'm Caitlin.
I'm sure you have quite a few questions about why I don't offer my services for free. That's simple - I do this for a living. That means it is my source of income to live. I've always loved helping people around this forum with whatever design work they're in need of. The community is very responsive and appreciative. At some point, though, I need a bit more.
How much do you know of graphic design? Many of the users here are under the age of 18 and utilize image editing software as a hobby. This is a great place to allow them practice while helping their fellow Minecraft-lovers. That is exactly what I did. I've had numerous threads helping hundreds of people while helping myself get better. I'm at the point now where I am getting hired for professional work by businesses and artists alike.
I'd like to put some things into perspective for you. If a client contacts me in need of a logo, whether it be a simple "ShopHere.com" text-based image, they will pay me $100. That is the base price. Can you imagine? Obviously, many of you are not making serious businesses running Minecraft servers, so to assume that you can afford $100 for one image is absurd. But asking for nothing at all? That's even worse.
My prices are fair for what I'm offering. You will get top quality for what you'd expect and the proof is right in front of you if you do a bit of digging. My motto has always been you get what you pay for. Sure, some things that are free come out great! But when I have been paid for a project, I have an obligation to provide you with the best work I can produce and make sure you are absolutely satisfied with the final product. I'm not practicing, I'm working.
I hope this helps shed some light on why I don't work for free! I intend to do a "free weekend" and things of the sort where you can receive one or two free graphics of your choice. So keep checking back for that!

Do you know what you want? Then simply just tell me. The more information and resources you provide me, the better! If you forget something, I'll fill in the blanks. Don't let that happen too often though because if you're unhappy with it, I'll change it to your liking but not more than once or twice. Just get it all out up front and everyone will be much, much happier!
I also wanted to note that I can animate the images if it's fairly simple, I'm still new to the process!

-the light stroke "S";
could you make it multiple light strokes? One blue, one yellow, one green?
and it looks a little jagged, maybe softer turns would be nice.
p.s. When i do strokes like that, i find it easiest to use the pen tool to create a path, then stroke the path with a brush...then mess with layer syles (outer glow and inner glow)

I opted out of using the pen tool because I liked the jagged look. It isn't drawn, it's a font. I'll re-work it in a bit.
I tried the orange and black with a blue border and it looked kinda horrible, lol. So I made this instead:
