Hello there!
Recently, for my new SMP, I created a datapack which revamps a whole lot of vanilla, but most importantly world-gen. The goal was to create a pack that brought the newer blocks and features of Minecraft back to an old 2012-styled SMP. Many blocks, items, and mobs were removed, but I wanted to keep many features that just made sense for Minecraft, like multiple kinds of trapdoors. Essentially, I made the newer versions of Minecraft much, much simpler.
Here are some of the new(ish) mushroom and birch forest biomes with a mountain in the far distance
The caves are now much more like the old alpha caves. The cave blobs are also biome-dependent, with blackstone and prismarine generating at the deepest depths depending on you surface biome
Here is a screenshot of the still very bare-bones nether. Many vanilla overworld baddies now lurk in these caves
There are quite a few changes that also majorly change the progression and flow of the game.
Enchanting has almost entirely been removed, with only the most basic and least overpowered enchantments remaining in chest and fishing loot tables.
The hopper has been removed. This is to remove fully automatic storage and farms.
The End has been removed. I plan on adding a skylands dimension similar to the Aether, but the End loot is far too overpowered for my little datapack. The elytra's removal also promotes usage of the 3 main modes of transport, not including walking, being: donkeys (horses have been removed and saddles are craftable), minecarts, and nether travel.
Immediately upon familiarizing yourself with these changes, you subconsciously start building smaller. Here are some photos of my progress over the last week in the SMP:
Thanks for reading my post. I really enjoyed making this datapack. You may see me on these forums again soon with more screenshots. Of course, let me know if you would like to try it out on the server.
