How can a video game prepare you for real world engineering?
Another year and another career day at my wife's elementary school. My goal is to get them excited in the careers of engineering. Normally I talk with them about mechanical engineering, but this year I am going to shake it up and demonstrate electrical engineering. Many of her kids are very familiar with some version of Minecraft so they have been exposed to Redstone. I am going use the game to create circuits and show how these circuits can be used in real world applications. The students will recreate the circuits show in the game with flash cards. The students will then flip the cards over exposing the electric symbols creating a real schematic.
The students will be given the opportunity to create a real life Minecraft circuit with some teaching aid blocks I am creating.
You can see the development of the blocks here. These are for my personal use only!
