USS President
The USS President was another sister ship to the Constitution. Her design was altered midway through construction, lowering her hull, making her swifter and sleeker. She proved to be the fastest of the three ships.
I will post more screenshots as soon as I update the ones on planetminecraft
USS Constellation
The USS Constellation was a smaller frigate. Still one of the original six frigates of the United States navy, she distinguished herself in several battles in the Quasi-War with France.
This ship was a small, 32-gun corvette/light frigate/thing that I built on a survival server. She was the second ship I have ever built, and, for a ship only 29 blocks long (excluding the bowsprit), I am happy with her. This ship is not an exact replica; things like the glass panes were added in my creative rebuild of the ship in single player, but all the fence and wood and gold, etc, are authentic.
This ship is a fictional 74-gun third-rate ship of the line. She was my second fictional ship, the first being the Notch, and she was my largest build ever at the time.
This is a fictional 44-gun razee (a razee was a ship of the line with the upper decks cut off, therefore re-classifying the ship as a frigate). She is based on the Bermuda.
This is the HMS Surprise from the movie "Master and Commander, the Far Side of the World," and from several books in the Aubrey-Maturin series. She is exactly 1:1 scale, which was difficult, considering that the ship is relatively small and blocks are large, but I am proud of her.
I reckon most of you know this ship. This is Jack Sparrow's ship throughout the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie series that seems to spend most of its time captained by Hector Barbossa.
This is a festive ship built as a Christmas special. She was my first themed ship. She is a merchant brig, and was my second smallest ship when she was built.
This was my second themed build ever. She is a retextured Superior, but I also reworked the bow, which I felt was too bluff in the Superior, and I made a few alterations to the captain's cabin. I know it may sound weird, but this ship came to me in a dream, and I still wish I could have captured its full splendor in minecraft blocks.
This was my third themed build. She is a fictional galleon, somewhat in the theme of the Flying Dutchman from "Pirates of the Caribbean." She is one of my largest builds ever, and one of my favorites.
This was another ship that came to me in a dream. She is a fictional 92-gun ship of the line/galleon, and is an extensively reworked version of the Eternal. In what I find to be an interesting twist, there was an actual ship called the HMS Majestic, which participated in the Battle of the Nile, and, as well as having an ancestor who was a sailor on the Constitution in the War of 1812, I have an ancestor who was part of the crew aboard the Majestic during the Battle of the Nile.
The Polychrest is my third build for the Aubrey-Maturin series. This is Aubrey's ship in "Post Captain" It was difficult to build her, there being no paintings/images to work from--only blueprints, but it was a fun build.
The HMS Lively is the fourth ship that I have built for the Aubery-Maturin series. Jack commands her early on in HMS Surprise. She was an extremely fast ship, and her crew were well trained. This is my first British 32 gun frigate. In my builds, she more or less straddles the gap between the Constellation and Surprise.
The Boadicea was one of Jack Aubrey's two commands in the fourth book in the Aubrey-Maturin series, "The Mauritius Command." This is a fairly typical English 38, and this project might return as the base for a model of the HMS Java that I plan to build for the 201st anniversary of the USS Constitution's victory over the Java.
This is the other ship that Jack Aubrey commands in 'The Mauritius Command". She is an old ship--supposedly built fifty years before the story takes place, and, "if she fired a full broadside she might fall apart." With this weakness, she would likely have not carried any great press of sail, and so I decided to have her under topsails, topmast-staysails, driver, and jibs only. She is the first ship I have done this with. I would have liked to make her a bit lower, but, because of the dimensions of blocks, I had to make her a bit taller than I would have liked.
This is Jack Aubrey's ship in Desolation Island. She is a real ship, though the events in the novel never happened to her. She is most famous, or infamous, for the "Chesapeake-Leopard Affair." Mentioned in the novel, the 50-gun Leopard attempted to impress--or steal--sailors from the 36-gun Chesapeake. When the Chesapeake refused, the British ship fired a full broadside into the American. When building the ship, I made the decision to build her under fighting sail. This is mostly because, like the Raisonnable, the Leopard
This is the HMS Ariel from The Surgeon's Mate. She is a 16-gun ship-rigged sloop. She is described as "a frigate in miniature." Building this ship was somewhat of a challenge; she is one of the smallest ships I have built, and her lack of length and bredth makes it difficult to move around, but I feel that I did the best that I could while still adhering to 1:1 scale.
The HMS Worcester is Jack Aubrey's ship in the novel The Ionian Mission. She is a 74-gun third-rate. She is only the second 74 that I have built, the first being the Bermuda. Looking back at the Bermuda, I see that I have come a long way since I started shipbuilding, and I am proud of this latest work.
The Cacafuego is a 32-gun xebec-frigate. She is Jack Aubrey's opponent in Master and Commander. She is based off of the El Gamo, a xebec-frigate whose battle with the HMS Speedy was the basis for the battle between the Sophie and the Cacafuego. Very little information exists on the El Gamo, so the design of this ship was pretty much just based on a general xebec-frigate.
The Jackdaw is Edward Kenway's ship in the game Assassin's Creed IV; Black Flag. THough she is classified as a brig, her actual class would be somewhere between a brig and a fourth-rate ship of the line, depending on her upgrades. She was difficult to make; the amount of detail involved was not easy to re-create in one-to-one scale, but having the game at my disposal to take measurements was invaluable. A side note; though Ubisoft calls her a brig, the presence of a mainsail would put her closer to a snow.
I agree. My favorite ship is still the Constitution, but the Pearl is also one of my favorites, and thanks!
Yes the Constitution still has that old colonial feel of the States; However, it really shows advancement as a nation, it shows the States are gaining might and they do now have power and sovereignty. It does have the historic ting to it. I suppose at further consideration I do indeed like the Constitution a bit better but the Black Pearl is still my favorite.
Looks very good! My favorite is also the Constitution, she looks very fine. One question being: why are your topsails so small? (Topsails being the sails right above the lowest sails) Normally, topsails would be taller than the lowest sails.

The topsails are so small because I used reference images with the sails furled, and the topsail yards were low, and I never really bothered to completely redo the topsails, topgallants, and royals
Always grand to see more shipbuilders. Before long we'll have taken over the forum!
Some very nice work here. I especially like the way you've done the flag whipping around on Constellation. That might just make her my favourite of these builds.
I guess my main criticism would be that on a few of the ships lower down in your post the sails are a bit narrow, not really extending far past the sides of the ship at all. But then on most of them they're better. And I probably wouldn't have noticed that if you hadn't done the end-on shots. In fact I think a lot of your sails look really similar to the way that I do them. Good stuff.
Also, I love the fact that you've also made a razee from a larger ship. It seemed such an obvious thing to do when I built my first 3rd rate, but you're the only other person I've seen who's done one.

Thanks! I used to have flags on the Constitution, President, and United States, but I was not really satisfied with the way they looked. As for the razee, that was more or less a result of me feeling compelled to create a new, distinctive ship, but being too lazy to build one from scratch . Glad you like it, though!
Man, it seems everyone is getting on board the ship building craze.. Your stuff blows mine out of the water! Very nice work, I love your sails... very very nice. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

...actually, created is a bit much.... Thought of. That's more accurate.
Your stuff, as I said before, is amazing. Suggestion, though, have you thought about putting your images in a spoiler tag, leaving only one or two for a quick idea? The OP has so many pictures, when they're all loading it makes it a bit difficult to read the comments (every picture that loads bumps the text down a bit) and makes the page load s l o w l y . Just an idea.
Anyway, what are you working on now? =)

Thanks! I just figured out how to use the spoiler tag, and I have just implimented that. I'm going to be on vacation next week, and I won't have access to my computer, but when I get back I will be working on the HMS Raisonable and HMS Leopard from the Aubrey-Maturin series. I've been reading those books, and I have been building the ships from the series as I read my way through it.

The Snow Golem
This was my second themed build ever. She is a retextured Superior, but I also reworked the bow, which I felt was too bluff in the Superior, and I made a few alterations to the captain's cabin. I know it may sound weird, but this ship came to me in a dream, and I still wish I could have captured its full splendor in minecraft blocks.

HMS Majestic
This was another ship that came to me in a dream. She is a fictional 92-gun ship of the line/galleon, and is an extensively reworked version of the Eternal. In what I find to be an interesting twist, there was an actual ship called the HMS Majestic, which participated in the Battle of the Nile, and, as well as having an ancestor who was a sailor on the Constitution in the War of 1812, I have an ancestor who was part of the crew aboard the Majestic during the Battle of the Nile.

HMS Raisonnable
This is the other ship that Jack Aubrey commands in 'The Mauritius Command". She is an old ship--supposedly built fifty years before the story takes place, and, "if she fired a full broadside she might fall apart." With this weakness, she would likely have not carried any great press of sail, and so I decided to have her under topsails, topmast-staysails, driver, and jibs only. She is the first ship I have done this with. I would have liked to make her a bit lower, but, because of the dimensions of blocks, I had to make her a bit taller than I would have liked.

HMS Leopard
This is Jack Aubrey's ship in Desolation Island. She is a real ship, though the events in the novel never happened to her. She is most famous, or infamous, for the "Chesapeake-Leopard Affair." Mentioned in the novel, the 50-gun Leopard attempted to impress--or steal--sailors from the 36-gun Chesapeake. When the Chesapeake refused, the British ship fired a full broadside into the American. When building the ship, I made the decision to build her under fighting sail. This is mostly because, like the Raisonnable, the Leopard
was described as an old, rotting ship.

HMS Ariel
This is the HMS Ariel from The Surgeon's Mate. She is a 16-gun ship-rigged sloop. She is described as "a frigate in miniature." Cacafuego
The Cacafuego is a 32-gun xebec-frigate. She is Jack Aubrey's opponent in Master and Commander. Very little information exists on the El Gamo, so the design of this ship was pretty much just based on a general xebec-frigate.

Jackdaw
The Jackdaw is Edward Kenway's ship in the game Assassin's Creed IV; Black Flag. THough she is classified as a brig, her actual class would be somewhere between a brig and a fourth-rate ship of the line, depending on her upgrades. She was difficult to make; the amount of detail involved was not easy to re-create in one-to-one scale, but having the game at my disposal to take measurements was invaluable. A side note; though Ubisoft calls her a brig, the presence of a mainsail would put her closer to a snow.

But I have to conclude that my favorite out of all of your ships has to be the Black Pearl, it is just so alluring.
Keep up the good work, I do say!
The topsails are so small because I used reference images with the sails furled, and the topsail yards were low, and I never really bothered to completely redo the topsails, topgallants, and royals
Thanks! I couldn't have done this without your excellent tutorial!

I checked, I am getting broken image icons for all the pictures.
That's unfortunate, but all the projects are downloadable as MCEdit schematics, so, if all else fails, you can download it and see it in person
That is very true, so I shall. Time to visit a majestic vessel.
EDIT:
Well something has corrected itself, I can now see the images. The yellow lining is a great touch; this is another great ship that you have built.
Thank you!
