I'm so stealing Your design of the rear lantern... Awesome attention to detail and realism, as usual!
As for the Swedish school system, we're socialist b*stards! You'll get loads of free time when You die..
Never stop making these amazing ships!
Thanks for le compliment! I intend to keep working, today should be the last real day, now I have two weeks of empty schooling.

Discipline, Pride, and Courage. A dangerous combination.
The Santa Maria is finito capito. The Santa Maria was Christopher Columbus' ship, the one which sailed with two other ships of caravel design. There are no existing schematics of the Santa Maria, so I built her following Bjorn Landstrom's idea. We know that Columbus disliked the ship, she had "too deep a draught for exploratory work" so I built her as such. The number of sails is correct, though the sizes are open to ideas and change due to a lack of pictures. The flags are rough copies of the flags that would have flown from his ship.

Some proper photos of interiors are coming.

I think you could raise that quarter deck a tiny bit higher. Carracks were pretty high up in the water. Also, that lateen sail could be a bit bigger.
Anyway I like your pirate ship, very menacing looking, specially at night. Good job!

She was probably a carrack, Columbo only called her "La nao" or "the ship" but she was not a caravel, so she was most likely a carrack.
I didn't want to put the quarterdeck very high because of Bjorn's illustrations, which is 2 and 1/2 blocks tall at best:
And I didn't want to make the sides too tall or squish them too far in to accomodate a taller sterncastle, not to mention the forecastle is as tall as the half-deck. But I may make a second model, simply because there are no set guidelines for the Santa Maria.
There is now a poll on which ship you want to see next. Also, if you are capable of terraforming a cliff, bay and surrounding area, please come forward! Don't worry, I don't bite. I am prone to stabbing, slashing, shooting, and chopping, but not biting.

I like the idea of a fort and a bay full of ships. I think it's because were I live we have a 16th century fort and that always fascinates me.
You could also try a fantasy ship, or a Xebec. Xebecs are gorgeous; will probably do one soon.

Well, if I can find a terraformer, I will certainly be able to do the fort.

Yes, the Xebec is a pretty ship. I haven't built anything outlandish yet, no Junks or Xebecs or Longships or whatever. Maybe I should try a couple.

I haven't started another ship since I finished my 2nd rate but I really ought to...
The votes here are inconclusive, so I may take a break and build something else like a Venetian mansion or flaunt my work in the Minescape server. I probably won't make any more videos for a while because I suck at capturing and editing. Thanks for subscribing though!
I have built a Xebec ship, as Sillouette suggested a while ago. Xebecs are from the Mediterranean and normally function as traders. They are propelled by lateen sails and oars, and have two-three masts. My own one didn't turn out perfect, but it is still mostly true to for:
Suggestions and comments are always welcomed in this boozing ken!

I can terrafor-
DONT KILL ME PLEASE! I JUST WANT TO TERRAFORM! (Holds sword out pathetically for defence from the stabbing and slashing!)

Some night shots flaunting the stern beauty:
My question to you people is do you want to see sails? Answer in the poll, of ye please.
The next project will be the Santa Maria!

An overview
The forecastle, where the men would be allowed to spend their spare time.
Under the upper deck, where the small cannons and the two officer cabins are found. Some of the men would also sleep here.
The upper deck, with Columbus' cabin at the back.
Columbus' private cabin.
A view from the half-deck to the forecastle.
I have yet to add pumps and other oddities, if you have suggestions/designs, do post!
