Indiamen were large-ish ships, usually armed or made to look armed, that sailed to India for their country's East India Company. Most big countries had one, the Dutch and English being prominent, as well as the French. Most pirates would think twice about attacking these because they look heavily armed, and some were.
I made her gray and blue because I got fed up with the English bumblebee pattern and I didn't want to use the French/Spanish colors. She resembles the Swedish Indiaman Gotheborg, but mine has a different rig and deck plan. I still need to build the foremast and add features.Oh, I see that everyone wants a Fantasy Airship then. I'll get to it, shall I?

I've been working on something for a friend, so I won't be able to post any new ships for a week or so, but once I am done, and if my terraformer pulls through, I'll start work on my fort and bay.

Yay, my thread is now a hot topic! For a celebration, I will build the first three ship ideas to be posted in this thread, and those ships can be anything! (Within reason, no massive, massive ships please ;))

Hullo! You posted a link on ConfuseACat's thread, which is the only reason I found this... And trust me, I was looking for a little while the other day. =P I have a ship request for you... Lemme just find an example...
*rummage rummage*
Ah! Here we are:
A Barque, a la Sid Meier. I actually just built one (about to create my own shipyard thread, soon we'll be taking over the forum), but I'm not sure if I like it yet... I want to see how you would style it. Good luck with the sails... They kicked my ass. XD

...actually, created is a bit much.... Thought of. That's more accurate.

Aye, lateen sails are pretty hard to make. If you look at the previous page, I have a Xebec, a ship similar to that Barque, but the masts are straight unlike your ship's jutting foremast.
As for the shipyards, it is not the other threads I worry about. It's what'll happen when only the shipyards are left. Mark me words, there'll be war.

Oh, whoops. That's what happens when I don't look. One page off... lol... It's nice to see that my attempt at a xebec looks quite similar to yours, makes me fee like I might actually know what I'm doing! And hey, a war between shipyard threads would be... what's the word... epic? >=D

And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge... Rumor turned into myth... myth turned into legend, and legend gave rumor and myth amiss, and went straight into autumn. ...Wait, what?
It sounds embarrassing because you are probably english? The absolute worst thing ever is an english speaker trying pronounce swedish or indeed any other scandinavian language in general.
/from a Swedish American
I live in Sweden, I've heard their Viking word a hundred times now. I think I have a fair idea as to the pronunciation.

In light of my Dunwall Project (Link in Signature) I will attempt to churn out a whaling ship today. It may be a tall ship or a ship based off of the trawlers in Dishonored, I don't know.

Sorry for a lack of new ships. As a reward for your patient waiting (or you're ignoring this thread, which is likely) I have built a gunboat.
But first, lesson time!
Gunboats are swift and easily maneuverable designed to flit around sea battles and pester larger ships, or go down rivers and clear out foes that schooners and sloops cannot touch. I based my gunboat off of an American design that was advanced later on:
Though the only elements I really captured are the hull and the bowsprit, I removed a mast and a gun.
Now, without further ado,
More pictures:
You may not be able to see it, but I have changed my hull design somewhat. Instead of my normal, and rather abrupt sections, I did what you can see in the model picture; the 'line' of the hull is longer and curves in at a later time on the upper parts when compared to near the bottom. Sorry if this is unclear, it's hard to explain. If you look at the model and take a look at its hull shape, you'll get it.
I make a habit not to burn ships. I give them a chance.
It's still not very fair though.

I won't put in a ship request myself. If I want to see a certain ship, I'll build one. I'll let others pick for you!
I've actually been working on something for a friend, so I haven't done anything with my Indiaman. I can probably finish it after Monday, though.
As for the suggestions, *drums fingers on huge desk* there's nobody here. This boozing ken's empty as a 2nd Rate shipwright's purse.
