As far as steampunk is concerned, they bend the laws of physics to make them possible anyway, so capsizing is not an issue. As for the small Gasbags, they are filed with a gas that has more lifting power than helium or hydrogen, only exclusive to this world's military. As the gas is far too expensive for civilians to produce their ships are confined to use hydrogen or helium.
I am quite sure steampunk still has gravity and basic physics so capsizing should still have to be taken into consideration when designing one of these. Hydrogen and helium have no actual lifting power then air inside a submarine has and there is nothing lighter then hydrogen, but let us assume in your fictional steampunk universe that there is. A substance with enough buoyancy would be extremely problematic for many reasons. Though I am okay with steampunk stretching physics and stuff to make things possible in their fictional universe I believe the stretching of physics in yours has gone way too far.
Though I do not think these work well as airships they could work okay as ironclad water warships.
Also these ships have many large TNT cannons, do you have a way counteracting the knockback from them? I feel a broadside from all the TNT cannons would be likely to capsize the ships.

What makes up for the physics of the floating islands? Or the fact that cubes are the primary shape as opposed to spheres? You're thinking WAY too much into this. A major point of steampunk is that its part of an ALTERNATE universe, which could differ in only tiny ways or in large ways such as their laws of physics.

Like I said, I feel that in this case things are being stretched too far.

Well then just ignore my thread if you think we are stretching physics to far. I understand where you're coming from but i'm not going to redesign my ships.
i think Blakmajik is waiting for mojang to stop spamming updates. the programming would be pretty hard to keep up with by yourself, even if you're a cave dwelling basement troll. Blakmajik is certainly not a cave dwelling basement troll. so we zeppelin captains must wait patiently for him to catch up to mojang.
Getting the docking tower done bit by bit. putting a base around it to act like a station instead of an airport. I'm modeling it after the style of grand central station in New York.
Poor Asikar! Your thread has been attacked by a landlubber!
If you want, I can lend you a few Dunwall City Watchmen. This guy's just itching to test out a new move he learned:
They ain't much to look at, but they get the job done.
On another note, your work is looking good. I haven't been here in a while :3

Thanks for the offer, some guards are always a good idea I was beginning to wonder when the first attack would fall. I'll be sure to bring the AA turrets on line for the next one.
Sorry for the absence, i have gotten into Bioshock. However, I have some exiting news for you all. The dimensions for the Icarus are 400 blocks long by 100 blocks wide. I'm not going the approach of airhaven in the Predator Cities quartet, I'm going by the approach of just a very very big version of the standard oblong zeppelin.
Here is a pic for sheer size reference of the Icarus.
This is on normal render.
That's a massive scale! However, being a longstanding member of the 'Bovine Appreciation Society', I have to take umbrage with you over the use of a cow as a measuring device! Poor little thing...well, she looks little against that ginormous scale Haha! I like how you've fenced her in though!
This will certainly be a construction to watch. Would be excellent if you could take a series of snaps from the same vantage point to show it's progress.
I myself am still realizing how massive the Icarus is. the engines for this gargantuan beast of the sky are going to be nearly as big as the Undaunted! Boy, do i have my work cut out...
I'm going to divide the city into districts based on the hull frame divisions, such as general housing, agriculture, entertainment, and the last two(the ones on the far left) will be the engine districts Port and starboard.
I'm going to put hangar bays along the lower hull stretching all the way to the stern, making it mostly empty space. She needed some way to trade with other cities/traveling merchants so i thought protected hangars would be a pretty good idea.

Oh wow. Seriously, wow. That ship is going to be huge! I mean, if finishing the hull frame is progress, then this is going to have to take at least half a year, or several months if you stretch it...
Anyway, great job so far!

I plan to have the Icarus mostly done in 2 months tops, and that's going slow. Remember the ship is mostly empty space..
It only took me a week to churn out the Undaunted.

Wait for time

Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, but Today is a Gift, and THAT is why it is called the Present.

also, do you think the mod has reached its toll? its been a year since hes updated it

Steady as she goes, sir.
Platform frame: done
Fill platform: 25%
Overall completion: i really don't know why i bothered yet.
If I helped then please
Basic platform: complete
lower hull: 25% complete
Overall Progress: 5% complete
