Intro:
Ever since pyramids were announced, I eagerly awaited the release of 1.3. I'm not one to play pre-releases, so I waited a pretty long time. Moreover, I wasn't home until 11 days after the release, so I waited even longer. Anyway, I started up a survival world when I updated and I spawned in a desert. Somewhere in the desert, I stumbled upon a village, which had a pyramid right in it. I waited to enter, and gathered quite a few materials in the process. I did start with a Bonus Chest, but it gave me a Wood Axe, Wood Pickaxe, and 5 Sticks. A few minecraft days went by, and when I had gathered enough, I entered the temple. To start, I made both sides symmetrical, and fixed the flooring in the middle (almost died on that account) with the wool. I dismantled a few village homes and looted the blacksmiths chest (woohoo, an iron pickaxe). Then I went to Extreme Hills and gathered a few emeralds for mining. Then I entered the pyramid again, set to expand it and make it my home.
Purpose:
I just feel like sharing a legit survival build with the community. People can critique my building ideas and even give ideas of their own. This is my pyramid, but it could become community-wide if people decide to contribute ideas. Please leave ideas below (if you have any) and if they involve the functionality of the build, I will add them to the "To-Do List". Let's begin, shall we?
Texture Pack:
For this project, I have been using SoartexFanver for 1.3. But not everything was done, so I have been adding new textures (such as the enderchest or creative inventories) and replacing old ones (xporbs, enchanting, etc.). A link to SoartexFanver can be found here. The link will send you to the normal pack, without updated items.
Mods:
I use the following modifications during gameplay. Other than the one(s) noted below, I keep it as Vanilla as possible.
None at the moment. Waiting for Optifine and Recipe Book to update
Download:
A download to the map can be found here. It's directly through mediafire, not adf.ly or anything of that sort. Because you are now able to view the map in depth, please feel free to give comments/criticism/critique/help/ideas/etc.

Season 1: Beginnings
Contains Updates 1 through 10.
Update One:
The pyramid itself did not have a set of stairs, so when I looted the village, I added them in.
Instead of four pillars of sandstone, I'm editing them with workbenches and furnaces. This is my base, as well as a build, so it needs to be functional.
Looting, fixing the pyramid, and exploring gave me all these materials in one chest
And these as well
Windows by the entrance door. Not only does it get dark at night, but walking into torches would hurt
All four pillars have now been replaced
Each furnace has 7 coal in it, thanks to my recent expedition
Got myself one stack of sand for the windows (should be earlier here, but whatever)
Doors! Finally, I have protection.
I'd say it was a successful day at the mine. 21 lapis, 5 diamond. Time to find obsidian
I went back down into the "treasure room" with ladders and built a system to easily get in and out
After finding some lava and drying up the source (aww), I built the Nether Portal. Update two will include the Nether
Update Two:
Into the Nether I go!
Welcome to the Nether. Pretty barren so far...
Expanding the treasure room to 4x4 (was 3x3)
The center of the pyramid. Expanded. What could it be? I don't even know what I want it to be yet
The overview of the pyramid, including the center expansion
Update Three:
Note: Big update!
Made everything a little less jagged in preparation for my Nether Base
Inside the beginning of the base. Yes, I know: not much
Netherrack + Fire = ?. Decoration, for sure! (let me know what you think)
Fire on top of the towers from a distance
I finished clearing out the treasure room shaft
I suddenly decided I needed an incinerator by the portal (and what would soon be the mine). So, it was made
That awesome moment when, in your mine, you stumble upon a vein of coal/redstone. Not only that, but it was a HUGE vein
I made a full set of iron armor
Beginning of the enchantment station in my Nether Base
I enchanted with the above picture set-up, and got...
The coal and redstone dust in the top right was from the giant vein
After a while, I updated the enchanting section, mined a lot more, annihilated a lot of zombie pigmen, and fought the nighttime mobs. What happened with the enchantment? Something pretty awesome, I must say
I spent 20 minutes in the Nether (near the portal), destroying even more pigmen (changed difficulty to "Hard"). Then I found some dungeons in mineshafts back in the Overworld, and made them into mini mob-grinders. After a long time of wait, I was able to enchant my full set of diamond armor (oh yes, that's new too. Found lots of diamonds in the mineshafts and by digging. All enchanted with Protection - varying levels
Spruced up the mine entrance in the basement
Update Three-and-a-Half:
I used some Spruce Leaves, sandstone slabs, and sandstone steps to spruce up the entrance to my base
Made a melon and pumpkin farm with the seeds I found in a Mineshaft / Blacksmith Chest
I decided to have fun. So, I made a snowman. In the desert. It died. RIP Snow
Apparently all of the protection on my armor enables me to stand in lava. I would lose half a heart, but then it would regenerate. Pretty cool, I think
I flattened out the desert a little and used it to fill in creeper-holes. Eventually, I plan on making a village based around me (the "king" figure) and the pyramid (my "mansion")
Update Four:
Another big update, but not building-wise really. 21 total pics
Animal House
Started a main pathway to connect the town buildings to each other
The pyramid at dusk
Started the houses. They'll be basic: one story; 8x8 with living dimensions of 6x6; stone floor, just a bed, chest, furnace, workbench
More houses. They will not have flat roofs
Entryway
3 houses per each side is what I settled on
Started the roofing. The left-most house rood will have to bend
At night, the cornered roof. Let me know how to improve this, please
Wow, I made a map and it ends here. Fail
Found another village! Will use it to mine sandstone. But no pyramid or blacksmith :/
Another pyramid! What's inside...?
Pyramid location on map
Chest #1. Thank goodness I made ladders down so I can get back with the valuables
Chest #2. Getting there...
Chest #4. Woo! Chest #3 only had rotten flesh in it, by the way
And into the nether? Yes. Found a nether fortress soon after.
Killed 2 Blazes as well as mined a bunch of Nether stuff. Here's my loot.
Update Five:
This is a mini-update. Still working on the town more, and will update this update as I expand.
This took me the majority of the past few days: a giant community-wide wheat farm
A close up on the farm. It's approximately 26x21 I believe. I should double-check that
A new part of the town road (without glowstone) as well as the finished roof on one of the houses
Finished roof! Should I add steps onto the Chiseled Sandstone or leave it?
Update Six:
I decided to start organizing my chests. It's working, but very slowly. And I mean very...
Finally got some cows for my farm. Next stop: chickens. And then cake!
Decided to take the extra step off of the last houses on both sides. Is this better?
Finally got around to putting windows on all the houses
My wheat farm is growing
I had no new ideas, so I decided to add a sugarcane farm to the front of my pyramid
Iron Blocks. What for?
Any ideas yet...?
An iron golem!
But not just one...two!
Update Seven:
I finally decided to clear out part of the sand dune behind the 5 houses, and eventually it looked like this
Made a road encompassing the now-flat area, although it was tricky by the farm road. Took me a while, but I did finally get it
Look at the jungle. It's giving me ideas...
After a week or so of working, gathering, planning, and fixing, I present you this: Villager's Park
From a corner of the park, looking at the waterfall
Looking up from the bottom of the fountain
Update Eight:
The giant communal sugar cane farm. It's as big as the wheat farm. Took a long time to make
I decided I liked green for the park. So after taking down cacti and making dye and shearing innumerous sheep, I replaced the sand in the park with green wool. I think it looks a lot better than the sand.
From atop the pyramid, looking down on the city so far
Looking toward the jungle from the pyramid
The farms at night
The pyramid at night
The whole city at night
Update Nine:
As you can see, I added some more houses, re-did the road section in the middle to accomodate that, and duplicated the garden
After going into the nearby snow, I had plenty of snow to fill in the sand space between the two greens. But what to use it for...?
I went back later and found a wolf. Tamed it as well . Pet Count: 1
There is now just one road in the middle of the community square (farm and housing) for now
Update 10, Part I:
Due to the huge number of pictures, Update 10 is split into two parts. The first has 21 images, and the second has the other 21.
Found a use for the snow block: an ice rink
Rather than blocks, the front of the pyramid now has stairs
The beginning of the stair-overhaul, to show what I mean
The mine under the pyramid now has cobblestone stairs, so I can just walk up and down
A hallway in the mine. Note, it isn't a mine anymore, but the original purpose was as a mine
Ermagerd a corner.
Remember the Nether Base? Neither do I.
The furnace columns in the pyramid are now cocoa-bean generators
In the ankh, I placed gold blocks. And the eyes are...diamonds?
One of the four marketplace tents
I made the "face" more 3D as well
**Decision pending** I replaced the frame of the "storage house" with a cocoa-bean generator. Can you tell I like cocoa-beans?
Yes, the eyes are now diamonds
In the center of the four marketplace tents is a sort of garden. This is one of the water blocks
This is what the park looks like
In the marketplace is a melon farm. There is another one on the other side
The green tent, with yellow in the background
The yellow tent, with red at the right
The blue tent at the marketplace. Full version
The outside of the fountains have cocoa-bean generators, for public use
Update 10, Part II:
These are the rest of the pictures for Update 10
A railway system to where? It has no destination yet, just in the making
Just another section of the town
The new inside of the pyramid
The pyramid during the day. Hmm, the cocoa...
New road patterns at the corners
Public vandalism on housing. Comes with SoartexFanver 2.0
Cows, Sheep, and the building in the back
Public Pig Farm
Blue and Purple Sheep. Where's the Capitol (Hunger Games reference)
Some more eccentric sheep, and that building in the back again
Cows of all types
The building is the library. It's still a huge WIP
The inside of the library. Also a huge WIP
The assembly line in nature. Two tiers of furnaces and a birch "tree farm"
Obsidian Generator. Destroy the stone, get obsidian
Cobblestone Generator
Smooth Stone Generator. If someone could show me how to do the redstone for that, I'd be happy
The community mine. Each entrance has a purpose. Also a WIP
The community mine entrance
What you should see when you spawn
Update 11:
Made the jail rail transport a little more pretty
Dug out more of the community mine
Look what a villager (me) found in one!
Rest In Peace, Villager Jim. He fell into lava while mining today
Iron and Coal - stimulating the village economy, one ore at a time
While making double chests with slabs, it broke the pyramid walls. Thus, I made this gross stair addition
All of the chests have been doubled. Still not organized, but they're larger now
Library lighting
The back of the library, finally with windows
Update 12:
Even has an updated download!
From atop a tree, looking at another section of pretty railway
A library tower
The top of a tower
Looking at the towers and floor 2
Update 13, Part I:
Not my Halloween Update, but I figured I would do this anyway. (RE-DONE due to corruption)
Walls, Walls, Walls, Nether!
Inside these "walls"
SNEAK PEEK at the Halloween Update (Update 13, Part 3)
SNEAK PEEK, part 2. Some houses
Aw damn
A giant hole...in the middle of Hell. What can I do...?
A ravine in the desert
In the ravine (look, a bat!)
Ravine: Mineshaft
Some iron and rails. Both very useful
A dungeon?!
Inside one of the chests
Inside the other
Inside a random mineshaft chest
Inside another random mineshaft chest
Library with second floor
Finally, corner stairs
And corner stairs all the way up.
Update 13, Part II
Continues from Part I, because it had a ton of pictures. Just misc. Overworld stuff
Replaced the fire stand
Cobblestone walls and a skeleton
Corner stairs on the housing, finally
New things in the Nether
Had a few non-Fortress Wither Skeletons spawn. Oh well, it only means one thing
BAM! I did it
And a nether star only has one use
9 blocks of iron, and what goes on top?
That's right: a beacon
Inside the Beacon Beam
It looks very sci-fi...
Bats!
Another dungeon? Near the pyramid.
After I cleared out the sand and hit the spawner, I found this chest
This was what it held
Wow, you can see it from quite far
The library, floor 2
I made a fourth section. So now: farms and housing, marketplace, library, and a fourth section
I got so much sand out of it...
I had killed quite a few Endermen and had a bit of blaze powder from pre-1.4 (when they fixed spawning), so you can imagine what I did...
After quite a bit of exploration, I found the room
You have no idea how long it took me to save up the Pearls and Eyes. Let's hope it paid off
After at least an hour with armor, enchanted bow, arrows, and snow, I did it!
And, what good would defeating the dragon be without a vaudeville, Alice-in-Wonderland Styled room?
Update 14:
I'm getting there with covering the roof of the library with stone slabs. My stone supply has been diverted at the moment
I only diverted it a little...the four towers. No use, I was just bored
Leaving the pyramid one day: "WOAH! What is that?"
The top of each cylinder in the towers
Lapis Corner Boundaries, because I can
Looking down the completed-ish tower hallway. Very open and spacious
While building the towers, I saw this. Trying to connect it by rail then I can build something random there
What the towers looked like to begin with
Update 15:
Finished! Corners - before
Corners - after
Before it was totally done..but the basic gist of the towers when leaving home
Inside the one tower that leads up - flooring and stair spoiler
The staircase as you reach the "top floor"
Outside view of the towers' top
Closer view on one section
Aah! What is that?!
Hm, I like this symbol. Seems a little simple for me, though
Do I like this...?
Apparently not. Let's become a little more extravagant.
Just kidding. Three stages of extravagant. I think I'm done now.
Finished the library roof. Think I'm almost out of stone products now...
Connected the three-tiered things. Now what to put inside...
Update 16:
Carrot Farm!
Potato Farm!
Beginning a railway. But to what?
Leaving a snow biome with the soon-to-be railroad
Is that a giant mountain in the distance?
"Stairway To Heaven"
Reached the top of the hill. Started filling the railway back. Answer to the poll about Extreme Hills was majority "for", so I went ahead and connected.
Resumed work on Library Floor 2
Update 17:
Remember this?
Well, it's now my Brewing Centre
Brewing Chest. It took a lot of work to gather all that...
So I was making the railroad. When I finished, the stone had been on the wrong side...Undo!
It went almost the entire length...
Well, Four Towers has an open space.
Just kidding. It's the communal Potatoes and Carrots Farm. So resource-intensive.
Placing the rails down. Requires a ton of resource. Still a WIP
The best physics ever. Not really, but I tried xP
Welcome to Extremity! That's the name for Extreme Hills (for now...). Oh, and a nice lighting error
I can just barely see Four Towers from here.
My own Carrot Farm.
My own Potato Farm.

Nice work in progress, be interested to follow this as you get going Surprisingly one of the first i've noticed intending to make the pyramid a base, not a bad idea! Good job
Thank you. There are two upsides to minecraft: The option to be as interesting as you want, and trying to do what others haven't. I think I accomplished both of those here (and it's what I've tried to do)
thats awesome. ive yet to find a pyramid in any of my survival worlds.
Ha, I know the feeling. It took me a bunch of world generations in the desert to find it. I still have yet to find a Jungle Temple/Ruin in my worlds yet. Trying to find one here, though
Oh, and update 3.5 was just released, with a poll. Vote on it, maybe?
Alright, Update 4 is out. This is probably bumping, so I'll try to not update every 12 hours (don't want this to get locked).
Update 4 Summary:
Mainly, I explored a lot in this update. I'm running low on building materials because I was using them for the road or housing. Seeing as I'm located in a desert, everything was made of sand, which is mostly what I had taken up to this point. But now, I venture back into the Nether to find a fortress. I was successful at that, and killed two blazes before taking the spawner (which was a mistake). Then I went to mine a bunch of Nether Brick as well as Nether Brick Stairs.
Soon, I would expand my backyard farm to include pigs and sheep as well. I also made a quick update to the leaf-entrance (it had glowstone by the door.
And soon after, I began work on the village around the pyramid. I made a 3-wide double-slab pathway, and single or double-wide paths to the houses. For this task, I required a ton of sandstone, and actually depleted my blocks a lot. Other than the ores, food, tools, armor in my chests, I had very little blocks left for building. So I went exploring, and stumbled on another GIANT desert. So I got sidetracked on that account, and I should probably get more than just sandstone.
I plan to maintain this thread in "Minecraft Survival" more than I update here. This will be updated, but it may be every few updates to catch up. So if you plan on following my journey, please go to Minecraft Survival, as that will go update-by-update. Thanks for understanding
Okay guys, another update for this thread. It's Update 10. That means: a world download.
*Drum Roll*
To find out the full summary on Update 10 (as well as 6-9), you'll have to go to the survival post. But I updated this as well, because it's been a while.

In the center of the four marketplace tents is a sort of garden. This is one of the water blocks
This is what the park looks like
In the marketplace is a melon farm. There is another one on the other side
The green tent, with yellow in the background
The yellow tent, with red at the right
The blue tent at the marketplace. Full version
The outside of the fountains have cocoa-bean generators, for public use
Update 10, Part II:
These are the rest of the pictures for Update 10
A railway system to where? It has no destination yet, just in the making
Just another section of the town
The new inside of the pyramid
The pyramid during the day. Hmm, the cocoa...
New road patterns at the corners
Public vandalism on housing. Comes with SoartexFanver 2.0
Cows, Sheep, and the building in the back
Public Pig Farm
Blue and Purple Sheep. Where's the Capitol (Hunger Games reference)
Some more eccentric sheep, and that building in the back again
Cows of all types
The building is the library. It's still a huge WIP
The inside of the library. Also a huge WIP
The assembly line in nature. Two tiers of furnaces and a birch "tree farm"
Obsidian Generator. Destroy the stone, get obsidian
Cobblestone Generator
Smooth Stone Generator. If someone could show me how to do the redstone for that, I'd be happy
The community mine. Each entrance has a purpose. Also a WIP
The community mine entrance
What you should see when you spawn
Update 11:
Made the jail rail transport a little more pretty
Dug out more of the community mine
Look what a villager (me) found in one!
Rest In Peace, Villager Jim. He fell into lava while mining today
Iron and Coal - stimulating the village economy, one ore at a time
While making double chests with slabs, it broke the pyramid walls. Thus, I made this gross stair addition
All of the chests have been doubled. Still not organized, but they're larger now
Library lighting
The back of the library, finally with windows
Update 12:
Even has an updated download!
From atop a tree, looking at another section of pretty railway
A library tower
The top of a tower
Looking at the towers and floor 2
Update 13, Part I:
Not my Halloween Update, but I figured I would do this anyway. (RE-DONE due to corruption)
Walls, Walls, Walls, Nether!
Inside these "walls"
SNEAK PEEK at the Halloween Update (Update 13, Part 3)
SNEAK PEEK, part 2. Some houses
Aw damn
A giant hole...in the middle of Hell. What can I do...?
A ravine in the desert
In the ravine (look, a bat!)
Ravine: Mineshaft
Some iron and rails. Both very useful
A dungeon?!
Inside one of the chests
Inside the other
Inside a random mineshaft chest
Inside another random mineshaft chest
Library with second floor
Finally, corner stairs
And corner stairs all the way up.
Update 13, Part II
Continues from Part I, because it had a ton of pictures. Just misc. Overworld stuff
Replaced the fire stand
Cobblestone walls and a skeleton
Corner stairs on the housing, finally
New things in the Nether
Had a few non-Fortress Wither Skeletons spawn. Oh well, it only means one thing
BAM! I did it
And a nether star only has one use
9 blocks of iron, and what goes on top?
That's right: a beacon
Inside the Beacon Beam
It looks very sci-fi...
Bats!
Another dungeon? Near the pyramid.
After I cleared out the sand and hit the spawner, I found this chest
This was what it held
Wow, you can see it from quite far
The library, floor 2
I made a fourth section. So now: farms and housing, marketplace, library, and a fourth section
I got so much sand out of it...
I had killed quite a few Endermen and had a bit of blaze powder from pre-1.4 (when they fixed spawning), so you can imagine what I did...
After quite a bit of exploration, I found the room
You have no idea how long it took me to save up the Pearls and Eyes. Let's hope it paid off
After at least an hour with armor, enchanted bow, arrows, and snow, I did it!
And, what good would defeating the dragon be without a vaudeville, Alice-in-Wonderland Styled room?
Update 14:
I'm getting there with covering the roof of the library with stone slabs. My stone supply has been diverted at the moment
I only diverted it a little...the four towers. No use, I was just bored
Leaving the pyramid one day: "WOAH! What is that?"
The top of each cylinder in the towers
Lapis Corner Boundaries, because I can
Looking down the completed-ish tower hallway. Very open and spacious
While building the towers, I saw this. Trying to connect it by rail then I can build something random there
What the towers looked like to begin with
Update 15:
Finished! Corners - before
Corners - after
Before it was totally done..but the basic gist of the towers when leaving home
Inside the one tower that leads up - flooring and stair spoiler
The staircase as you reach the "top floor"
Outside view of the towers' top
Closer view on one section
Aah! What is that?!
Hm, I like this symbol. Seems a little simple for me, though
Do I like this...?
Apparently not. Let's become a little more extravagant.
Just kidding. Three stages of extravagant. I think I'm done now.
Finished the library roof. Think I'm almost out of stone products now...
Connected the three-tiered things. Now what to put inside...
Update 16:
Carrot Farm!
Potato Farm!
Beginning a railway. But to what?
Leaving a snow biome with the soon-to-be railroad
Is that a giant mountain in the distance?
"Stairway To Heaven"
Reached the top of the hill. Started filling the railway back. Answer to the poll about Extreme Hills was majority "for", so I went ahead and connected.
Resumed work on Library Floor 2
Update 17:
Remember this?
Well, it's now my Brewing Centre
Brewing Chest. It took a lot of work to gather all that...
So I was making the railroad. When I finished, the stone had been on the wrong side...Undo!
It went almost the entire length...
Well, Four Towers has an open space.
Just kidding. It's the communal Potatoes and Carrots Farm. So resource-intensive.
Placing the rails down. Requires a ton of resource. Still a WIP
The best physics ever. Not really, but I tried xP
Welcome to Extremity! That's the name for Extreme Hills (for now...). Oh, and a nice lighting error
I can just barely see Four Towers from here.
My own Carrot Farm.
My own Potato Farm.
**Final Note: This is all legit survival using SoartexFanver**
(Darn the bad weather at the beach, but I had time to work on this...)
Thank you. There are two upsides to minecraft: The option to be as interesting as you want, and trying to do what others haven't. I think I accomplished both of those here (and it's what I've tried to do)
Ha, I know the feeling. It took me a bunch of world generations in the desert to find it. I still have yet to find a Jungle Temple/Ruin in my worlds yet. Trying to find one here, though
Oh, and update 3.5 was just released, with a poll. Vote on it, maybe?
Go read the update to find out more
I plan to maintain this thread in "Minecraft Survival" more than I update here. This will be updated, but it may be every few updates to catch up. So if you plan on following my journey, please go to Minecraft Survival, as that will go update-by-update. Thanks for understanding
*Drum Roll*
To find out the full summary on Update 10 (as well as 6-9), you'll have to go to the survival post. But I updated this as well, because it's been a while.
Also, a contest idea. Let me know what you think:
