Wow, I'm glad so many like it. This took three weeks to complete. I used over 100000 sandstone, over 60000 wool, and more than 10000 glowstone. This is my first project of this magnitude, on the first and only server I play on. I did it all by hand and calculator.
There may eventually be an entire city contained within it.
It's about 219 x 219 x 200 blocks total area, with a 25 block max diameter. I finished it today, and like I said you can see it any time on Shadowraze.
Holy siiiiiii-! That's something I haven't seen for a while, it's nice but it's actually harder than just lining up all the blocks, offcourse it's possible to make if you know the shapes but... well yeah! Nice and good work ya got there mate
Method Part 1: Measured height width and length for the total area of the central set of ellipses with cobblestone. Calculated block placement for the first largest set and placed with cobblestone. For the second set, decreased area by a factor of the square root of two. Rotated axes 45 degrees to the vertical. Calculated block placement and placed with cobble. Third set repeats second, though I was not quite accurate in my method of rotation in the third set, forgetting that opposite corners of a cube are the square root of three distance apart. Deleted the measurement cobblestone to give the floating appearance.
Method part 2: Proper shape and coloring taken from the series. Outlined skeleton shape with a 1 block spiral, then built ellipses of increasing radius to a max of 12 blocks all the way to the head all out of sandstone. Added a wool skin and hair, glowstone ridges, and snow claws and teeth for coloring. Finally added the dragonballs at the tail end as an afterthought. Calculator used only for exacting the placement of blocks in the ellipses, all rotations done by hand.
107151 blocks of Sandstone
67284 blocks of Wool
5274 blocks of Glowstone
63 blocks of Snow
13 diamond picks broken
Dimensions in XYZ: ~ 225 X 194 X 225
Total length: ~ 4000 blocks
Diameter: 1 - 25 blocks
Accuracy: One quarter of a Blackberry Pi, give or take a few crumbs."
"I especially like the shape he is curled around, and being a huge DBZ fan, I have to say thank you for this treat."
One reason I made this is because for the past few months, I have been watching Dragonball for the first time everyday. I finished and purchased the original Dragonball, and am in the 200's of DBZ.
