It should work like this: No blocks can be placed or broken, but you can sell MOB items and buy equipment, food, etc. And there should be MCmmo. PVP should be allowed anywhere and there should be sethome. :biggrin.gif:
No factions though. :tongue.gif: That would ruin it. Anyway, nice work on the map! :biggrin.gif:
The most painful part of giving the final touches will be......the Trees, there are so many trees, and none of them look as good in MC as their wow counterparts.
The trees in darkshore are definitively better than the ones from the boreal (taiga) forests of minecraft.
(and, now that we have an idea of how they were generated, only a matter of time before we start seeing them in forest generators or terrain mods)
the new world format could be helpful, when you can define biomes per chunk rather than having them all governed by a worldwide seed. So you can have deserts actually be deserts. Not sure if the height increase will be enough for you to not need mods like that though
I'd love to work with you on making a good economy server with a real economy.
Simple ideas: No block destruction or creation at all in the main world. Mob drops do not include money, unless it's a humanoid that would have a reason to carry money. Mob kills do give bounties (kill credits); these would improve your standing with some groups, possibly giving you rewards (but first you have to go to their home), possibly hurting your standing with others.
A "Building" dimension, that can be accessed, similar to the nether, where mining/crafting is legal. Blocks can be purchased in the main world towns, and placed here. Ore can be found here.
Heh... Make the "base rock" of this world sandstone, not regular stone. Sandstone cannot be used in just about anything; this would give normal stone blocks value when sold in the regular world towns, and would require people to keep going back and forth -- mining ore in mining world, killing mobs and questing in regular world, and buying blocks in regular world to build stuff in building world. (Building and mining world would probably be the same.)
Or, maybe, make "ore veins" of normal stone blocks just like ore veins of other minerals are found. ...
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
When I first saw the title of this thread I thought "A full scale recreation? Hah! Better have a few free years of your life". But then I clicked on the thread, and saw that you are actually doing it ._. Awesome job, keep updating the photos!
I would absolutely love to play on this, i imagine it would be hard to release it for download if its 1GB though.
Also places like orgimmar will probably be quite empty. i havent played in org since pre cata but i remember that is was full of crates which made it look a little more populated.
Wow... that's amazing! Also, maybe the generator and/or map could be up for download upon completion? I really want to be able to explore areas like Azuremist in minecraft. The outlands would be awesome too in the nether.
Now all we need is a few incredible computers, some excellent modders, and we can remake the game itself! And, y'know, get a lawsuit... still an awesome idea

Overgrowth indie game FTW!
This will never be forgotten as one of the most amazing works in minecraft.
Could you please do this to an Everquest classic continent? It was my favorite MMORPG
I'll pay you to do it!

The outlands look pretty kickass right now.
You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
