wow thats nuts ... can anyone download this map when your done?
and would the Nether be the out lands if your planning to make both sides of the WoW world and the top being Lich king.
In all likelihood, Outland will be another area in the "open world", connected by a portal of course. It will also have no bedrock base, so you can fall off it and die just like in WoW. I might use the nether for dungeons.
Some nice preview shots of Outland will be coming soon. For now, here's something to .
This is just pure win. Some places look a bit dodgy, but I suppose it's impossible for the script to do everything awesomely.
Especially the world map is sexy as hell.
I'm actually looking to slightly improve the voxelization algorithm to deal with collisions between materials better. Of course, whatever isn't done perfectly by the algorithm can be polished later in-game.
I played World of Warcraft for 2 amazing years. Sadly i needed to quit because it got in the way of my real life. Now im a casual Minecraft player and have been waiting for a build like this, you are truly inspiring.
I get a nostalgic feeling from just looking at the images.
This is absolutely epic! I've been playing World of Warcraft for like 5 years and now, when I see Kalimdor (I was Tauren most of the time :biggrin.gif: ) transfered to Minecraft, I'm truly amazed. You did a really great work there. It looks simply amazing... And imagine use of this map to make an adventure map, for example something in Vechs' Complete the Monument style. I can't wait till this is completed. Good luck.

Hey ^^ ! I apologize to all people, which messages I haven't responded. Was kinda busy recently, but now its OK, so if you write to me, I'll try to answer you !
I used Java because it made it easier to integrate with some existing Minecraft code like JNBT and the source code for region files. However, it might have been easier to read in the WoW files using C++, since it required a lot of care to make sure that the data was read in correctly. It's not as easy as just creating a struct and reading in the raw bytes.
