But of course, it's not finished. It's missing the big staircase that will go from the top to the bottom. I also started the tunnel which will lead to the empty island, which, as i said back then, will feature a multi-level maze. In fact, a simple tunnel is already made, but i still have to give it the proper size and add the materials needed. This week it should be done!
And now, you might be thinking it's too good for being real...and you would be right.
In order to practise building realistic things, i decided to try and make a cave:
And one making-off pic:
I hope it looks real enough!
Now, if you're wondering "this is not modern, and it's made in a new world!", well, i'm thinking about importing the cave into my world, but i'm not too sure if i should do it....Also, i wanted to try something more "natural" this time, so i think it's fair...
I also made this, an indoor pool! In fact, it's a replica of the one in my hometown:
But...as with the cave, i don't know where to put it in my world. Meanwhile, it's waiting next to the cave, in a superflat world.
But remember that the Skyrise Hotel was also in a superflat world until i found a perfect spot for it. I'll find where to add them, it's just a matter of time.
the underwater tunnel. Now the water leaks are fixed, and the whole roof is see-through (The first steps weren't)
I also fixed the wooden double doors at National Park, which were still bugged after the last updates. Now all double doors are working fine!
Now, something that i'm not very sure about...adding torches to unlit areas, i think it looks good with the light (maybe there's too much light now...), but the amount of torches somehow ruins the natural zones, so i don't know what to do.
And now, a history i haven't told yet...see this island, back in the alpha days?
The inner part of the island was a cave that leaded to a very big cave system. Back then, i didn't know what to do there, and i just made it dissapear:
But now i changed my mind. The caves are there, and they deserve to be seen, so i made this:
A simple dock and an access to the caves. And they're full lightened now!
Another blast from the past...before the underwater tunnel, and now, the underground tunnel with the minecart transport solution, i thought about making a bridge, this was the very first sketch:
But...i choosed to make tunnels instead. I'm glad, a bridge there would look outrageous.
And for the smallest update ever...i changed my home's floor with a new wooden plank color:
The pool have updates too. Now, it have a main entrance... (which is a replica of the real pool's entrace, as well)
Locker rooms...
And a new iron roof. Also, instead of using fences to hold the lights, now i'm using iron bars. I also added glass blocks in the roof in order to gain some daylight, and i changed the sharpe in some areas, to make it look more like its real counterpart.
Before:
After (The iron roof wasn't fully installed when i made the pic):
And i think that's it for now. The next thing to do, apart from the maze (before making the maze itself, i need to finish emptying the island) is to finish Skyrise's interiors. Now i have a good bunchs of ideas for the floors, so expect an update soon!
Also, i just updated my world's* download link, since now it's pretty much obsolete. I updated my texture pack as well (1.2.5) I added the download link in the first post.
*Just for the record, my world's real name is Munduno. Which is a mixup of "Mundo Uno", which in Spanish means...World One.
Remember the tunnel flooding at one point? Well, the only solution was...to cover it up with dirt. Which meant, that the island maze was not longer an island, but a peninsula.
So what i did?
This:
Now at least, it looks like a bridge...i can't make it look more like one (with water under it) because, remember, the tunnel passes just one block under the wood.
But it's fine. In fact, now you can enter the island and enter/exit the maze without having to use a boat or swimming, which is nice.
The name of the island. A little homage to one of my favourite games, Alan Wake
Now you can start to see things from the Pinaculum!
Now, the plan is to make a path from the rest of the world to the island, and from there, to the house i'll make, which is the entrance/exit for the maze. But for now, this is what is made.
And talking about the Pinaculum, the fountain just got upgraded, more light, and i tried to make the entrance less obvious. (Well, to be honest, that was a friend's idea, who is also giving me a hand with my world, for creative reasons)
And what about the entrance itself...well, after the water elevator, do you remember the small pass made out of gold, diamond and obsidian? Now it looks like this:
Looking back to the elevator. Yes, that's Lapis Lazuli on the other side, for symmetry's sake
And now, a dream come true...
This is just what i had in mind for the hole. And it's finally done, i can't believe it! With the grand staircase in place, the hole is finally finished!
Well, let's go down!
The original idea was to put the color pattern on the stair's wall and to use the space between the stairs and the hole's walls as an another method for going down (the water river i made back then, but was proven to do not work at all, so it was demolished)
But i'm proud it turned out to this, much better!
Lights everywhere. But even with this amount of light, the glass have a strange "toasted" look...
The core. The water column from the Pinaculum building goes all the way down.
And it ends:
In the other side, of course, the finished tunnel, with the railings in place:
Let's test it!
It's a nice ride. It's more like a rollercoaster, after all.
And after some seconds, we're in the island!
Still lots of work to do here. Lots. But the first floor is starting to be added, and since just the maze and the house are still missing, this is going to be a fast job!
Right now, i work in my world along with a friend, who helps me starting complex projects and also gives some fresh ideas, and the latest project is something i thought back in the first days of the world, but i couln't see happening...a metro system!
And it's pretty much done now! Just some tunnels still need to be done, and that's it. All the stations are done.
My friend designed the basic design of the stations (size and dimensions, objects placement...) and i designed the theme for every one. Floors, walls and roofs.
We're using Barcelona's color scheme for the lines (L1-> Red, L2->Magenta, and if we do a 3rd line, it will be green) so that's why you see those colors in every station.
First up is Black&White station:
Remember, that magenta is because of the line color. (L2->Magenta)
Now, the X-Cross station:
Black&White design was very simple...black and white wool. In this case, i used red, blue, green and yellow because of the colors in the X-Cross parking, bedrock for the first floor of the Skyrise, which is very close to the station as well, and water because of the fountain and the water floor outside the X-Cross towers.
And of course, it's red here because this is L1. (The signs texture is just a test, is not definitive)
Let's move to the Marina station:
Of course, lapis lazuli and iron, the materials used in the Marina:
Now, the most important station, which is, of course, the Pinaculum one. It's not just because of being there, is also because is the only single station to have both L1 and L2 lines on it.
The access is here, inside the Pinaculum auxiliar building:
I also made some doors here, for accesibility's sake.
Both lines colors:
And being the Pinaculum...yes, iron, gold, and diamond.
L1 station:
L2 station:
Next, National Park's station, outside the park, of course, just next to it.
Forest ilussion for the walls:
The south station:
Why the rainbow design? Because of the multicolor caves next to it.
Yup. Definitely lots of color here.
There's even a small station here, in the caves system:
The rails work perfectly.
The last station is a little far. You see, i felt like i was somehow running out of space, so i decided to expand to new horizons:
The first 2 new constructions in this new area, this house and of course, its own station:
The house started as a joke. My friend was in pause, so i started building a small house arround him. We both liked how it looked, so we made it bigger and better:
Definitely worth it!
Oh, and the station, of course. Which is called Dawn. For self-explainatory reasons:
Since this was a whole new area, i couln't think of a design, so i just tried a little randomness:
Well, the walls are supposed to look like the sun rising in the horizon, above the water.
And that's it! Now, after finishing the remaining tunnels, we will back to the maze project, which was on hold. I'm not going to update the world for now, since i want to finish the metro system first, but after that, i'll give you a link.
You know how much I love this. Although in your texture pack, I'd recommend the glass be clear. There are points where all the glass becomes a *little* annoying.
Well, i know i use maybe too much glass, but i can't avoid it, i love using it...but in the future, i want to try to use more materials, rather than just iron and glass.
And yes, DrumMaster4, i thought about doing that, for example, it hurts seeing the Skyrise with all those lines in the texture...i want to make it more pleasant to the sight, but at the same time, i want it to look like glass, being 100% transparent will make everything looks like there's nothing in there...i'll search for a suitable option for this.
As always, Munduno is still on the works, and since the last update, hundreds (yeah, hunreds!) of changes, updates and new features have been introduced to it...for example, the metro network is finished at last, but there's a LOT more.
Also, new buildings are being planned, and we're starting tests now.
I'll put some images tomorrow, until then, i'll add some nice renders made by my friend helping me with the world:
I don't have the knowledge in English to describe how good this is.
Thank you very much!
Now, here are some of the biggest changes:
First, the biome party is over, no more jungle-forest-plains-et cetera in a 20 block radius, everything is now a forest biome, like it was in the early Alpha days. (Made with WorldPainter)
Also, the mixture of different types of leaves in the trees is over too. Normal leaves for all them. (Made with MCedit) Now, everything looks right (Also, i added dozens of trees, so the open zones look less empty too)
Beacons have been added to all skyscrapers.
Here are the ones at the Pinaculum (The bacon is actually a retextured jack-o-lantern):
One per every tower at X-Cross. Note the roof has been raised for reasons i'll explain in a moment,
And the one at SkyRise, integrated within thelightning rod.
Back to the Pinaculum. The complex is now 2 years old, so we decided to give it a little overhaul.
The main entrance is now simmetrical, with more room for the head.
Glass has been added to the roofs in the stairs. Note the new texture for the glowstone as well.
Every floor has lots of design changes. The lights are all new, placed with more logic. Also, gray features have been added to both floors and roofs:
In the rear, the facade has been fixed (it wasn't symmetrical near one corner) and with the new lights, it looks better at night. More torches have been added to the atrium as well.
Even the lake next to my house has been changed. Now, lights surround every tree (Just one light was next to every tree before)
The museum area. The facade is now sightly smaller, so there's more room arround it. Also, the wall in front of the entrance has been pushed backwards a little, so there's even more room in order to get in.
The main entrance to the caves system now feature doors:
The metro station at Pinaculum complex. With the new textures (the Nether Brick texture has been changed to look like metal)
The stairs in the annex building are fixed too. Now the size is the same on every part of them.
Do you remember the building i made to search caves, years ago? Yup. Upgraded as well. The observation deck now is bigger:
In the inside, the access to it is new too.
X-Cross. I always thought it was too dark at night. So we fixed that.
One of the floors (That's why the top floors were raised, the lights would be seen from the outside then)
The parking is better lit too:
SkyRise. This part, between the entrance and the glass bridge, now looks...like the bridge itself.
New design for the entrance as well:
The rear was a little boring. So i added some colors in the middle, between the lights.
Multi-Color caves. Some changes in the outside:
But mostly inside.
The stairs down to the main caves are finished at last:
But still hunreds of hours in works left to do...
The funny-looking mountain next to the caves has been remodeled:
And finally, one of the new projects...behind X-Cross and SkyRise, a big empty zone has been prepared to build a stadium. The first facade tests are now being done.
And a bonus!
A render of my first house in Munduno!
Apart from all this, lots of smaller fixes and improvements have been made, but they're too small to be listed. Munduno will keep growing! More updates soon.
Also, i'll provide new links both for the world and the texture pack very soon.
Yay! An update. Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it?
But again, this is just amazing. The construction, layout, the fact it's just you, the park style, and how far you've come overall. Amazing job, sir!
Well, i wanted to give an update with more than just a few things, to show a good bunch of new stuff, that's why i waited more than usual...
And i have to say, i'm also amazed by how far this has went. I remember looking at amazing things done in Minecraft (back then and now, of course), and when i finished the Pinaculum building, i thought it was nice, and i was very proud of it (No creative mode, non-infinite inventory, like it should be...i didn't even know you could avoid falling off cliffs by crouching, so i died dozens of times in the process) but it was just a medium-sized skyscraper (Well, by today's standards) in the middle of nowhere, so i'm really happy to see what it is now, the amount of things done, and how everything is now connected all together, back then i'd never thought Munduno would look this awesome...but it needs to grow more, of course!
The good thing is, the things that were bad are now right, the unfinished projects are being finished (or at least, being worked on) and since now my friend is in the world too, things can speed up nicely, and since our tastes are pretty similar, this works well.
And now, we have plenty of things to do. Finishing the maze, SkyRise's interiors (The floors are still empty) the multicolor caves (This will take centuries, though...they're REALLY big!), building the stadium, and...surprise, a new skyscraper! (I'll tell you more about that when we get the details straight about how it will be done)
So as i said in the original post (which i edited today), this was never meant to be the best, biggest, or any record holder world on Minecraft, just the one i dreamt about, and every day, it just keeps getting closer to that vision, so i'm also very proud to see all the people in the thread liked it...i know my style can be troublesome sometimes (I'm trying to be more original with materials for future builds) but at least, i know i'm making a unique world...well, like every Minecraft world, but one made the way i like, that's the greatest thing about the game, without any dobut.
Oh, and sorry for the long post, i just got carried away...but it's really hard to avoid that right now!
Here's another render, BTW. The underwater tunnel, which looks stunning in this one!
I know the glowstone is more white, but whats the other one?
Well, the Jack-o-Lantern is now a red glowstone, the Nether Brick is now metal (the original purpose was just to change the Nether Fences, but they share the texture), the rails are now narrower (all of them), the minecarts have a Metro livery applied to them, the signs now have a darker border, and i think that's all.
Also, i don't know if i said it before, the iron block texture i'm using is the "old" one, the new one with the "stripes" on it doesn't looks as good as the one before it, in my opinion.
Do you remember the hole below the Pinaculum?
Now it looks like this.

But remember that the Skyrise Hotel was also in a superflat world until i found a perfect spot for it. I'll find where to add them, it's just a matter of time.
Just the rails and boosters missing. It's a quite long tunnel, and in some parts, it was a nightmare to build.
One making off pic...just one block above the water, this part kept flooding all the time...
More things...
the underwater tunnel. Now the water leaks are fixed, and the whole roof is see-through (The first steps weren't)
I also fixed the wooden double doors at National Park, which were still bugged after the last updates. Now all double doors are working fine!
