Star Wars ships are all stupidly massive. A standard, normal, run of the mill Imperial Star Destroyer is like a mile long, and Vader's Super Star Destroyer was 11 miles long!
Compare that to the Enterprise D from Star Trek, which was considered a massive ship in Starfleet (and future designs would be smaller) was little over half a mile long.
Star Wars Ship sizes are pretty reasonable. The main reason they are so much bigger than star trek ships is because the star trek universe is so much smaller/less populated. Only a tiny, miniscule fraction of the worlds in star trek are inhabited. In Star Wars, the galaxy is much further along in the civilisation timeframe, and as such is absolutely teeming with life. Instead of just a handfull of human worlds to draw construction materials/crew/personel from, and to defend/patrol/intimidate, theres hundreds of thousands of them, so you can make much bigger ships, and more of them in such a setting. (The star wars settings population density/size might sound unrealistic, but its actually fairly accurate if you take into account the theory that galaxies/universes can fill up with life in a few hundred million years)
Anyways, on the build, that thing looks fantasic. Too bad your going to lose a bit of detail due to scaling issues, but other wise can't wait to see it fully made. Will it have a detailed interior? Or at least detailed hangar interiors?

Yes, as we, BuffyBaoss and myself, plan on recreating the Battle of Naboo scene where Anakin blows the ship up, we will be working on the interior, making it as accurate as we can.
*EDIT* Wow, that was ALOT of commas... :tongue.gif:
Next use MCEdit to make the blockade and build that underwater city thing! Then make the Red Republican ship inside one of them and a TnT cannon pointing at it! Then re-live the epicness...
I, like you, am a hardcore fan.
Also, retexture skeletons into droids and have them STORM THE PLANET!!!

nothing is ever too big for minecraft! its kind of ironic that i saw this post because im currently working the radiant VII which landed inside of it. Sadly you wont be able to fit it in there because this thing is 340 blocks wide and i dont know how long yet since i only have some of the rear 3rd done. at this point i project it to be 500 or maybe even more blocks long when im done with it. but anyways keep up the great work man!
Details will be added once we have finished up the main interior look. Texturepack is definitively a WIP, which will be developed alongside the build...
You guys must've put So much effort and work into this! Even though it's not done, I'm speechless...
And I thoguht MY creations were good lol
Yeah, it takes quite some time considering how many circles are actually in this build. I think we spent at least an hour or two on just that very first section of the starboard hangar (app. 1/16 of the whole thing) even though it is way smaller than the other sections... Thanks!
When it comes to building something by yourself, remember that the only limitation is your own imagination :wink.gif:
Very big very nice, but you could have made it twice as large if you removed the earth below it. Plus, then you would have a realistic black void!
EDIT: Derp. Never mind about that void part. Just the size.

I will be sure to post both a download link, as well as a .schematic file!
Thank you :smile.gif:

Well THAT would've been epic.
