Vigil Pier is situated on the shore nearest to the spawn point. Its villagers watch for new adventurers and help them get their start in a dangerous world.
My favorite building is the inn, which is the large two-gabled structure. The owners' family lives in the basement, the tavern is the main floor, and bedrooms and balcony are on the second floor. The attic is accessible as well, and provides extra storage space.
This is small and humble work compared to other things I see here, but I enjoyed making it, and hope you've enjoyed taking a look.
The sign on the pumpkin is the perfect touch. Its too bad there are no NPCs in the game - the village could definitely use them. Maybe a few tame wolves to greet the newcomers?

I agree; NPCs would be nice here, and for villages in general. I like your idea with the tame wolves; I may tame a few to make the place feel more welcoming.
I really liked this build, both the farm & the tower along with the pumpkins and the sea-side wooden houses made this look very cozy :smile.gif:.
Thanks! I've recently ported Vigil Pier over to a new 1.8 world using MCEdit. Since then I've tried prettying up a few of the buildings using ideas from emily_2010's creations and guide. But I'll try not to go overboard, or the village will end up looking too fancy-pants. It should maintain the simplicity that befits an adventurer's outpost. When I start working on my steampunk metropolis New Kathiton, however, I'll go all out.
Anyway, once I finish the prettying-up I'll post some "after" shots. :smile.gif:

I've given the inn a makeover. Take a look:
I like the new look fairly well, but I think it might be a little too busy. What do you think?
"sometimes, wizards are so awesome, it hurts"
