Post a screenshot and what you want help with. I'll then do 1 of 3 things:
1. Hop on your server if it's on SMP and tell/show you how to improve it.
2. Download your map if you have one and improve it for you and tell you what I did.
3. (If no ss and general question) Reply with an answer of godlike proportions.
Advice #1(obvious):
Flat walls are a NO in most cases. People often think too hard on the actual shape of the build, as to what to do with it when they have it. You can dress up a complete cube and make it look nice, you don't need a complicated build to turn it fancy. Such example can be found in my topics.
(more to come, I want to reply to your personal Q's first)
Oh, I have a question. I don't know how to give you the save, but maybe you can just give me some pointers that I can do myself.
I'm doing this church, and I feel like it's just not quite right as far as the 'roof' of the two side pillars go. And if there's something to make the front of it look better.
I'm doing it 'legit' (just learned what that was today), so that might be something to keep in mind, too.
Wow, I had a very large thing written then I refreshed the page xD, Anyways as I was writing, that's very impressive for a player who is just learning what 'legit' is!
A few things you may want to do is push all window/window pane blocks inward one block to add more depth, as I see you're already trying to do. Remove the wool from under the windows or connect it to either side of the wall so that it isn't sticking out in a blocky manner, and adds flow to the build. However if you just remove it and push the windows in, feel free to add a half slab there just for looks, very common, but not unappreciated. I'd remove the steps on the top of the towers, and put them ontop of the brick facing you, directly under the cobble and go around. I'd love to help more, but I'm still helping "God." with his xD
If I move the windows inwards, won't that be visible from inside?
Yes, the wool looks blocky. I would like something less so, but if I set them into the walls, then again it will cause it to show from the inside. I want it to look nice from inside, too.
I have not used stairs up above, because I can't make 'corners' with them. I was trrrrying... for peaks on top of those, lol.
'trying' being the operative word here.
And thank you. This little city I'm building here is my first attempt at building something on a large scale. I see all of these things created in other programs and whatnot, and I want to beat my head against the wall. I do know about creative mode, but I'm not that hot on creative mode because destroying is far too fast.
Now I'm too far into it to move over to it anyway.
you should make an extreme mine makeover thread. Download projects from planetminecraft and completely pimp them out and post the pictures and tips in it but not the downloads

Totally haha, I hope you'll be down for that! Credit's gotta go to you for the idea though, will be so fun!
How much do you know about middle eastern architecture?
A considerable amount, while nearly all ideas spring from the top of my head. When I lay in bed at night, I can see dozens of things I'd like to do, and I have a journal next to me to sketch/write ideas, as this is when I'm at my most creative for some reason.
Honestly, with that texture pack, I can hardly tell what the hell is going on with it o.O
Since it's so small, there's not much room for renovation on the inner part, however the landscaping, and outer wall can take much more work. I'll help you in the morning, but for now
I have a small issue with working out path structure for a city im making. If you have time PM and ill get you the ip of the server to check it out. Thanks

I've been wanting to do it for awhile but I was afraid it would offend people.. It probably would ;p I do it on most of the servers I go to and usually it turns out awesome.
I'd like to know if I should give it a trim of a different material around the whole outside of the building, how I would go with trimming it, and what material I should use. Also any 'royal' decorations interior and exterior that I should add before proceeding onto the next floor.
It's hosted on my server but it is not always up and uses hamachi.

Sure, I can help you with it when you get on! If you don't mind, send me the hamachi information in a message and I can show you some neat ideas for lighting and trim!

If you like, I can post it w/o texture pack.

Gothic Manor
Hotel Facade
Decor log.
Among MANY undisclosed projects all of the same quality.

How do you think I could improve that mosque?

GOODNIGHT! :biggrin.gif:
Have a look at my current project. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/666765-imperial-city-build/
