Here's a few screenies from my current world, custom seeded with the name "Soulfinger", my all-time favorite funk song.
HQ - Day One
I spawned just south of here on lose sand that immediately dumped me into the water. A short trip inland revealed this interesting cliff structure. An abundance of sand and coal helped me whip-up this stylish dwelling in no-time.
HQ - Fast Forward
A more recent pic of my home base. Inside the main house is a mineshaft leading into the extensive cave network running crazy through the area. The portal leads to a hub in the Nether where cobblestone and glass pathways fan out in all directions, leading to portals to far-away lands. The "sun-sphere" is currently being constructed into the face of the cliff. It will either be completely faced inside with glowstone or merely bisected with them and the top half will be filled with water. I'll definitely fill the top with water if Notch ever adds sharks.
The north exit from my Nether hub. This is the original pathway leading away from the base, it dives under the lava and into the mountain only to emerge at the bottom where it then leads off to a portal that exits at cloud-level in the outside world.
One of portals I built in the Nether dumped me into a huge cave system running under the ocean. I built this dome on the sea bed over the portal cavern to allow quick access to the surface. The small cobblestone hole to the left is another route to and from the cave system under the water.
Creeper Skull Mountain
That portal I mentioned earlier that exits at cloud level drops me out at the top of another very interesting cliff. Its more like a hollow, square tube with generous chunks of cliffside missing between the crown and the base on one side. I had wanted to build a creeper skull on a mountain and this seemed like as good a place as any. So good, in fact, that I built two (and am thinking of adding more). Funny side-note: while constructing the second skull, a real creeper snuck up on me and blew-up a good portion of the skull's face. doh!
Creeper Skull Mountain
A third Creeper Skull can be seen from a small house I built on the beach at the base of the mountain. The beach house and this skull, along with the other two skulls in the previous pic, are all connected to a dome I constructed next to the exit portal on top of the mountain.
Sadly I dont have any pictures of my single player server, But I do like all of these photos expecially the one where his world seed was "soulfinger" I just liked the way you did some status checks around your House/base but you also had other projects you were building/built.
I always wanted to build something big. So when I ran out of ideas I thought I would take a stab at El Castillo temple at Chichen-Itza. Originally built in minecraft by awesomemattg on YouTube. However there is 1 thing different between mine and his. Mine is being built on a server a friend of mine is hosting. So there is more than 1 person building. So weeks are reduced to days.
Great job Frak Sinatra! I like how all of your builds work more with the landscape rather than leveling it all out and starting from scratch. They're not as large builds as some things I've seen, but why does everything have to be humongous, anyway? Each was well thought out and decorated appropriately. I like 'em. =)
Three screenshots of a creeper I just killed with my diamond sword through the double iron doors on the south side of the west perimeter wall around my castle.
That's a nice everything you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it. Too bad for him; he can't attack me through those doors.
In the middle of my first blow. BOOM! Headshot!
Second blow. He's toast, and I got 2 gunpowder.
I've killed quite a few skeletons and creepers through the iron doors. There's another pair of doors on the north side of the same wall, and it is easily reachable from the ground. There are two on the east wall at ground level on either side of a minecart station I built nearby. I got a lot of mob kills, especially skeletons and creepers, through the doors on the east and west walls, but few on the north and south, which are both up a long flight of stairs, and about 9-10 blocks above the ground.
...rain causes fire? Can't have been the lightning, the rain puts out the fire straight away, before anything can burn.
It was the lightning. That night it was lightning all around me and it must have struck the building. After it burned down, another lightning struck just 2 blocks ahead of me...so..I knew it was lightning lol. And rain puts it out most of the time (the fire) but not always if it spreads fast.
-2.5 square KM covering outer walls (0.5 km long on one side)
-walls will be 22+ blocks high above surface, 9 blocks deep below surface
-walls will be 11 blocks thick
-inner frame of walls is an iron superstructure
-uses lava and torch lighting
-towers will be built at certain intervals along the path of the wall
-construction and iteration of kinds of blocks will follow an 'odd pattern' rule
-Wall will have a water moat on the outside
-wall will have a boat travel path on the inside
-Walls will possess dispenser-based defenses
-outer wall will have iterated slanted side-towers with netherrack fires (inspired by lotr)
-will be ascetically pleasing when final construction is complete
-numerous secret passageways
-Once the massive outer wall is completed, the huge inner area will be left empty and it will be uploaded as a server city template, with bedrock underneath the walls down to the bottom of the map so as to prevent the possibility of underground invasion.
-It's intended to be able to hold up for awhile against siege from tnt cannons while not being absolutely invulnverable, and be completely mob-proof. -The minimal 3 blocks to the outside rule is in place so that creeper will not blow up next to it because no matter what, they're never be within 2 blocks of you when you're inside the wall.
-Walls are obsidian insulated
-Powered minecart paths inside the walls
-I haven't decided whether to have windows or not yet, as they are a structural weakness.
Progress so far (default texture pack for now):
What you're seeing is the beginning of the structure of the underground portion of the wall.
(The lava spewing out is temporary, because currently it's a showing cross-section of the wall.)
This is going to be HUGE. It's not so much a castle as it is a ridiculously huge, industrially useful and highly defensible wall for a city. I hope to see people put it to use for empire PVP eventually when it's completed. Yes, I'm cheating to construct it. Once I have one basic segment structure of the entire wall completed, I'll use MCedit to copy-paste it everywhere.
Construction of the segment that will be cloned about 250 times in progress (8 blocks long - the wall is going to be designed for matching up with chunks):
The 'lip' on this segment is not for stopping spiders. It marks where the above-surface portion of the wall begins.
A secondary, very similar but also quite different segment will be added onto it once the first half of this segment is completed. that has the 'slanted netherrack towers' I was talking about. The secondary segment will contain dispenser-based defense systems and other things I haven't decided on yet. (guard quarters, armory, maybe a few turrets...)
Was trying to build my farm when I fell off in the forest and got mugged. 7 Spiders + 1 Zombie came after me. There were many more spiders coming for me, so I think in total 10 spiders, 3 zombies, and a skeleton archer chased me down. It took about 6 times dying to get my stuff back. Yeah, it was suicide. The server lagged a bit and so the spiders would stay underwater like submarines then pop out and kill me. Yup, they must think I am good meat.
Nothing impressive at first glance, but this is built at the bottom of the 404 cave. (I'm not doing the full challenge since I'm using torches, but I haven't been to the surface since I started.)
This is the same thing from a narrower angle.
And then there's my... uh... I guess you could call it a living room.
The bench is named the way it is because it took a very long time to get the correct conditions to grow the trees needed to make it and the bookshelves during which time I was running on the small amount of wood I had gathered at the surface the first day.
