Oh yeah, and did I mention, he's a GIANT wolf!! Lemme know what ya think of him!
Modeled as close as I could get to the wolves seen in Jeb's video, this one stands guard next to my Twin Dungeon Outpost (named for what resides beneath it, as you probably guessed). It was a bit of a challenge...these things are more detailed than any of the other mobs, so I had to approximate in some places. I think he turned out great though. Not quite as big as I thought it would be when I started it; 13 blocks tall, 8 blocks wide, and 27 blocks nose-to-tail.
He looked very strange with his tail sticking straight out like they do in the video, so he holds his at "half-mast".
His ear isn't really on fire, it's the torch tower behind him.
EDIT - 23 June 2012: It's been a while since I've revisited Wooly, and a lot has changed since then. His home got ravaged by the biome changes in 1.2, and he had to grow some torches on his back to fend off the snow. I've been thinking about relocating the beast, since I hate coming here now. Snow sucks.
It- It's beautiful! That's not what she said :wink.gif:
Seriously though, congratulations on making that! I am personally horrible at pixel art in minecraft. (All I can do is notch - well, at least he smiles in my art!
You might want to change the title. People will think this is some N00B thread and not reply in it because of the title. Never judge a book by it's title cover thing!!11!!1eleven!

Would You Survive a Skeleton Apocalypse? Worse than creepers. Click the image below.
His health must be low.
Better feed him a giant piece of pork.
Edit; where is the collar?
The eyes imply it was tamed but the lack of collar says otherwise.
Hahaha, I knew someone would call me out on that one. He's collarless for the same reason his ears aren't dark around the edges...because there aren't any blocks that can be different colors on different sides..........yet... :tongue.gif:
I'll try some red wool around his neck, maybe it won't look totally silly.
yousefak, you're probably right about the title. Thanks for the tip.
Very, very nice work. all my woolen structures get burned down in "accidents" though... Nothing like the sight of a three story ghast burning in the morning.
uhh... what the heck? the first pictures werent in water. now notch will need to add wolf teleportation..
Lol...The first pics are the original Wooly I built by hand in my main world. Wooly-with-a-collar is a clone I popped into a test world with the schematic since I wasn't sure about the collar idea.
I think I'm starting to warm up to the collar though. I'll have to play around with some different colors...
I forgot to mention in the first post, Wooly is completely hollow, and there's actually a ladder going up his front-right leg to the inside. Anyone who likes to play with should appreciate that. :smile.gif:
This is really awesome! But... did you make it pixel perfect? I mean, there's no current released texture for the wolf, so did you really just copy the textures from what you saw in the video?

Sadly, it is not pixel perfect, because that would be an impossibility. If you look closely at a wolf's face, you can see that his head is 6 pixels wide, with a 3 pixel wide snout centered on it. Since one can't place blocks halfway between other blocks like that, Wooly's snout became 4 pixels wide.
Other than that, I just got as close as I could by referencing several frames of just the video, taking artistic liberties here and there to make it look right when built out of blocks.
I'm glad you guys like it, thanks for the compliments!

Wait... so instead of a 'wolf in sheeps clothing' this is a 'creeper in wolves clothing' kinda thing?
Exactly! :biggrin.gif: He can totally be your Trojan Horse!

More of a "creeper in wolves clothing made out of sheep's wool".
But of course! Wouldn't want and spawning in my own backyard at night, now would I? If mobs want me, they gotta take a little hike to get to me. :wink.gif:
