EDIT: Since some people have been wondering, the part of the wall can be infinitely high and still work, it is small in the model merely to show a compact version.
I just want to post my own 'wall' that I thought up today. Its even griefer resistant in multiplayer, which is shocking. I can think of at least one way to make a floor that is auto repairable too, but thats beyond the point.
[] [] [] <---- Cobble is to keep climbing monsters out.
[] [] <---- Only put water on the upper left spot, rest falls.
[] [] <---- Arch is optional, to keep climbing monsters in.
[] [] <---- The perfect auto repair system.* ALL STATIONARY LAVA!
[] [] <---- Anything can be behind the lava. explanation^
<---- ground
[] <---- Trench to drown enemies. Blank can be anything.
<---- water sends all drops to collection point on left.
* The auto repair system is the best there is, much better than 'falling replacement blocks'. Whenever one of the cobblestone is destroyed, the lava will flow into it. The lava collides with the water, and forms cobblestone. And then everything is exactly like it was before, perfectly reusable! All lava MUST be stationary! Otherwise it won't work at all!
^ At first I believed that the backup to the lava had to be obsidian, to prevent creeper explosions from destroying the auto repair system. But then after some tests, I realized that the explosion is completely absorbed by the lava. I tested it with TNT, which I believe is actually stronger than what creepers can do. Therefor, it can be SAND! If on multiplayer, however, it is recommended.
Actually, now that i think about it, the auto repair system isn't even necessary... how will the AI harm the wall without explosions... but hey, what if your on multiplayer? :happy.gif: extra preparation.
Actually, even as I typed this I came up with a great improvement for it, which I have put into above.
This wall will absorb any creeper explosion you throw at it. TNT cannot destroy the wall by itself. In the event of the wall being harmed (somehow... multiplayer griefer?) it will auto repair itself with the SAME MATERIAL! The water will drown any monster (and griefers who haven't figured it out yet) and then collect its drops! Etc, etc...
Aesthetics? Well, if you don't have the arch, then it merely looks like a barrier of water (a water dome? It's not bad...) and if you do have the arch, well, I don't really know.
The wall itself can only be destroyed if you can isolate the water, and I assure you, no AI can do that :happy.gif: a creeper surrounded by TNT couldn't dent it. And I don't mean it would get 'auto repaired' it wouldn't need to be. The water acts as an explosion blocker (similar to obsidian).
Well, theres my idea. The only possible flaw I can see is a spider crawling through the collecting hole, if for some reason it didn't climb the wall, but this can be solved by putting fire around the spot the water ends.
Seeing as people are still trying to make "self-repairing" walls, for some reason... I shall post mine... But it's more complicated than just the diagram.
Self repairing walls:
- Waste a LOT of lava...
- See the diagram below? Areas like the grass will still be destroyed, and you probably can't make self-repairing grass :biggrin.gif:
- In the below design (not really recommended), and a LOT of other people's designs, after the front cobble is destroyed, the water will flow forward, really messing the looks up... However, the drowner should still work fine enough... And you can easily spot a leak...
So here's a wall with stupid, pointless self-repairing: Unlike a lot of others, this retains a bit of function, though.
- Mob farming abilities, internal transportation, spider killing, etc.

<- Ladder (Helps with pigs, otherwise they fall onto the track)
-> Pig dispenser! (Put some sort of trap here, grinder, whatever.)
<- Note the glass, it is REQUIRED, and will magically not work with a Cobblestone.
<- Minecart, CRUCIAL to the design. this thing collects every item, and such. MAKE SURE you have open spaces in your inventory, a Full inventory = no picking up = items mess with the cart.
However, if you really feel that prioritizing the self-repairing for looks, and other sacrifices:
<- Ladder (Helps with pigs, otherwise they fall onto the track)
-> Pig dispenser! (Put some sort of trap here, grinder, whatever.)
<- Note the glass, it is REQUIRED, and will magically not work with a Cobblestone.
<- Minecart, CRUCIAL to the design. this thing collects every item, and such. MAKE SURE you have open spaces in your inventory, a Full inventory = no picking up = items mess with the cart.
I believe that this design is able to drown spiders, ensuring 100% collection. Also, this design has a COMPLETELY repairing center area... Even though it really doesn't do much, except waste lava... Lastly, if you somehow STILL think that you are going to get creeper explosions, they don't harm blocks while submerged in water... On that note, it's time for another design!

Creepers don't harm blocks while in Water... However, I don't know why a creeper would go off in the first place...
Now, there is one flaw with this design... But one gain from it... That is, if a spider's string gets dropped in the still water, it will be stuck.
I'm waiting for someone to make a lame Chuck Norris joke or a lame insult.
On-Topic: I'd try, but I'm currently STILL trying to find myself a good world, and even after that, I'd have to settle in, get the mats, ect. That'd be a good 3 months.

I know what could work for a table! You could use fence poles with wooden slabs on top! It's a little taller than what you wanted, but it should still work.
Key:
= wood slab = fence pole

WOAH, WAIT. Our eyes take pictures? Please tell me I can recover these pictures from another person.
You have to stick a thumb drive up their nose, drag and drop the pictures onto it, and then load them through your ear.

Griefer-resistant, my ass. There are 3 layers between the highest lava block and the actual map ceiling. I can get over that thing with just a stack of sand/gravel/dirt/wool/anything. Don't even need tools.

It'd look better with different paintings. Still using the default textures, of course.
Different paintings as in a variety of paintings, or different then the ones currently displayed?
On an other note I'm planning on building a graveyard based on both the Raven Hill Cemetery and the Karazhan Crypt from WoW.
