Rastadogg, Laserpanda, and I (TheHANGOVER) made this a bit ago, its been about 3 months since anyone worked on it. We kinda abandoned it when we started on the Circus Maximus (Far from finished) and then laser left us (to play other games). But here it is in all its (unfinished) glory a 1:1 scale replica of the Roman Coliseum (Colosseum, Flavian amphitheater, what ever suits you.)
Overview
And the arena
And bananazorz just finished making us a video of it. Check it out.
We made it; well I should say 'got to this point', in just 9 days. All Rasta and me and (hopefully) laser have to do is finish with the fine details. We need to add stairs from the ground floor to the second, stairs from the second floor to the third, need to do the barrel ceilings inside, add more entrances to the stands, o and build the Hypogeum (the basment).
In other news, The Circus Maximus (You have no idea what it is? look it up this isnt a history lesson >:|) is far from finished. Heres a pic so you can see,
Now the circus arena goes on for about 600 blocks (add another 20 for the stands), reason I'm saying this is that its Loonnnnngggggg, putting it shortly. To put in perspective, far beyond my render distance is a mountain range, on the other side of that mountain range is where the arena for the Circus ends.
If you want to see the pics I took each day as sort of a 'builders log', read a 3 month old post, and see how bad I can spell, click the link below (its a old article in a now locked mega thread so you cant post in it.)
Side note, Laserpanda is/was working on a 1:1 scale titanic, that has also since been semi abandoned.
Sorry we will not be giving a download link anytime soon or at all, It's still being worked on and will most likely be worked on for awhile. Its not just the Roman Coliseum but a majority of Rome that we are working on.
Thanks, we loved making it. but pics are nothing compaired to standing in it, its huge and as accurate to the real thing as minecraft can make it. (just a few meters off)
And heres the latest carto you can see almost all of the Circus :biggrin.gif:
And a pic of Laserpandas titanic that deserves to be thrown up anywhere.
(Its built into the ground to prevent sinking from landbergs.)
wow that is insane! Definitely hacked in supplies right? Cause it would be insanely insane if you guys did it legit lol..
The titanic was looking AMAZING, too bad its abandoned :sad.gif: Good job! I would love to do stuff like this with people. But none of my friends play minecraft.
If you ever want another person to help out I'm a 26 year old guy that loves playin me some minecraft so I'm not an immature little kid.

Haha yea we hacked in the blocks. God the quarry we'd have to dig for that would be insane. And if you want to join the server all the info you need should be in my sig. :biggrin.gif:
Also the Circus Maximus was a stadium for chariot races. Just in case you wanted to know.

In the beginning, Notch created the Nether and the Earth, and in it he made a man of sand and called him Steve. Notch made Steve strong so that he may punch wood, and lo, Steve was to have dominion over all square things.
I went to Rome the other year, they're looking pretty fecking accurate and spectacular.
I'm curious, did you even build the arch and circus maximus in the correct postion relative to the colliseum? Planning the Forum and whole Palatine hill too?
They are in the relative location, its not 100% accurate but they are placed where they should be. Given that MC is on a grid the angles are off, but we arent going for a 100% replica of the entire city of Rome. We're kinda just going for a bunch of iconic buildings and a lot of very large Romanesque buildings to fill in the spaces. But no plans yet for Palatine hill or the Forums. The next thing we were planning for the city was the 3 gladiator schools next to the Coliseum.

All of the curves were planned out in MsPaint.
Also, about the Titanic. One deck isn't very accurate, so the plan is to tear it out and rebuild it. I've just been putting it off.
Jeez that's going to be a lot of work, I would never do that lol
