Now that the leaf decay has been fixed, I’ve finally been able to work on and finish my World Tree, Forest, and large Swamp areas. Though, I’m not sure I like the roots for the world tree. I made them so they stick up out of the ground and the blockiness of the Minecraft world doesn’t lend very well to artisticness of bare roots and limbs in smaller design resolutions. I’ve been working on the World Tree for 3 months now.
Here are a few screenshots of what things look like right now (in case you can’t tell, the world tree is that massive trunk and canopy that casts a shadow over everything in a few pics),
*edit: duplicate image removed
I’m currently designing a cathedral. It is taking forever and I‘ve only been working on the vaulted ceilings!

Here are a few pics of my latest lighthouse. It is meant to be a replica of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, however, I did not make the sides sloped as they should be. My first light house has the sloped sides (which you can see in the Old Alpha Thread link above.) I confess, I got lazy. Sloped sides take a long time to plan out. At least this one won’t burn down like the other one did that one time. lol I may use an editor like MCEdit to move this lighthouse to a better looking location. I was inspired when I built it (because I has soooo many buckets of lava in the Nether at the time), and didn’t explore to find a good location at the time.
Wow, this thread keeps getting better and better. Congrats on all those different massive trees and castles. I’ve been making my island much more diverse and dense with growth. It is turning into a jungle. Here are a few screenshots of the island. The first is a MCMap image. The rest are various places around and inland of the island. There are 2 images of my cathedral during construction; it is celebrating my 100th death in that world. Above and below the canopy of the forest is like being in 2 different worlds.
No, I did the large trees' designs, from the surface up, by hand legit. Then I used MCEdit to copy and paste them all over the place as well as give them roots. The trees that climb like vines, the palm trees, and the pine trees I did 100% in MCEdit. What I have done with the island in regard to terraforming it into a new biome would probably take many real years of legit work. As it stands, it has taken many months to get this far.

how wide is the lighthouse?
i'd like to know
20 blocks wide at the base for the red and white lighthouse and 17 blocks wide at the base for the black and white lighthouse.
Probably a lot less impressive since I liberally used MCEdit and InvEdit...but I think it looks good. And it was fun to build.
It's a bit beyond my draw distance...
A closer look:
The rather empty interior:
And finally the Cartograph:
I'm using Eld's texture pack along with BetterLight. It's based very loosely off of Moscow's Crystal Island, a megastructure (in real life) that is in the planning phase. Look it up if you want some inspiration; it's spectacular and looks a lot better than this Minecraft structure.
I started working on a weird house inside somewhere, but I don't think I like how it turned out. Anyway, here's the save since people requested it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43096/MC/World5.zip Disclaimer: the interior is not even close to finished; there's tons of empty space. Also there isn't an entrance yet, so you have to climb out on dirt blocks or something. And there's lots of spots mobs can spawn, so set it on peaceful if you don't want issues.
Holy F dude that looks awesome. I now must set out to build something similar without edit tools!
And something from the project I'm working on, it looked so good that I had to take a picture, the shadow it casts is also cool
i'd like to know
