I love that castle. It's simply very very realistic, with nice use of cobble trims. Most castles I normally see are giant "HERP DERP COBBLE CASTLE".
Thanks! I always try to break up large surfaces with ledges and trims in different materials, makes it a lot more interesting to look at, IMHO. :smile.gif:
This is my Floating Island Cabin Chalet. Built by hand with legit materials (other than Lightstone) on my SMP server. It took me around 2 weeks to do. I started with a 27 wide circle then built the base underneath then all the dirt on top.
I have yet to finish the inside...
You can also see the Island(s) that it is attached to that my friend is building. Also pardon the crappy dirt bridge, I am waiting for Notch to implement those wooden half blocks then I am going to build a sweet rope bridge.
That is truly beautiful.
One question-did you build the floating islands as well, or were they part of the terrain generation? If they were your creation, they look totally organic and natural to the terrain. :smile.gif:

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, my MCOCD (Minecraft OCD) self built them from scratch. To get the grass up there I had to build a dirt stair up to the dirt layer and let the grass grow, that took a while as well.
I am planning on adding a cpl other islands for tree, wheat, cane farms and connecting them.
I will post pictures of the inside when I am done with that :smile.gif:

ok i am not gonna lie to you all. some of these projects have made me ashamed of the castle i am currently working on, but (and it saddens me to say this) some of them have made me want to vomit! lols seriously but hey most are really good and as soon as my castle and city that i want to build is finished and i feel its presentable i will post of pictures to hear your thoughts :smile.gif:
I know it's not as good as anything on here, but I tried.
Its a rough draft for a temple/palace/idol thing.
It looks pretty nether-y right now, and it doesn't look that bad. I suck at pixel art so I could never do Notch's face so its way better than anything of mine. Good job = p.
Off topic: Is this Notch screaming and showing his teeth, or smiling with a beard?

Hey guys, I need you to give me some feedback on a western house I made! It's part of a village I'm building outside my fort so please tell me what you think!
-snip-
Heh, that looks really awesome. Bastion in the desert.

Here's a little gateway I built. I got inspiration from another design.

I remember a few days ago seeing a video, not in this thread, of somebody who had really nice rafters. But I can't find it again. Anybody else maybe know how to do them?
A nice looking house overlooking the ocean.
My little spawn house on the same world.
My first attempt at a nice looking house
Inside of one of my houses (only picture I could find, sorry)
Loving the buildings in this thread! Getting many ideas and loads of inspiration! Keep up the good work! for all...

This is the Aesthetically PLEASING Homes/Buildings thread, not the Buildings You Put Together After A Concussion thread. Try Again People!
Some of them are really great, but a lot of them really are terrible.
OT: I have a castle I just made, and will post pics of it later. I know castles have been done but I sorta based mine on this:
