Everytime I come here I find more structures that I have never thought to build.
I am not getting the full experience out of this game...
It's incredibly inspiring creatively! You see how others use different shapes and textures, and it really puts one in a landscaping/generally creative mood. Best is when the structure is aesthetic yet also useful for monster gameplay.
I recently created a nice little house on a multiplayer server with some of my friends, and I thought it looked quite nice. It's an L-design, a little boring on the interior, and a little empty on the exterior (docks? watchtower? animal farm?), and nowhere NEAR as impressive as some of the builds I've seen here. Nonetheless, I thought it might be nice to post.
The view from my brick road, note the glowstone lamps.
The main room, with a crafting center to the left, an indoor tree, and a small loft.
The crafting center. I was inspired by this thread to use crafting benches as floor tiles.
The back corner, with two boring couches. Ideas?
The loft, with my bed and a tiny 3x3 library around the corner.
My itsy bitsy greenhouse, which you may have spotted in the first picture.
Overhead activate! Ignore the dirt chimney, 1x1 spire, standalone fireplace, and cage in the corner. It IS multiplayer...
There's a cliff between my house and the sea, I was thinking of putting a dock in there. What do you guys think?
(Texturepack is a barely edited Clean Lines v.1.61, no mods were used)
This is my mansion I built located on my private island on a private Smp server. Everything built here is legit no cheating/spawning items etc. Previous to this house I used to have a miniature "Falling Water" on the same site but I demolished that. The 200 some odd lapis needed for the roof was mined for about 2 days time on layers 18-20 mining every other row. After that I proceeded to search for sheep to dye in order to maximize the amount of light blue wool gained. It took roughly, just a week to complete and work is still on going adding things here and there.
Underneath the mansion are my "Catacombs", like I assume all have...it is a huge network of mines, song rooms, storage, and 55Wx55Lx8H monster trap...
Enjoy!

This thread not only inspired me to try my hand at building pretty things (a definite challenge compared to the big and ugly but functional bases I usually make) but also got me to finally quit just lurking and register for the forum. So I've come to get some feedback on my first attempt so I can hopefully build even more pretty things!
This is my cabin in the Holey Valley! Planning to add a bunch of flowers inside the fence once I return to my main base for glowstone.
First floor interior. A tad dark and boring. Previously has a fireplace along that blank back wall (before it burned my cabin down twice and had to suffer for it).
My bedroom with a nice big picture window that overlooks a slowly growing forest of replanted trees.
Here's a back view from the balcony.
Sadly my view of the ocean is currently obstructed, but leveling a little hill like that is a challenge I'm more accustomed to.
So please let me know what you think and how I can improve!
Painterly. That's not much help since Painterly lets you build the pack by choosing from a lot of options. The exact pack used is bundled in with my castle download (see sig).
Hello :3! My little house is tiny compared to some of the huge castles and bases a lot of you have but that's alright with me.
I'm one of those folks who tries to build.. well within their means? realistically? I dunno.
This is the front. Behind the home is an ocean bay where I'll eventually build a staircase down to the shore and a dock.
I really like having a proper entrance with double doors and lights. However, I discovered a problem with the doubledoors.. Mobs can enter them. Previously I hadn't know this was a problem because my bedroom was always behind another door. However in this house, I have a loft.
The foyer. The single door on the left is how I fixed my rude mid-night awakenings. The door on the right is a storage room. I'm not quiet sure what to do with this room. More crafting tables? More furnaces? More chests? Perhaps.
The living room. The stairs lead up to my loft and also down to my mine which is Phoenix's Expandable mine. I am also thinking of putting a tree-farm down there but I'm also thinking about building perhaps outer buildings that resemble a village around me. I had a wonderfully convenient forest fire due to an exposed lava lake so everything has been well cleared.
The fireplace. Right now lit by torches. Maybe in the future nether rack but ONLY after I thoroughly read up on fire prevention. I found wonderful tutorial on it somewhere on here..
The loft bedroom. This was causing me so many nightmares. I could not figure out while mobs were spawning. I had two wall thickness and I had doors.. but it was the double door. There is a small corner library behind this filling in some space.
My upper rooftop terrace. Also known as the Sniper's Nest. There are ladders leading down to the second roof and then to the ground so I can avoid the creepers that like to lurk around my entrance. I may possible put a underground exist down to my dock eventually as well.
By mobs do you mean animals b/c they spawn on grass and I notice you have grass in your house.
No I meant the skeletons and zombies. They were spawning when I slept because one of the doors is glitched to allow them 'in'. I forget which side it is but I read about it in a thread about the sleep-spawning the other day.
I do have grass in my house right now but only because I can't figure out what to replace it with yet. Probably will be cobblestone. I don't mind coming home to a house full of pigs and sheep and cows so far. :smile.gif:
A house I've been working on for quite some time, and I decided that I needed a bit of help with some of the rooms, so I ask you, fellow minecrafters, what do you think of my humble abode?
This is the front of my house. The wooden structure to the right leads to an underground base which is currently unused.
This is what you see when you walk through the doorway, my nice little living room.
Walk straight from the living room, turn left, and kapow, a dinining room with a bar.
Turn to the right and bam. Kitchen.
Enter that little doorway and kablooey. A television room.
Look out of that window at my pool, or an unupdated version of it. updated version will be next, but from a different angle.
Different angle, updated version. I am planning on putting 2 cacti in there.
Back to the kitchen. What is this? stairs?!
The stairs lead to something. The 2nd floor, here is a picture of the birds eye view of it.
There in lies my problem. What should I do with those 2, blank rooms?
But ah yes, the other rooms. Here is my bedroom :
Next to that is my office :
And the unfinished library :
Well that is my house (so far)...
What do you guys think, and what can I do with those 2 blank empty rooms?
That looks amazing. We should play some SMP sometime
Wow, Benzsan - Those are very nice! You seem to have the Modernism House style down very well. I'm normally not a fan of minimalistic but these do very well in Minecraft. Very nice and thank you for sharing them with us.
Started a new house specifically as part of a 1.6 reboot. I started off by finding sugarcane next to a small inlet from a lake, then there was a cave and a hole in the ground so I ended up setting camp by covering it with dirt and using trapdoors to make a cellar-like area. After clearing the cave opposite of the cave I chose, I ended up finding a dungeon so I cleared it and then looted all the moss stone to use as a foundation for the ground floor, and it just kinda grew from there. It isn't pretty from the outside, but the inside layout I find pretty aethetically pleasing so I thought I would share with you this little beauty :smile.gif:.
This is a quick layout so you have a bit of orientation in dealing with my house.
This is the house as seen from the field around it. The problem I have is that I built it flush with the landscape it was near, and now I end up losing sight of it from the reverse slope it is built into. This influenced me to make a second floor, which also is flush from the other side of the slope it is built into, which influenced that little light house beacon you see on top.
This is a little sitting area you see coming in from the main door, with the kitchen through the to the side. I tried to incorporate the "fake structural" parts such as arches into the house but in this picture you don't really see it.
The kitchen with its accompanying pantry/attic. The fridge isn't done, it will have a dispenser on top so that when yo hit the button on the side it gives food while opening the door. Just need to find redstone in this world first.
Also there are flowers outside the house from the kitchen.
The hallway leading to the two staircases, one to the basement, one to the second floor with the offshoots to the master bedroom and bathroom.
Master bedroom, bathroom, and closet respectivly.
This is the study and office on the second floor, accompanied by the trapdoor leading to the lighthouse.
The basement was interesting in that the only room that was all stone was the work room (naturally all stone) because I couldn't make smooth stone during the glitch parts. This is pretty much the house I made in the span of only a few hours.
I plan to add more stuff to it, I want glowstone to be concealed in the dome on the top, and I want to incorporate maps in the study, as well with some sound blocks to give some more interesting design features. However we will see as time goes on. I hope you enjoy :smile.gif:.
my first base that ive been adding to a lot. i know its a big dump of cobble but it think it looks pretty cool from up high

now to put something on it..
There's an October idea, who's made a haunted mansion?

Nah windows and stuff are coming soon, Im just trying to get the basic structure done first
