Minecraft Info's Screensaver project was started around October 2010 and first released on the 20th of October 2010. The screensaver has been remade 2 times, each time bringing improvements. Version 3's main improvement is that it can render more types of Minecraft Blocks and Items.
Feedback and Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
5 Screensaver Modes (6 Including "Random Mode")
Supports Resource Packs
Supports Custom Minecraft Fonts
Supports Custom Backgrounds
The Screensaver needs to be placed in Windows\ or Windows\System32\ folder for it to show up. If you download the version which includes an installer then it will appear in the Add/Remove Programs bit of windows.
Instead of brining back the Animated Mobs mode im currently thinking of implementing just the Player character but which can display player skins, could even make it download a users current skin from minecraft.net . Skins are easy to access. Like Notch's one.
I'm having the same problem as before but because every thing has changed i'm not sure how to fix it now!
The unhandled archive type bug? I forgot about that bug when i remade the filesystem for version 3.Could you try replacing your ssmci3.scr file which is located at %APPDATA%\ssmci3\ with the one Here. You can get to that location by typing it in the Search Box on the Start menu and pressing Enter(With XP you need to goto Start and then Run).
What does your %APPDATA%\.minecraft\resourcepacks\ folder look like? Or more precisely what resource packs are in it?
EDIT: Found what i think is the new bug and This Version should fix that. Though id still like to know what Resource Pack is to blame for the problem in the first place (These fixes just make the screensaver ignore problem resource packs, it doesn't actually solve the problem).
Thats the problem, the screensaver doesn't support folders. So its trying to do file operations (Like getting the size of a file) on a folder... which doesn't work. I have modified the screensaver to ignore folders in the ResourcePacks folder and it can be downloaded from the website (The installer and archive have been updated).
Could you place the files in this rar into your %APPDATA%\ssmci3\ directory. It won't fix the problem but it will hopefully give a more useful error message(The one you see is generally shown when an application doesn't handle the error its self... there should be an error message from the screensaver).
Btw is there any error logs located at %APPDATA%\ssmci3\logs\ ?

Do you have a %APPDATA%\ssmci3\cache\ folder? If so does deleting its contents help? Do you have forge or any other things which create there own profile in the Minecraft Launcher? Did you change the selected resource pack or is it set to the default?
EDIT: Made a small update which should handle this type of error better. You can get it Here. Replace the ssmci3.scr in %APPDATA%\ssmci3\ with the one in the rar.

What window? The screensaver should display some kind of error message if there is a problem when you run it.
