Hello Friends!

My name is Dane and I'm the author of this Minecraft fan fiction. It takes place on a server with 25 players battling to become #1. This server features an MMO plug in that allows leveling up and magic. Teams form among the players on the server, as well as enemies and rivalries. In this story you will be able to watch as the players speak to each other in Global Chat and Local Chat as if you were logged onto the server with them.

Looks interesting! Although, what audience (specifically age group) is it aimed at? It only had 35 pages on Amazon.

I wrote this in hopes of not only capturing the younger audience, but older Minecraft players as well. Typically, Minecraft books are for ages 6-12 but I wanted to write one that would resonate with people my age as well (I'm 23).

In regards to having 35 pages, it's a $0.99 ebook on Amazon. Not only was this just a taste test to see if people enjoyed it, but normally people who are buying ebooks on Amazon aren't looking for a 100+ page book. Just a quick, fun read that you can read in one sitting.

Very good point. At last, I won't have to re-read Mark Cheverton for my Minecraft fan-fics.

Alright, I read 22% of the book, according to Amazon. The dialogue is rather unique, as it's in the form of server chat. No character development yet, but I just started reading. My one complaint is that the story is kinda jumping around a bit, so I'm not 100% sure what's happening. I give it a B, and I expect the book to hit the B+ range, if the first impressions are anything to go by.

Update:The ending was rather ababrupt, I didn't appreciate that. Other than that,this book does it's job, which is to entertain a very specific audience. My personal gripe is the use of the abbreviation IRL.

Overall Rating: B- Had some interesting elements, but an abrupt ending and little character development took a lot away from the book.

I am currently writing the 2nd book and it will be much longer. I just wanted to get the first book out to see if there was an audience. Turns out, everybody loves it thus far! Its been read over 1000 times in the last 10 days. I've been having a blast writing the 2nd book and I will post here when it is released in December.

I have had many requests from people who want their Minecraft name in the books. I will be holding a contest and be adding 25 people from this forum into the 3rd book. Let me know if you might be interested in having your Minecraft character name and skin in the story.

Also, anybody else who has read the book, I would love to hear from you!

Mildly entertaining, but I've been spoiled by LOTR, Narnia, and The Giver Quartet. I'm not exactly the target audience either. Still, I suppose my grand-kids will enjoy it.

*sigh*

I don't care if that book was a "test" or not, if you expect to write for an older age group, don't insult their intelligence by writing 35 pages of cheap "thrills".
