This story is about a young woman who lives in a post apocalyptic world by her self.
Please note that is a minecraft story, but not completely; it takes place in a blend of minecraft and reality, as well as having a life of it's own. When you imagine the characters and places as working in a similar way to minecraft, but looking like something from the real world.
Also note that the grammar isn't going to be perfect, nor will it be particularly well written. I am doing this for fun.
Shadow of the past:
Chapter One: Living in the Ruins:
I woke up this morning to the dark nest of decay around me. It's nothing new to me, as far as I know it's always been this way, abandoned roads, and towns peppered across the, old, misty, roofed forest. I've often wonderd what it was like before the apocalypse. Maybe I'll find out next time I find an intact library, but I'd better get moving. "Breakfast isn't going to cook its self." I told myself, as left the comfort of the least moldy bed in the village. I left the broken down old house, and walked to the small field in front, then harvested what I could. I baked some bread and some beef for breakfast. As usual it was bland and gritty. After I finished eating, I packed up my stuff, and prepared for another long day of wandering, and hunting.
Chapter Two: The Creature:
I left the mossy village, and ventured out into the ancient woods. I walked, until I found a small gurgling stream, that splashed playfully in the morning sun that filtered through the leafs. As I bent down to get a drink and refill my supply, I saw a strange gray thing out of the corner of my eye. I stood up quickly, and saw nothing. Thinking it was my imagination I crouched once more. I drank some water, then refilled my supplies. When I got back up there it was again! This time I could see it clearly, it had long ash gray legs, and stubby hands with three, thick, human like, fingers at the end of long ash gray arms, all attached to a, tall, bony, torso. Topping all this was an ash gray skull like head, with deep purple, intelligent, cat like, eyes. It also emitted a weird purple smoke around its whole body; it didn't seem to notice me as it stood in the shadows of the ancient trees around it. I continued to stare at the tall creature, mesmerized by its mysterious human like shape, suddenly it turned. It stared at me, and its mouth opened up wider than any human's could. It made a weird buzzing noise then disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. I looked around desperately for the creature. There it was again! It was teleporting from place to place. A storm was moving in. I didn't care. I had seen this thing before. I needed to know what it was! So I followed it. It moved faster and faster, as it desperately tried to lose me. We went deeper and deeper into the woods. When we got to a road, I looked desperately around. I couldn't find it. It had lost me. As I started back towards the village, thunder roared in the distance. It started to rain. There was no time to go back. If the monsters found me I'd be doomed. I followed the gravel road, until I found an abandoned city. In front of it was a sign that read: "Welcome to Campestria".
Chapter Three: Campestria:
I ran past the sign. Then I dashed into the sturdiest house I could find. I then closed the doors and bolted them shut, then I turned around to see what kind of building I had entered. To my surprise it was a library! And completely intact to! There were shelves full of books lining the walls, books on the floor, books, books everywhere! And comfy looking armchairs to read them in. Was I dreaming? Could it really be? All the knowledge I could ever want, here? The more I looked around the vast room, the more it seemed more like a temple to knowledge. I yawned and knew that I'd have to wait till the next day to read, so I went to one of the chairs and lay down to sleep. The next morning I sprung out of the chair. And hurried off to get breakfast. To my surprise in the day light I could see farms everywhere. Lush, but still over grown crops of wheat, towered above the animals who wandered the other wise abandoned streets of the once, but still to a degree, great city. I harvested loads of wheat, and baked some bread, and some salted beef. It was bland and gritty, but I didn't care. The next four weeks where probably some of the best of my life! Every day I'd eat, read, and explore; I'd read about daily life in the great city of Campestria, about how to work the forges, even make my own metal blade, but as all good things must it came to an end. I walked around Campestria with the book of city history, reading about the buildings as I met them. A storm was approaching, so I headed back to the library. When I opened the door, I gasped with horror. The library looked like a tornado had gone through it, and all the books were carelessly shoved into a pile at the center of the room. I walked cautiously in, glancing around the room. I was almost to the books, when suddenly a shock wave pushed me back. Lightning struck right where I was standing. Then there was a tall man wearing a ruined turquoise shirt and blue jeans, standing where the lightning had struck. He emitted a spooky glow and his eyes were ghostly white and glowed dimly.
Note to readers after chapter three:
If you concerned about our new "friend" turning the story into a typical "Oh nose Herobrine is here" story, then you have underestimated me. Remember things aren't alwayas what they seem. Also remember that Herobrine isn't real.
Chapter Four: And so it Begins...
We stared at each other for a minute or two. Then he said in a voice that came from everywhere and nowhere, that was deep, powerful, inhuman:
"Hello there little girl."
I was frozen for a second or two, by fear and surprise. Then I pulled out my sword and said firmly:
"Who are you and what do you want?"
"My name is Herobrine, Lord Herobrine, and for your information Alexis Alice Blocksworth. I wish to destroy you."
I tried to speak, but no words came out.
"You are weak mortal. But I'll wait till later to destroy you, I've always enjoyed a nice game of ocelot-and-creeper." Lightning struck once more, and he was gone. The books had burst into flames! I rushed over to put the fire out, when coal black skeletons with no legs and a misty white substance emitting from their empty sockets emerged from the smoke. They floated after me with stone swords in hand. I stood my ground, and fought my first sword fight. The more I knocked down, the more came back, as I desperately tried to get to the books. By the time I'd killed them all, the pile of books was reduced to a large lump of ash. I had lost everything. All the things I could have learned. All the knowledge I could have wanted was gone. To make it even worse, an angry, supernatural, monster, was after me. Just as I was about to walk away, I noticed a book, still enact, lying at my feet. Its cover read:
"Magical Monsters and How to Fight Them"
Chapter Five: Quest Preparations:
I picked up the book, and flipped though its pages, until I found the Herobrine page it read:
"Herobrine is the most powerful monster of them all, he has the powers of teleportation, night vision, profound intelligence, supernatural strength, weak mind control and mind reading. He is also the closest any living creature can get to being immortal. His favorite method of attack is to stalk his victims, while summoning minions to attack his target, once his victim is weary, with fear and weakness he finishes his victim of by killing him in a slow painful way. He has only one known weakness: a mysterious object known as The Stone of Darkness, in which he can be trapped within."
On the next page there was a map, skillfully and precisely drawn, it showed the way to where The Stone of Darkness was kept. I knew at once this was what I needed to do. I also knew that I'd need some armor to protect me from his minions. Luckily among the few books that had survived was a book on black smithing. I couldn't forge a whole set from the left over scraps and ingots in the black smith's shop. I'd need to venture underground to find what I'd need. I forged an iron pickaxe and walked into the mouth of a near by cave. I mined for days always going deeper and deeper into the chasm. In there I found many treasures, not just iron or coal, but redstone, gold, lapis, and one shiny stone I recognized as diamond. When I returned to the surface I forged a full set of though iron armor, and improved my sword by replacing its cutting edge with diamond. I prepared bread as well as dried fruit and meat for the long journey ahead. Before I left Campestria I took maps of near by areas from the walls of the library, then finally set out on my long journey for survival.
Chapter Six: Hunted:
I walked out of the city after saying goodbye for the last time, for it had become a bit of a friend to me if you could call it that, and all that I was certain of was that he wasn't going to make my journey easy. I had scarcely been walking for half an hour along the gravel path, when Herobrine appeared in front of me, showing his ugly face, complete with an equity ugly, evil natured, perfect, white, grin. I stood there a moment, then taking out my sword, I charged at him. When I got to where he was standing, he vanished in a puff of black smoke. I looked and looked, but I couldn't find him, then some zombies appeared in other puffs of black smoke. I fought back and killed them all. The rest of the trip was just like this: walk, grin, poof, zombies, repeat. During this seemingly never ending cycle, I had to watch my back every second of every day. It only got worse, every day slowly, but surly there where more and more attacks. His grin, his terrible awful grin, haunted me, and never let me go, he never ceased stalk and terrorize me. I never let myself look scared, for that would only make his grin wider.
I suppose this is what going mad feels like. Danger at every corner, monsters stalking me day and night, and that grin, that terrible, awful, horrible grin. I was so sleep deprived by the second week, that I took any opportunity I got to just close my eyes for one second. Despite all the danger, I'd made excellent progress, I was almost there: "Hang in there a little bit longer, just a little bit longer." I said to my self, as I prepared for another sleepless night, on the 27st day of the long torturous journey.
