this thread is for asking me anything about the mechanics of minecraft, and I'll give you my theory as to how it works if he game were to be real-ish or not a game. Questions like: how does respawning work? What is the Wither status effect? How does creative work?
Creative Mode is sort of a "God Mode" most people can unlock if they just know the right way to. It's based off of mana, the same thing used to enchant and "level up". Creative Mode specifically allows users to generate a portal (or as I called it during school: a Mana-festation) from which they can withdraw unlimited amounts of most materials. Portal colors can vary depending on the person.
The Wither status effect, or "withering" is the process provided by the Nether God(discussed in the Lore thread), The Wither. It involves rapid decomposition from the inside out, practically liquifying the effectee's organs and dissolving them into a pile of sand which is stained with their soul(Soul Sand).
Indeed it is. As we discussed in the Lore Q&A: "The Wither is an ancient deity, once believed to be known as The Purifier. It reigned in the Nether as one of the three Gods of Minecraftia. It was said to have purged the world of sin. Now, an underground cult worships the Wither, having found the texts that describe its all-mighty power." It's the Punisher and Purifier.
Well, the Wither didn't wipe out the Nether civilization all at once. It did so, slowly, over time. And because it was a more primitive civilization, and a Gods-worshiping one, they didn't even dare to try to kill the Wither. It was one of their Gods. And it was serving its purpose.
How are we able to see in complete darkness in the nether?
(More definitively, how , even when completely blocked from sources of light, are we able to see in the dark, at the darkest brightness setting and no night vision?)
Beds setting your spawn plays into my theory for how respawning works. In the event that you are "killed", your character becomes too weak to carry on adventuring, and must struggle to get back to a safe home. Then, they must rest in their bed until they have recovered enough to continue adventuring. It's far more convenient if you are with a group, as they can help you back to your bed.

In the Nether, the world is lit by lava, fire, and glowstone. The netherrack is slightly permeable, letting some light through even if you aren't directly next to a light source.
As for seeing in the dark, it's like when you're laying in bed. You can kinda make out shapes, but you can't see much definitively. That's why it's always nice to carry some torches or other light source with you.

Hm.. In that case it wouldn't make sense if the player was completely surrounded by non-netherack blocks, like obsidian or smoothstone, in which case the player will still be able to see in complete darkness.
You might want to expand on your theory.
Also, A question for a more civilized time: Why do mobs and players turn Red on getting hurt? Also, why does an enchanted weapon make the entity on the receiving end relieve itself of particles?

Don't know if I'm allowed to do this but eh. I would say that the red is actually the shimmering of an energy shield around the player generated by the tech inside of them (the same that gives them their "powers" in my lore). Also, I wasn't aware that particles came off of an entity when they were struck with enchanted weapons.

Ah, i see. And yes, particles come off entities when you strike them with enchanted weapons ( as long as particles are maximized in the settings) , and also when they recieve critical damage.(albeit a DiFfErEnT™ one)
I wasn`t satisfied with Mr. Occult Lore Man`s answer to this, so how do achievements work?
Don't know if i'm allowed to this, but, eh... . The Precursors (from OverlordXCano's "Lore Q&A") , on realization of the soon-to-come demise of their civilization, decided to write an enchanted tablet , for any surviving civilizations to be guided from. It activated a set of survival guides, in the guise of tasks/missions, to all those who acquire the tablet, which apparently also allowing the user to craft stuff "magically", and monitor their health and hunger ( Crafting Area and GUI,respectively ) .Whenever a task from the tablet is completed, it activates another set of rules, which eventually reaches the task of defeating the very force the precursors believed to lead to their demise. Although Believed to be rules "set in stone", there have been reports of new tasks appearing in set periods of time (known as Updates), believed to made by the yet existing souls of the Allincars/Precursors

//forgive me if I'm a little shaky on this one. I haven't tried out spectator mode yet.
Spectator Mode is another God-like state a user can enter if they know how. Although it's not a powerful as the more popular Creative Mode, as you can't really DO anything, it does come with the added bonus of being able to pass through blocks and walls.

Maybe you can try thinking of spectator mode as a kind of OBE. That makes sense as the player's soul can travel through blocks but not actually do anything. As for being able to teleport to any player, souls can simply use Ender energy to connect themselves to any other source of ender energy, i.e. mobs.

On a lighter note, how do beds set your spawn?
