Chapter 1: Shipwreck
My name is Miles. It started one day as I was on a ship in the pacific on my way home from a trip to japan. It was about 11 o'clock at night when suddenly i heard a loud crashing sound that woke me up, i got out of bed, suprised. What happend I thought, then I went up to the main deck where i saw that we had crashed into a large rock and where sinking. I started to panick as i realised that everyone was gone; they had all left on the lifeboats and there where none left. How could they leave without me? I thought. But now wasn't the time for that, the boat was sinking more and more each second. I have to get to higher ground I thought. I started climbing the ladder to get to the top of the ship. I was exausted, the ship was so tall and I had just got up. After a while of climbing, I finally reached the top. I could hardley see, it was the middle of the night so it was very dark. The water was rising more and more. Eventually the water was up to my waist, it was so cold I knew I would get hypothermia if I survived this. Thats when I blacked out.
I woke up on a beach, i gasped as i woke up feeling the cool morning air. I got up and remembered what had happened the previous night. Tired, I got up, not knowing where I was. The place I was in was amzing. The landscape wasn't alters in any way. In front of me about a quarter-mile off I saw mountains, behind me was a lake about the size of a football field. The place I was in was strange, stranger once i realised we where in the middle of the pacific with no islands or shore anywhere whithin at least 100 miles, so i had no idea where i was.
I got near the mountains when i saw that this land was swarming with life; cows, pigs, sheep and tons more. I climbed the mountains (wich where more like large hills up close) and saw a huge vally on the inside of the hills. The vally had caves, trees, and even a small lake. I thought that this would be an amazing place to live, not that i would, i was just gonna stay untill help arrived. I decided to go explore the vally. As i reached the bottom i realised the sun was about to go down. I didnt think much of it, so I went back up the mountain realizing i couldn't get seen by a rescue team in the vally. With loose branches and some tall grass i was able to make a shelter for the night, and fell asleep on the cold dark floor.
Chapter 2: Monsters in the night
I woke up to a loud Banging sound, it sounded angry, as if someone or somthing was trying to get in. I ignored it and fell back asleep. A couple of minutes later i heard it again and got up. Annoyed i checked my door and nearly fell over at what i saw. It was a zombie. An actual real-life zombie, like from the movies. All i could think of was "Coooooooooool" Then I realized it was almost in. I was starting to panick untill I remembered that i had seen a couple of zombie movies. I knew i had to get him in the head. There was only one, so i knew i could take it. I grabbed a leftover branch from my shelter and opened the door. The zombie attacked me and got me in the face. I was injured pretty badly. But then i wacked at the zombie as I felt blood drip down my face. I closed the door, and passed out.
I woke up in the morning, remembering what had happened the night before and got up quickly. I felt the pain in my face as I ran into the vally to get to the water. I looked at my reflection in the water and saw that i had gotten a big cut from the top of my nose to my upper cheek. I was loosing blood fast, and knew i had to find somthing to stop the bleeding. I found some more tall grass and wrapped my face in it. The pain was excruciating. I knew i needed better protection; who knew what else was in this strange place.
Chapter 3: A place to call home
I went up the hill and grapped the extra wood i didnt need and sharpened one with a rock i found. It was very badly made but i knew it would be good enough for now. I knew i had to make a better shelter. I thought if i went into that cave i saw eariler... and then without warning, a green creature with four small legs and a tall body attacked me. I hit it with my branch but it didnt do much. I swung at it again this time aiming for its head, and it died. I looked through the body and found, gunpowder. I knew this would be helpful later on. I knew that if this thing was somhow lit from the inside, it would explode.
I knew i needed better tools and a better shelter. I got some sticks and branches from the trees and made myself a picaxe. It was very badly made but it would do. I went to the cave. Hoping my picaxe would work. I hit the wall of the cave. Nothing happened. I hit it again, harder this time and saw a small crack in it. I kept hitting it, harder and harder every time untill it broke. I collected a few more and went back up to my shelter. I tried making a better picaxe with it but i had nowhere to work, so i made a workbench with some more wood. It was hard to make the worbench with just branches so once I made it I made two things; a picaxe and an axe. I used the axe to chop down some trees and then i used the upgraded picaxe to go get more stone. Eventually, after a while of exploring the cave i found a black material embeded in the stone. I used my picaxe to get it out, and knew it was coal.
Eventually at the end of the day, I had a better shelter with a door I made with some wood. I used the coal to make torches that i put on the walls in every corner, and a bed i made with some wood and some wool I got from sheep. It was the perfect home.
Chapter 4: A friend
The next morning I got out of bed and felt my hard wooden floor as I got up. I felt the scar on my face that I had gotten fom my first encounter with a zombie, I had forgotten about it because I had been so busy. I ate some pork I got from a pig earlier. It was cold and stale. I thought abot making some kind of oven to cook it in. After a while of planning how to make it, i eventually made and oven with some stone. I hallowed out a piece of stone with my picaxe and made a top part and a bottom part. On the bottom, I could put somthing to heat it up, and on the top i could put the thing i wanted to cook. I thought coal would be the perfect fuel but i was all out. I decided i would go mining again.
I went into the cave i had gone in the first time and started mining. As usual the stone broke, starting with small cracks frome the center and working its way out. I wnt through the mine, finding more and more coal, when suddenly, I found somthing new. It looked like the coal exept it was more of a silver than the usual black. I trien mining it, but it took slightly longer than the coal did. Eventually it broke and i got the ore. I knew to get the metal inside, I would need to melt it in my oven. I went back to my home and put it in the oven and the result was a smooth bar. I knew it was iron. " I can use this to make better tools!" I thought. I made a new sword to replace the stone one, and went and sat outside on the hill.
As I sat on the edge of the hill, I looked at the spot where I first came to this strange place and thought about how I could have ended up here. As the minutes went by, I heard a hissing noise behind me. I was thinking so hard that I had lost track of time! Another green creature stood behind me, it scared the crap out of me. I got up, I didn't have enough time to draw my sword, and just when i thought it was over, a wolf came out from behind a tree and bravely faught the creature. After it died it left behind the gunpowder as usual. I petted the wolf I knew he liked me so I decided to keep him. I named him jake. I could tell jake hadn't eaten in a while; he was very skinny, so I fed him a porkchop I got from a pig. He seemed to enjoy it alot and I pet him and sat down on my bed, eventually drifting off into sleep.
Chapter 5: A long journey
I woke up with Jake on my bed. I got out of bed and slowly made me and jake some breakfast. We had porkchops since I couldn't find any other food. I wished I could have found somthing else to eat like some kind of berry or fruit of any kind. I knew I would have to explore this world more. Not for just to find somthing else to eat, but since I knew I porobably would never leave this place, I would at least try to find some sort of civilization.
I prepared everything I would need for my long journy and left. I left my shelter and everything there and left anything I wouldn't need. I also made a backpack with some leather I found to hold all of my stuff. I was nervous; I hadn't left my shack and vally ever since I came to this place, and I had no idea what else was in this strange world. I mean zombies? green creatures that blow up? What else could there be? I knew Jake would help me but he couldnt forever, he was already pretty old. I didn't even want to think about that though. I couldn't even imagine being all alone again.
Me and Jake traveled for a long time, so long that I didn't even know how long, days, weeks, months, I didn't know. In all that time we found no one, the only this we found one time was ruins; there was once a city so I knew there where poeple in this world. I had to keep looking. I kept a journal everyday of the things that happened.
The first year passed, it was winter. Me and Jake where so cold but I was able to make us some cloths with leather. I had learned so much about this world but no one to share it with. I think I started to go a little insane with lonelyness. Sure I had Jake but that wasn't enough. If he where to ever... I didn't ever want to think about that. We traveled on only resting once every day. Another month passed and I started to lose hope in ever finding anyone. One day a week later, I found somthing that made my heart sink. Ruins, and the worst part was that there where skeletons, human skeletons. I was happy to know that there where other humans in this world but I was sad to know they might be all dead. The ruins where on a platform in the sky, to get to them you had to climb a staircase to get to it. In the center of the city there where giant iron towers, and surroundin gthe city where walls lined with a black material. It wasen't coal, it was way to strong. I knew this material, it was obsidian. I found out there where two walls, the first wall and then a moat and a second wall after that. Parts of the wall looked like it had been blown up. I knew there must have been some kind of war here. I explored the city, salvaging any materials I could and putting them in my pac. I came across an amulet, there was a shining diamond encased in some gold. It gave off a faint blue light. I decided to leave it in case it was cursed or somthing.
Chapter 6: The Shadow
As I started to continue on my long journey I felt like somthing was watching me, I figured that the dark cloudy sky was starting to creep me out so I ignored it. An hour passed and the feeling didn't go away. I knew there was somthing there, somthing evil. Jake started to growl. I grabbed my sword from the sheath at my waist and prepaired for somthing to come and attack me. Nothing came. I sheathed my sword and me and Jake continued on. Still, I knew there was somthing lurking in the shadows.
We continued on. I kept franticly looking behind me, I still had that feeling that someone, or somthing, was watching me. Later that night me and Jake where sitting beside a fire I made. I roasted some pork for me and Jake. He grabbed it and tore it apart. Jake seemed worn out by all the travelling so I went to a nearby pond and got him some water in a small wooden bowl I made. On my way back to the fire I saw in the woods a black figure standing there. He was tall and completley black, I saw his purple eyes glow in the darkness, and in an instant, he vanished in a cloud of purple smoke. I started to panick. I rushed back to the fire, I knew that was the thing following me. When I got back to the fire, I saw a sight that would scar me for life. Jake layed next to the fire, wounded badly in the chest, he was bleeding a lot. I ran over to him, crying. He was welping from the pain. I held him as he died from blood loss. I sobbed. He was the only friend I had made in this place, he saved my life multiple times, and he was dead. I was sobbing as I buried him. I chisled into a large rock above his grave:
Here lies Jake
R.I.P
That thing that killed my best friend was gonna pay. Pay with his life.
Chapter 7:The hunt for the shadow
The next morning I was woken by the rain, still in tears from what happend the previous night. I didn't get very much sleep the night before, I was fearing to much for the shadow (as I would come to call it). I was now completley alone. I knew I needed to find civilization more than ever. But for now, I needed rest and better defences. I made a shelter out of some branches, reminding me of my first day in this world. I also went mining and found some iron. I remembered the diamonds i found in the city from the previous day. I made a sword out of diamond, it seemed to have a faint blue glow like the amulet I found in the ruins, I knew it would be stronger than any weapon I had ever made. With the iron and some leather strips, I made some armor. I made a chestplate by melting the shapes of a back and a front, then binding them together with the leather. I did the same with some leggings. I also made some boots and a helmet. I knew it was not the best defences, but it would do.
I was gonna find, and kill the shadow. The thing that killed my best friend. I looked in every shadow, I knew it hid there, I also had my sword drawn at all times, just in case. I searched all day, it was still raining, it was cold and wet. I even started to see lightning, it got really windy and I thought I would set up camp for the night. I found a small cave. I made a small hole in the roof of the cave to let the smoke escape from the fire I made. I layed down on the cold cave floor. I didn't sleep, I just thought. I thought about Jake dying and how I even came to this world in the first place. I had been keeping track of the days by writing in my journal daily. I remembered that tomorow was my 21st birthday. I would spend it finding the evil creature that ruined my life. But I didn't think about that, and drifted off into sleep.
The next morning I woke up with a burning hatred of the shadow, I didn't care about finding civilization anymore. It was my birthday and all I wanted, was to kill that stuipid thing. I ate breakfast and set out into the cold rainy outdoors.
I searched for hours. But eventually I found somthing. In the forest I saw the purple gaze from the cerature in the darkness. Taking the opertunity, I charged at it, as fast as I could. I leaped at it. But just before I hit it, it vanished, leaving behind the familiar purple smoke. It was behind me and it hit my back and I fell to the ground in pain. I managed to get back up and fight. I slashed at it again and it teleported again, knowing what would happen, I stuck my sword out behind me and it teleported there. I stabbed it in the chest but it didn't seem to do much. Slashing like a maniack, I despratly tried to hit it. It once again teleported behind me and knocked me down, dropping my sword a couple feet away. It opened its mouth widley and started shaking, making a weird sound I still can't describe. I reached for my sword but it was too far away, and the creature was up close to me. I somehow got my sword and stabbed it between the eyes. It fell to the ground, dead. I did it, I was so happy to finally kill the creature that killed my best friend. I searched the body and found some kind of greenish orb. I could tell this must be the source of the creatures ability to teleport. I kept it. I got my birthday wish. I remembered the cut on my back and passed out.
Chapter 8: A journys end
I had faint memories of what happened after that. I saw some kind of figure helping me, but I couldn't tell what it was. Thats all I remembered.
I woke up in a room. It was small and made of wood. I got up, checking the cut on my back, I then realised that it had been bandaged. I looked around. I had no idea where I was. I got out of bed and walked around. This place looks man-made. I thought to myself, I started to get my hopes up. I was still exausted from the night before. I got back in bed and fell asleep. When I woke up, there was someone there. It was a human. I was so happy to find out I didn't waste a year. "Hi" the stranger said "You where injured pretty badly. what happend?" I thought about if I should tell him what happened, I didn't know him so it might be a bad idea. "My name is Luke by the way" He said. "My name is Miles" I said. Then I told him what happened, the whole story, The shipwreck, Jake, the long year of travelling, the shadow. After I was done he seemed suprised that I was still alive. He told me that he was a pilot who crashed his plane and woke up here only a couple weeks ago. He told me that he now lived in a town with other people on the plain. I was relieved to find out there where other people here. I asked him if I could stay in the town. "You've been travelling for a year trying to find a place you could stay." He said "Of course you can" I thanked him and left the shack. Outside the shack was the town. The town was kind of medevil style, it had a blacksmith, bakery, library and a bunch of other stuff. There where also a bunch of houses and roughly one hundred people.
Chapter 9: A Home
I figured i'd need a place to stay for a while. After a couple days of planning, I was gonna start building a house. Luke said he'd help, so all I needed where the materials. I spend a day chopping down trees, while Luke helped by making some glass and other stuff i'd need. The next day we'd start on the house. I made sure to get a lot of rest, because the next day I would be working alot.
I got up the next morning well rested, I prepared for the long day of working. I ate some bacon, cuz bacon is freaking awesome, and head off to the site I had prepared. I started building. The house was mostly gonna be logs, so there wasn't much cutting involved. Luke helped a lot with everything, in fact he built most of the house. After a while we decided to take a lunch break. I ate a pork sammich and some water. After that I got back to work.
It took a couple of days, but we finally finished. I loved my house. It was huge, in fact if I didn't love privacy so much, at least ten other people could have lived there, But I prefered to live alone. If anyone touched my house I WOULD KILL THEM!!! That night I layed in bed feeling like a warm blanket burrito. It had been so long since I had slept in areal bed, and not rocks. I hate rocks. I was super glad that I felt safe in a real house and not in a dark cave in the middle of nowhere.
Chapter10: The Woods
I woke up the next morning to a burning smell. Tired, I said "mom the bacons burning." Then I realized what tge crap was actually going on; someone set my house on fire. My first thought was "OK SOMEONS GONNA DIE" then I ran for my life. Fire was spreading throughout the house, I tried escaping through my window but I was on the second floor so if I jumped I would probably end up a very delicious human pancake. I went for the door, it was mostly burning but I could get through. I slid through the gap in the door, I ended up getting burnt on my leg. I saw the fire slowley reach my stash of gunpowder. I ran as fast as I could, but it exploded anyways. I barely made it out alive. I ended up surviving, but my house didn't.
It was then that I realized that it wasn't just my house that burnt down, it was the whole town. I quickly ran to try to help anyone that might still be alive. I first saw luke, he was trapped under a log from his burnt down house. I tried lifting it off, but it was way too heavy. It was burning fast and Luke was dying. His last words where "Don't look into its eyes" I had no idea what it meant but I didn't care. It was like anyone I got close to would die. I searched the town for more survivors but there where none. I was alone yet again. I left the town. I knew I could never make a friend again for the fear of losing them. I left to the forest where I could stay for a while.
I spent the day in the woods, trying to figure out who would kill an entire village. I couldn't figure it out, there wasn't anyone who hated me, not that I knew of, and no monsters could have done it, they didn't have anything to use. I started to get frustrated and gave up. I just needed to make a shelter for the night and go to sleep, I had a hard day.
After I made the shelter I ate some pork and went to sleep. Although I couldn't sleep, I couldn't stop thinking about stuff, like how i even got here in the first place, about who burnt the village and everything about that. I thought that this might all be just a bad dream. But I knew it wasn't. All I needed was sleep at the time. I cleared my mind and drifted off into sleep.
In the middle of the night I heard a strange sound. I knew that sound from somewhere. I went outside and heard the noise louder. I saw a figure in the night. It disappeared with a puff of purple smoke.

It was the shadow.
The end(?)
