Alright while I do understand minecraft has no actual lore or history within game. Its really all speculation but I must say mojang left alot of cool stuff like strongholds, abandoned mineshafts and so much more. I really think this stimulates the imagination. So I decided to create a sort of history, lore or mythology if you will of minecrafts history. I know this has been done before but often times in very uncreative manners or just copying earths history as a planet and calling it minecrafts history or mythology just blockier. So here is my go at it.
Minecraftia as far as recorded history date back was inhabiteted by three races. The pigmen, villagers and humans. The races were nomadic. They lived side by side and later in history eventually estabilished the first villages. Through the years these villages grew more and sophisticated and so did the races. New advances were made as time progressed. Such as more sophisticated weapons, written language, farms and etc.
They began to create larger villages. They started building strongholds, mineshafts and dungeons. Soon citys were shaping towards kingdomes. Then from a silver age, arrived a golden age. The first kingdomes were estabilished and the races began to seperate. The villagers did not wish to live in kingdomes. Thus the majority lived in villages and had very traditional jobs like farming, metal work, fishing and etc.
The pigmen and a few humans lived in the now aging strongholds and mineshafts. The majority of humans lived in kingdomes and these kingdomes were ruled by certian familys. These familys were called houses. In time the races eventually were seperated from each other and distant. The pigmen grew hostile as they lacked food and other neccesitys in the strongholds and were begining to starve. Thus they began sacking villagers villages.
They stole food and water. They managed to burn down large villages and destroy the walls that protect them. Thus ceating famine and disease for the villagers. Soon the pigmen decide to exterimnate all of the villagers and take over their villages. The humans decided to take action and so sparked a war between pigmen and humans. The pigmen lost due to the fact famine and disease was taking a major role in the war effort.
While they had mines for which they could extract rouceres to build weapons and armor and strongholds they could not feed their soldiers or general populations. Soon a peace treaty was signed but only 70,000 pigmen still were alive. In the years to come villager numbers dropped to 50,000 and pigmen numbers dropped to 40,000. The humans on the other hand while there was an evident drop in population still prospered. Then came the dark ages.
It began with storms unlike any before. Lightning unlike any other. Often times they were described to "teleport" people within these storms. The storms burned crucial farmland and villages. Then came the parasites. These worm like parasites were compatible with humans, pigmen and villagers. The parasites would attack themselves to the host necks and mutate them.
Turning them into zombies. But not your run of the mill zombies. They were smarter, stronger and faster. They could use simple weapons like swords and spears. These ravaged everywhere. Mass chaos. Often times citys were burned to the groudn due to the fact they were crawling with these zombies. Humans faced utter chaos. Half of the population turned into zombies. The majority of the other half died in the chaos and famine that followed afterward. The zombies destroyed villager and pigmen populatiosn to 4000 each. Humans to only a 100,000.
But that wasnt the last of it. Monsters began apearing everywhere. Creepers, spiders, skeletons and worse. The survivors took refuge in old and abandoned strongholds. They were safe from the creatures but not safe from famine, disease and worse. Extinction was upon all of the races. Ender men invaded from the end and from the nether came zombies, skeletons, withers, creepers, spiders and worse. Soon all traces of civilization were gone.
The survivors managed to create a portal to the end and kill the ender dragon. The ender mens queen and forcing them to retreat. Only a few reamined in minecraftia. But other creatures still roamed the surface. They had a master and his name was herobrine. More like its name was herobrine. Only 10,000 humans remained, a few hundred villagers and a few hundred eneder men. Minecraftia was in ruin and the surface was hostile. So in desperation 5,000 people, a hundred or so villagers and all pigmen attempted to survive in the nether. But it was futile. They managed to build fortresses but they were reliant on water and after some time the water ran out. Their portals were destroyed and they all died. The pigmen were transformed into mindless zombies.
Now (in present) villagers have rebuilt their villages but they are small. People rise formt he strongholds and they see the sunshine for the first time in hundreds of years.
I can see a very big flaw with this lore, it's that Steve is the only human left in Minecraftia. Which you didn't really explain.
I like the take you took on the pigmen. Them living together with the other races until they grew hungry in their strongholes and decided to rebel agaisnt the villagers is a cool idea and answers a lot of questions.
The fact that zombies are around also had a nice explanation.
So overall, it's some very nice lore!
EDIT: This will probably get moved to the Litterature section.
Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to go in depth about the end and the nether and a lot of other stuff if you like. Yeah also when I was righting this I was thinking about not including steve as the last human on minecrafta as I was thinking about the multiplayer aspects of minecraft. I just thought that steve really wasn't the only person still alive taking the fact that minecraft also has a multiplayer.
I honestly wanted to stray away from any clichés seen in other lores or mythos. I could go further into depth if one likes.
I also wanted to point out in my lore that steve is possessed by herobrine. As in my mind herobrine reminds me abit about supernatural and the fact that it looks somewhat like demonic possession. Herobrine in his natural form doesn't have any physical form. The majority of the monsters seen in the over world except the ender men draw their origin from the nether. While zombies were infected by worm like parasites and skeletons are ancient zombies the parasites originate from the nether.
The storms I mentioned were portal storms. They were portals from other dimensions' in this case the end and the nether opening up. The end is a dimension that is collapsing and in its end. Hence the title the end. The end is home to lovecraftian like monster and other supernatural beings such as the ender men. Only the ender men remain as all the others have died as the end collapsed. The end also doesn't follow traditional laws of gravity aswell.
Herobrine and the Ender dragon have clashed before. These portal storms happen every 100,000 years. They never actually fought each other during the dark ages as humans killed one of the ender dragons and made sure herobrine never came to the overworld. The nether is herobrines cage per say. He can be summoned to the over world but he needs to posses someone or hes forced back to the nether. They are both called the destroyers of worlds as if both clashed they would destroy all life on minecraftia.
