Steve used all of his muscles to try and break the binds that held him down onto this strange and cold metal chair that he seemed to be trapped in. With enough force, he felt the binds start to loosen, but just as quickly as they would loosen they would instantly tighten again. What was this that he was tied to? Why did he feel a strange sensation of fear and panic as he thought about this chair? He just couldn't work it out and ceased to struggle as he felt a large burning sensation overcome him. This burning sensation overtook his body, it felt as if he was on fire right now and burning to his death in a foreign metallic chair of strange origin. At this point, pain overtook his strength and he found himself unable to do anything but scream...
... and just as he did, he felt himself return to his senses. It was nighttime, Steve noticed as he stepped out of his bed and onto his soft wool rug. He looked outside of his house through the glass panes to try and see if he could make out what exactly just happened. Was it a dream? That seems to be the only logical explanation... He didn't actually hurt right now, but at the same time it was strange. He used to never wake up in the middle of the night to strange dreams. He just woke up in the morning, when his body told him to get up to avoid the demons of the dark. He winced as he felt a strange pain in his side, almost a slight stabbing pain. He rummaged in his pockets and sighed as he pulled out an iron sword. It seems he had forgotten to remove most of the objects from his on-hand inventory, and had to pay the price for it. Luckily, he wasn't too seriously injured. He went over to his rather old wooden chest and opened it as he took out a full hand-crafted set of armor, some torches, and an iron pickaxe as he decided tonight was as good as any of a night to go mining.
After equipping his armor, he cautiously stepped out of his wooden sanctuary and peered around. There appeared to be no mobs immediately outside... He should probably do good enough to make a beeline for his mineshaft a few yards away. Steve inhaled deeply and sprinted towards the mineshaft blindly, stopping only a few feet before a wall. He stopped to catch his breath as he leaned against the stone wall and looked at a sign opposite him. The sign read "Entrance". Despite having not found any humane (and intelligent) civilization, he still preferred to label the most pointless of things such as his house and the mineshaft. Organization was key, he supposed. Having caught his breath, he took his pickaxe in one hand and a torch in the other as he went down to the mine, determined to finally make this the day he acquired diamonds.
....Diamonds. How did he even know about their prescence? He hadn't even heard of them to begin with, but as soon as he found himself awake he knew exactly what to do; he already had a goal set in mind. Why was this? He knew that diamonds were the most important thing to him right now, but he didn't know why. Perhaps he might find out in one of these rather vivid dreams of his...
This is one of the best stories I've recently read on these forums. It's nice to have a break from the usual stuff you find here. The only issue I see is in the third paragraph. "...He should probably do good enough to make a beeline for his mineshaft a few yards away. I understand what this is supposed to say, but the grammar is a little funky. Other than that, nice story, I look forward to chapter two.

That's the end of Chapter 1. Constructive criticism welcomed.
Other than that, nice story, I look forward to chapter two.
