Evening everyone. I've been away for about three years, and recently reread my first Fan Story//www.minecraftforum.net/topic/137723-story-not-just-another-minecraft-story-day-2-part-2/%27">Not" target="" data-ensure-absolute>http://www.minecraft...art-2/']Not Just Another Minecraft Story . Let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed writing the story. At the time that I stopped updating it, wolves were just about to be introduced, something that I had been anticipating with the introduction of a new antagonist for Hero. Since that time, I've gotten married, and we have recently welcomed our first child into the world. I need a new character to drive that represents my growth in the last 3 years.
Both unfortunetly and amazingly, Minecraft has grown A TON, both in fans and gameplay. Because of this, I feel my old story would be playing a huge game of catch-up if I tried to finish it as originally planned, and am thus giving it a, well, reboot. A good portion of my characters will be washed away, but a new crew will replace them, many of whom will be born from the coding of my WIP mod, Crafter's Mark. As much as the old story sought to get dirty with the workings of Minecrafts gameplay and at the time somewhat rough history, this story will seek to prepare the reader for a new way of seeing the games world.
At the same time I've always held that certain things, both facts and fictions, are an integral part of Minecraft. As such, new rules require that I state the following involving one character who helps close out NJAMS to make way for the new set: Herobrine.
Herobrine is a character that allows the mundane scares of Zombies and Creepers to be trounced by the madness of something that cannot actually be experienced. Herobrine is a thought, the embodiment of fear, a thing that holds no place in the minds of the great adventurers and crafters of Minecraft. Though he does not truly exist, his being, the idea that something both new and frightening can lurk behind every wall of stone, must be embodied in even the most factual of tales. Thus, I give warning that my tale will contain Herobrine, but reassurance that this fearful being can not haunt you're adventure.
Without further discussion of the past, I present CRAFTER'S MARK
Prologue
Lying on the cold, coarse sand, only one thought crossed my mind.
Dying sucks.
Rolling my beaten body over made him laugh. My head swam as the waves of orange and black light washed their heat over me. Even silhouetted as he was, the fiends remaining good eye shone with dull, grey intensity. I knew the rest of the face by heart, even what was missing. The scars that both of us shared by now...
"You really can't give up," his hoarse voice instantly brought pain to my body. He'd become so powerful in such a short time. He tightened his grip on the foul Rift Blade, the screaming voices of everyone I'd failed seeping out in waves, making his way closer to me.
"I will rip you apart, Hero. This world will be mine," he takes a sharp breath, his pain just as great as mine. "I've turned the sky into a void, snuffing out the Crafter's across the realms. You've always been the... hardest... to deal with."
"This is over!" My breathing is shallow, sharp intakes only giving enough room to edge out this fate a little longer. I reach for the one thing I have left of my life.
Irony, I think, that I finally realize your use so close to where I began.
The wooden top lets out a warmth as I grasp it in my hand. The moon has just risen to visibility over the smoke of the world.
"You can't have this world, Herobrine. I promised her that I would keep you from taking it," I change my gaze to the white of the moon, as pure as my old friend. As the fiend raises the cursed blade, my final prayer echoes across the beach.
"I'm sorry, Rana!"
Calling on the last of my strength, the power of the Crafter's, I crush the top in my hand. Tears roll down my bloodied face as a watch the moon crack and burst into a thousand pieces. He turns to view my final act, as both of us are wrenched from the world that never fell.
Interesting return, although I'm a bit uncertain of the details of what happened? You have something in store for that?
Honestly, not really. New story is connected, but what happened (in my head anyway) is that Rana's had put her energy into the top to chill with Hero the entire story, and then given him the idea of crushing it to break the moon (her). This caused a freeze on the world, tearing both Hero and Herobrine (last living entities) out of the world.
Basically, that world has been sent where "corrupted" save files go.
P.S., Don't expect persistent updating this time. That was a terrible idea last go, and I'm not gonna burn myself, or my story out that way.
