Ah, the classic story of Steve going off on the legendary story to fight the great Ender Dragon. Well, that's not what you're reading! When reading this story, you'll find that that's old news. By that, I mean the Ender Dragon's DEAD! Ok, so on to reading!
Today was a common celebration in the End. It was the celebration of the defeat of the Ender Dragon. The Endermen were free to live a life of peace instead of constantly picking up blocks for no reason. However, there was one with a plot to restore the End to its former glory. His name was Kaido.
Kaido had the greatest power of all Endermen. He held a magic staff which could do almost anything. Its magic was beyond comprehension and so Kaido was ordered to destroy it. Kaido used the staff to make a worthless duplicate, which was shattered. Kaido hid in the caves under the End, preparing to find the Dragon Egg. He who had the Dragon Egg would be rightful ruler of the End.
However, there was the constant pain in the neck known as destiny. There was always some sort of great hero getting in the way of world conquest. At least when Steve fought the Ender Dragon, both of them died. When Kaido found his staff, he was warned by an ancient spirit—who was not visible—of its power and that he who wields it is doomed to be destroyed by the Wither.
Kaido tried not to be worried. The Wither was dead. However, after examining ancient runes he found in a Nether Fortress, he discovered the tale of the Wither. He learned that one day, a new Wither would arise in the form of a human.
Though the spirit who had warned him didn't mention anything about a human Wither, Kaido was still careful about this fact. Now, on this day, the spirit from before talked to him. But this time, his formed had been manifested into... Steve.
"KAIDO!" Steve yelled, "I warned you of the staff! Tomorrow, the new Wither comes of age. If you do not destroy that staff, then you will be destroyed in turn. You don't have long. I cannot stop you myself, but I am beginning my journey back to life as we speak. I will be assisting the new Wither in battle against you. I'm sorry, but it is the only way to stop anyone from using the staff again."
"You don't scare me, Steve," Kaido said, "I have this!"
Kaido took out his staff and blasted a beam at Steve's ghost. It just went right through him.
"The clock is ticking, Kaido," Steve said, "Tomorrow, the new Wither shall learn of his destiny. Such has been told long before your day."
"I'm not destroying this!" Kaido said, "With it, I can restore the End to what it was and wipe out some puny Wither! I'm not even worried about you!"
"Then accept your fate," Steve said.
With that, he vanished.
Chapter One: Destiny
"Now, jump and two quick blasts to drop the sand!" a man said. A boy, about 14 jumped over a 1-block hill and shot, unbelievably, two blasts similar to that of the Wither. Up above the man were two dirt blocks, holding up sand. The wither blasts destroyed the dirt, crashing the sand down. The man backed out of the way.
"Good, Eric" the man, whose name was James, said.
"Thanks, Grandpa," Eric said, "So, what were you going to show me after my birthday training session. What was that about anyway?"
"You've heard of Steve correct?" James said.
"I think I know enough," Eric said.
"I need to show you something."
Eric followed his grandfather up a tall mountain. For an old man, he was still a fast climber. It was only noon when they got to the top, where a statue of the great Steve stood. He was riding his horse, sword in hand.
"What are we here for?" Eric asked.
"Remember the helmet you picked this morning before training?" James said.
"Yeah."
"It looked like any ordinary diamond helmet, right?"
"Yeah. There were a ton of them. I just picked out a random one."
"For many years, me and the other village elders have known that on this day, a hero would be chosen to fight a new threat. The Wither is supposed to defeat a new threat to the End in the form of a human. I knew it was you due to your power, but the other elders weren't sure. But the helmet you chose was actually Steve's helmet. Only the true hero, though not knowing, would grab the helmet. You have passed the first test."
"So, the Ender Dragon's back?"
"No. I think it's best I explain to you the story of Steve and the Ender Dragon. Long ago, three men were sent into the End to seek and destroy the Ender Dragon at all costs before he tore a rift into our world. However, only two men came back. The one who fell is, as you know, Steve. It was nearly impossible to kill the Ender Dragon, but just in case, the dragon bonded his soul to Steve's so that if Steve was victorious, then Steve would die, too.
"However, Steve could not succeed even with the help of his allies. Just as his two comrades were about to be knocked off the island by the dragon, Steve did the one thing he could do to save them and save our world at the same time. He jumped off the edge of the End. Once he died, the Ender Dragon died too. Yesterday, it was 100 years since the Ender Dragon was killed."
"I already know that, Grandpa."
"Here's where you come in. There is an enderman of great power hidden deep within the caves of the End. He searches for the Dragon Egg for whoever has that egg has control over all endermen. This enderman who wants the egg is named Kaido. He wields a magic staff he found at the very bottom of the End.
"Steve's spirit warned him of the cost of wielding the staff. The hero, who is you, is destined to defeat Kaido. However, Steve was a man of peace. He only fought when he had to. This is why he warned Kaido about the staff several times. However, Kaido is too power-hungry. He wouldn't let go. In fact, when the other endermen tried to destroy the staff, he tricked them with a worthless duplicate.
"The reason I had you go through training today is because you need to be ready to fight Kaido. Today is the day that you were chosen. This means we don't have much time before you have to fight Kaido. But before you go off, there is one more thing I must show you."
"What is it?" Eric asked. James walked behind the statue and pushed a button. Suddenly, the statue disappeared, leaving behind only a pressure plate which probably brought the statue back to its original place. Under where the statue was, there was a ladder, leading down under the mountain's base. The two climbed down into a stronghold.
"This stronghold is the one where the End Portal is and where Steve's sword is," James said. They walked through the stronghold until James stopped and mined out two blocks, revealing a secret room. Inside was an obsidian pedestal with a diamond sword. Strange symbols were inscribed into the blade.
"This is Steve's sword," James said, "Use it against Kaido. Besides endermen, this sword is the only thing powerful enough to destroy the staff. I cannot wield it, but you must be able to as you are the hero of legend."
Eric approached the pedestal and grasped the blade's handle with both hands. He pulled the sword out of the pedestal and suddenly a beam of light similar to that of a beacon erupted from the pedestal. Then an image of the hero Steve appeared.
"You have done well, Eric," Steve said, "You have now freed me to begin my journey back to life. I'll be able to help you when you are ready to fight Kaido. However, I won't remember anything that happened after I died. While you are quite skilled with your Wither power, you must learn the art of the sword. You still have a month until you are ready. I'd use this time to have James train you. I know you can do it."
Steve's spirit vanished with that.
----------
"Steve," I heard a voice say. I must've fallen asleep.
"Steve," the voice said again. I got up and the memories came back slowly. I don't know how I lived after diving headfirst into the void but at least I was alive. I looked around, but I couldn't see who was talking. The world was just pale white. I couldn't see any walls and the floor felt like bedrock but was also the same shade of white."
"Glad to see you're awake," the voice said, then chuckled. The voice didn't seem to come from any direction, but all around. I reached for my sword and found I still had it. That was good.
"Don't be afraid, Steve," the voice said again.
"Who are you? Where am I?" I asked.
"I will not reveal my identity yet," the voice said, "But I will answer your other question. You've been asleep, Steve. It's been a hundred years. Once again the End is in trouble. Sadly, you are not technically alive yet."
"So, where exactly is this, then?" I asked.
"This is the Respawn Land," the voice said, "That's not the official name, but I figure it'll be easier for you to remember that way. You must go through many trials to return to your world in order to assist the hero destined to defeat Kaido, a mage with an urge to find the Dragon Egg. This hero holds the same blade you have. Your blades are two halves of a whole: the spiritual blade and the wordly blade. When they unite, Kaido can be defeated."
"So, where do I start?"
"I shall take you to where you need to begin," the voice said. Suddenly, I was in a different room. A dungeon made of quartz. Guarding a door to the next room were several zombies carrying swords and wearing armor.
The first chapter lays it on thick though... You get told your destiny in a quick jumble of words, and you shrug and don't really care? Unless your character is a dunce i don't think that fits.
Prob soon. I'm planning on not writing chapters as often to give me more time for Rift planning and to write better chapters (hopefully. I'm off my game D:)

Just asking, not pressing.
