REMINDER: This is CARTER's story, not David and Destiny's.
Hello people of the Literature Forums! I've decided to start development of this story because this is Carter's story, not David and Destiny's (As I already said). Also, I'm sorry there isn't much "story" to read. I will, sooner or later, edit this and fix up the thread. Same goes for this as for The Eternal Mine, it might be a little longer than usually to get out chapters, but they will be out soon. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy.
NOTE: Some of the items and mechanics used or implemented in the story, "Disciples of the First," are not in the actual video game or are included in other popular game titles. In this story, Herobrine is mentioned. Please remember that Herobrine is a hoax and isn't real. This story is purely fiction. This story is also a work in progress and will not be complete indefinitely. But, monthly or occasional updates will be made through out the development of the story. Please provide feedback for anything I can improve on.
The Codex
"Nothing's written here yet... I should check later."
Waking up on the side of a treacherous cliff is not how I want to spend my morning. But life sucks sometimes, or at least that's how I see it.
My face was resting on the rough ground and I was literally on a bed of rocks. I could hear the harsh waves crashing down on a wall. The sun was proudly standing tall above the sky, shining its rays into my eyes. The edge of the cliff was about five feet from me. I was very confused.
Wait, where am I? How did I get up here? What is this place?
I slowly approached the edge of the cliff to find rocks, threatening me with death if I fell. The ocean waves looked more hostile than I imagined. Wind blowing from the same direction the waves came from.
I do not want to go that way.
Behind me, as I turned around, was a vast forest with a colorful variety of trees and other wildlife. Aside from it was a valley of sand and cacti, a gigantic desert. There was also a jungle, the skyscraper sized trees and vines hanging off them made it stand out. Small bushes were spread throughout the forest like the toys always left in my room by my brothers.
Where the hell am I? How did I get up here? My thoughts rushed through my head as quickly they came in. The last thing I remember was falling asleep on my bed, in the middle of the night. Now I'm in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely no civilization in sight.
I started to panic. How will I get home? Where will I go? How will I survive? Will anyone find me?
"Calm down, Carter!" I told myself. "No one's going to find you if you're dead!"
I took a deep breath and relaxed. I focused on getting off this cliff. I surveyed the area. Oh man, how am I going to survive?
"That's how I'm going to..."
Parallel to the cliff side, there was a small incline leading to the main land. This couldn't be nature. The cliff was like a huge rock placed feet from the plateau and the incline was like a terra formed bridge to it.
This didn't look right but it was my only chance of survival since there was nothing for me on the cliff. I walked across the bridge and towards the plateau. Suddenly, a heard the sound of rocks clashing with each other and falling down. My head swung around to see the cliff collapse into the ocean. One by one, pieces and chunks of the cliff fell.
"That doesn't seem nature..." I muttered.
What caused that? How did that trigger right after I walked off it? Well, it's not really gonna help me find any supplies questioning it now. Maybe someone's out to kill me, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it... That wasn't intentional.
Venturing deeper into the forest, that greeted me when I stepped on the plateau, I realized that I'm not going to find food and shelter in a box. I might have to make that. But how?
No tools, no supplies, and certainly no experience. I am just a fourteen year old. I can't really do much without the Internet as my guide.
After wandering around the trees for a good ten minutes, I started to lose faith. I slumped myself down against the base of the tree. I felt the hard, rough bark scrap against my brown Hurley shirt my dad gave me as a "hand me down."
I'm going to die out here, I thought to myself. My head fell back on the tree. Then I heard the opening of a crack that reignited my hope.
I looked back and saw a small crack in the wood. I didn't hit the tree that hard and I felt no pain. I curiously punch the tree with my bare fists, noticeably making contact. I heard the noise again and the crack got bigger. No pain and no splinters. I punched it again, and again, and again. Until the entire thing collapsed from the damage. For a moment I thought the tree would fall and I'd have to scream timber, but it didn't. A huge space separated the tree itself with its foundation.
This defies everything I know and believe in. Apparently trees can defy the laws of physics and gravity. Should I be worried about that?
Beside from the gap in the wood, I noticed that break that part of the wood made something. A piece of the tree and floating inches from the ground. It was revolving like a incessantly rotating globe. Am I already going crazy?
I picked it up and held it on my palm. Now I was starting to worry because something was written in pen on my palm. Or at least I think it's pen. A box with four squares was drawn on my palm. At the thought of that, the wood split into four individual wooden blocks, perfectly symmetrical.
Okay, now I know I'm already going insane. This isn't real. Yet I could feel everything. I could feel my consciousness.
Anyways, what can I do with these four blocks? At the thought of that, as if on command, the four blocks went to their respective squares on my palm and created another block. This one was made of a slightly darker shade of brown than the other four blocks. A hammer and a saw were attached to two sides of the table. On top of it was a design of squares similar to the one on my palm, except it had nine squares instead of four.
The block fell to the ground and expanded into a larger block, up to the height of my waist and size of the one part of the tree. You know what, I'm just gonna except it now.
What the hell am I going to do with this? I don't know how to make stuff. Much less make it efficient or useful.
Suddenly, as I put both of my hands on the table, the sun started to set. Slowly, it was descending behind the horizon. It was beautiful.
Okay, it's getting dark. I can survive one night in the wilderness, right?
I shouldn't get my hopes up.

If you've only read Disciples of the First, you only know part of the story...
This is only the rough draft of the first chapter, I will be adding to it. I released it early because I got impatient. As for the story's relation to The Eternal Mine, this story is a prequel to The Eternal Mine, explaining Carter's story.
