Prologue
Many, many months have lead up to this day... this 'virtual' world that I've grown fond of has been under great turmoil for as long as I can remember. Villagers and pigmen alike have told me of the unnaturally high numbers of aggressive Endermen recently, and my inside coded-friend, dotExecute has informed me of the cause.
A great dragon, named Nathair, is disrupting an apparent 'balance' between the three dimensions of this world. This balance is news to me, but it is not the first time dotExecute has kept things secret from me. His job as a Failsafe Artificial Inteligence (FAI) has given him the ability to read and interpret the 'games' inner code. If he's truly a part of the game it makes sense he keeps secrets; it'd be too easy otherwise... right?
That said... I have yet to find a way out of this virtual world. Although truthfully I've almost stopped caring for escape. I've grown comfortable here in this world of freedom and adventure. That said if this "Nathair" keeps up with this chaos then it will be impossible for anyone to live well. He must be stopped.
dotExecute has told me much, almost too much. He's revealed to me many things of this dragon. His hostilities, weaknesses, and abilities. And at last the day has arrived for me to enter the dragon's domain. The Ender.
I have gathered resources, and stored a great amount in my enderchest to take with me. dotExecute has informed me I won't be able to return until I defeat Nathair. It will be a long and tiring time, but at this point I think it's worth it for what has become my home.
Welcome to a not so typical "Ender Dragon" Battle-Fiction.
This fanfiction revolves around the idea that someone who has found themselves within the virtual world of Minecraft, playing like a real person. When they die, they are dead. Literally. Think of it like super-hardcore mode. They have spent months here, with only one companion; an artificial intelligence who claims to be a failsafe in the games code. This failsafe is helping the character survive, knowing that they would lose their life to the game.
The 'player' has lived the Minecraft life all this time, and has at last been given reason to hunt down the "Ender Dragon" (in this case referred to as Nathair, which means "snake.")
But answer me this... what happens when an artificial intelligence is too smart? Does its objective remain the same, or does a new goal come into mind?

I have arrived.
The moment I found myself standing on the obsidian platform I knew I wasn’t going to have an easy start. The dragon, Nathair, immediately charged at me, and I found myself standing on a black platform floating high over the void.
To my amazing luck, the dragon missed on its first strike, and came back in a U-turn, sending my flying off the platform; towards land. Miraculously I landed in an alcove and away from where the dragon could send me to my death immediately. Taking advantage of this, I began digging into the ender stone to escape a vulnerable position. I managed to get deep inside and made a small room for me to hide out in.
dotExecute has offered to help keep track of time while I’m here in the ender. I’m very picky about when I do any writing. He said he would be able to keep a consistent inner-clock and help me keep a schedule for sleeping and being awake. It will be very useful for keeping my sanity…
As such I'll be keeping journal entries for this just to give me something to do. Provided I have time to myself, I'll be able to get some notes and self-talk and thoughts jotted down.
A surprise attack was certainly something I was not prepared for.
Hardly 10 minutes after setting up base, the roar of the Ender Dragon reached my ears. It sounded close. Too close. I heard the wings flapping, and it was growing louder. Nervousness arrived and a thought reached the back of my head. Unfortunately as a fool I kept it there instead of acting on it. The dragon did something I never saw coming, and came rocketing right through my new home base. Clean through many meters of end stone. He struck me once, fortunately not doing much, but while he was at it he obliterated everything I had placed down. Crafting table, chests, furnaces, and torches. Thankfully some torches remained along with my enderchest...
dotExecute informed me that he was not aware of the Ender Dragon's ability to do this, and that he was just as shocked as I was. However i do find this difficult to believe, considering he's an entity made up of this games code...
Regardless this is already proving to me that perhaps I'll have to act against the enderdragon a little sooner than I thought, instead of spending a few days or weeks preparing.
Day 3
Experiments and desperate measures are in order.
If the fiendish dragon Nathair can reach me from my hide out I will never be truly safe. Although the damage to myself is minimal the constant heart attacks and destroying of my chests and tables will be the end of me. On top of that I'm the sort of person who likes to have some time and 'relaxation' if I can help it. (This may not be optional anymore.)
dotExecute has advised me to build as far "underground" as i can without falling, to keep my distance from the creature. He's told me that if it flies too far away, it will stop moving and be frozen, meaning it will not attack. This is joyous news for me, as it will give me a resting break.
But on top of that, dotExecute has informed me that the Ender Dragon behaves like an Enderman, and does not like water. I happened to have two buckets of water within my enderchest and used them to make a spring, followed by coating the walls of my new base with water. I hope he's right, because the range at which the dragon can see me is very great. He'd have to lose focus for a while before getting far enough to be frozen. Until then I have the water as a defense.
The Ender Dragon remains silent... dotExecute was right, he has not attacked me all day. This is wonderful!
However I have been up four days straight according to dotExecute... and for good reason. He saved my life today. In my exhaustion I had placed a bed down to get some sleep. dotExecute calmly warned me against it, telling me not to use the bed. I questioned why, and he reminded me of what happened in the Nether months ago.
I had nearly died that day. Never again will I attempt to sleep comfortably in the underworld. dotExecute has informed me that beds work the very same way in the ender dimension. Naturally this scared me out of my wits for a few moments considering I was only seconds away from exploding. Therefore, after this entry I will be getting some much needed sleep; on safety of the cold hard floor.
Day 5
The silence was not to last. It was time I made my way to the surface of this floating hunk of rock.
I steadily mined my way to the top of the island, and not a minute in and the dragon began attacking me relentlessly. It’s a good thing I have good ears, because every time I heard those wings flap loudly I was given a warning he was on his way. Every 10 seconds I would duck back down the tunnel I was mining and watch as the dragon swooped through where I was a few moments ago.
This pattern repeated itself, many many times, sometimes I wouldn’t even get away in time, but thankfully the damage is minimal. With my fully enchanted diamond armor I take half a heart of damage per strike from the dragon.
At last I made it to the surface, and was greeted by several endermen staring me in the face. Battle immediately ensued and I was forced to not only fight 3 of the creatures, but dodge their dragon king in the process and avoid looking at others. It was certainly chaotic, and I felt my heart trying to beat out of my chest, but that certainly didn’t stop me. I managed to pull out my enchanted sword, “Tine Maraigh” (meaning Fire Slay in Irish) and gave each Enderman one good slash across the chest.
Each immediately burst into flames, and teleported at incredible speed all around the map. To my amusement they continued burning as they had a seizure across their homeland, and they never attacked me again. dotExecute informed me that they became neutral again after taking damage from fire. This is perfect… anytime I get in a fight with them, one hit and they’ll leave me alone again!
I quickly made my escape back down the tunnel and into my home, satisfied with the experience. I’ve decided I’ll explore and get my bearings of the ‘overworld’ tomorrow.
Now crap starts to pick up speed. And we haven't even seen the worst of it yet. I'm thinking by probably Day 10 he'll be fighting the Dragon in full swing. And maybe more than just that dragon...
@stevefox74 Thank you! I really appreciate encouragement. "
