Hello, readers! I'm proud to say that this is my second fan fiction on the forums. After all the enjoyment I got out of writing my other fan fiction, The Wooden House, I decided to write a second one so that I could display other ideas that I had developed. This time i'll actually make reserved posts so I don't have to deal with overflow again. Boy, that was a mess. Anyway, this fan fiction takes place in version 4.0 of Minecraft and focuses on three heroes named Almo, Bulk, and Sammer. They are siblings who are reunited to save a world famous scientist named Cavor. He is responsible for creating electricity in Minecraftia and as a result is kidnapped by a redstone monster and is army who have been driven to insanity for redstone has become obsolete. They plan to seek revenge on Cavor for he has depleted their power source. That's pretty much all the information I can share with you on the plot, you'll have to read the story to see more! Hope you guys enjoy!
Prologue:
"Cavor Cross. My name, in case you were wondering. Ever since I was a child darkness was my greatest fear, it prevented me from mining like everyone else. So for most of my childhood I was isolated from the community and anyone who approached me treated me like a nobody and called me a talentless fool. They could not feel my pain, nobody could. Any time I got close to a cave and attempted to mine some cobblestone or some ore, I would faint. Even at night time I would sleep in my bed with all the lights on so no mobs would even dare to spawn near me or my shelter."
The skeletal fingers of a hand that belonged to a dark figure tapped on a wooden table.
"Why are you so afraid of darkness, Cavor?"
"It dates all the way back to when I was only the age of three. We had run out of coal, you see. Me and my parents. Together we sat, inside a dark household without any source of light to prevent the villainous mobs from spawning outside. Eventually, a group of zombies destroyed the wooden door and stormed into the house. My parents did everything they could to ensure I was safe, they broke a glass block and motioned for me to escape through the small opening. I did. By the time I had escaped it was too late to call for help, my parents were dead. I managed to retreat to a nearby village before the group of zombies went after me next. Thus, spawning my fear of the dark."
The dark figure pounded his fist on the table and reached through some iron bars in order to grasp Cavor by his shirt.
"We want to hear the most important part of this somewhat emotional tale, fool! Tell us, what made you create the un-holy power source that has drawn our race to extinction! Dare I even say it...Electricity. Everyone in Minecraftia sees redstone as dirt now because of it! Everything they do, from lighting to television even to automatic pickaxes! Everything is electricity! Why do you make us suffer? Tell us! WHY?!"
Cavor sighed.
"Very well, I shall tell you what event lead to my brilliant creation. During my college years at Pig University my final task was to mine at least ten diamonds during a mining expedition in order to graduate. I was an intelligent being, and I would do anything to ensure that I would finish my education. So, despite my fear of darkness, I agreed to going on a mining expedition with my professor, Steve. I have to tell you, during the entire trip I had to have placed at least a thousand torches. Every block I placed one! I didn't want to encounter any monster. Soon enough I had mined nine diamonds and the last one was in my line of sight. Sadly, as I walked over to get it some gravel below me collapsed and tossed me into a mineshaft. Cave spiders were all around me and there was no light to be found. I had a severe panic attack and immedietly made a small room in the side of a cobble wall. Sadly, my pickaxe broke soon after. I closed up the hole and sat in the darkness, with my eyes closed, making no movement whatsoever. I waited and waited for someone to come and find me, but nobody did. Versions passed and I still couldn't find a way to escape the mineshaft. Eventually I grew sick due to a low food supply and I became nothing but a skeleton. Not dead, techincally. Being trapped in a mineshaft around your biggest fear gives you time to think. As I was down there I wrote blueprints all over the cobblestone walls after an idea struck me! A power source that is one million times more powerful than a redstone and admits a light much greater than a torch. Electricity. Eventually, a group of miners found me. They were horrified at first because they believed I was an actual skeleton but I explained to them that my name was Cavor. Turns out, I became a pretty big talk around Minecraftia. I had been declared missing for over two versions. Me being found was a shock. Anyway, I got a job as a skeleton archer for the army and as soon as I got enough money I went on to make my idea a reality. With an ender pearl, a blaze rod, a stack of beacons, and some emeralds, I created what is known today as The Core. It is the source of electricity and it creates unlimited energy out of nothing! It's what powers Minecraftia today, much more than redstone could EVER do!"
The dark figure seemed interested, and he chuckled.
"How touching. So this "Core" block is the source of your hellish creation? Would it happen to be this?"
Redstone lamps on the cieling flashed on and lighted up a gigantic laboratory where an odd piece of machinery sat. It was constructed of some sort of lapis lazuli metal and iron blocks. In the center of the machine were four small rods hooked up to a flashing block. It was The Core, the source of Minecraftian electricity. In the laboratory there were scientists tied up in string and millions of odd looking mobs. They resembled silverfish, but they had large wings and their skin was dark red, like redstone. The dark figure in front of Cavor was one of them.
"What are you going to do with my machine, you monster?!"
"Isn't it obvious? This disgusting creation is to be shut off immedietly! But don't worry, we will find a use for it once our leader is among us once again..."
"What are you blabbering about?"
The figure pointed behind him to reveal a piece of redstone wire being placed on the wall by servants.
"May I present to you an unknown piece of redstone material known as Dark Redstone. When this single piece is activated via lever or button it will resurrect our faithful leader, Lord Quail. He was trapped by your kind, simply because he thought that redstone would be best for society! How cruel can you people be? We try to do what's best for you and you turn around and stab us in the back with a sword. Ha! May he teach you all a lesson!"
The figure nodded at the servants and they placed a button on the wall. When the button was pushed, the dark redstone began to glow and black smoke started to form over it. The ground shook violently for minutes until everything became calm when the black smoke hovered to the center of the laboratory and became the shape of an insect like monster with a minecraftian form. It was Lord Quail, ruler of the redstone bugs.
The figure smiled.
"Your services are no longer needed, Cavor."
He flicked a lever and Cavor's cage was pushed to another location by a group of pistons.
