As I walked home to the Janni Camp to confirm with the Mayor I've completed my mission, I noticed the forest was in an uproar. I've killed far more than the normal amount of Zombies and Spiders on the trip. I wonder if one of the villagers wandered into the woods? As I continuted through the brush to the trail, a noticed a small pack of Zombies approaching a location. They don't swarm like that without a target. There must be a villager in here somewhere. I think I was right, because as soon as I got to the road, a man was attacked by a Zombie. I killed it and helped him up.
"I shall be your escort, young man."
He looked at me half confused.
"What are you doing wandering alone?"
He certainly didn't look like any of the villagers. None that I knew.
"I had just woken up on a beach, not far from here. I'm not sure how I got here."
Strange...It's been quite a while since something like this has happened. I suppose I'll take him to the village.
"Hmm. Either way, we need to leave these woods, 'tis dangerous with the Bandits and Necromancers on the prowl. The Janni Camp is not far from here. It is safe, and you'll be able to prepare yourself."
We walked past the defense points between the forest and the town. It seemed they were holding out well. As we approached the town, Kroma yelled to us from behind the battlements to make sure we weren't the undead.
"Halt! Who goes there?!"
"Knight Zraia, with a wanderer."
"Zraia!? Please enter! The Mayor wishes to see you immediately!"
The wanderer seemed quiet, maybe he was thinking deeply about something? As we walked in, I felt immediately at home. The market, the villagers, the smell of bread baking, and meat cooking warmed me. I removed my helmet, and I noticed the wanderer was examining me closely. Best not get too attached, we're bound to get separated. I explained to him what was going on.
"As you may know, I am Zraia. I am one of the best swordsman in the entire region. We are in the Janni Camp, a town for wanderers, warriors and people who do not follow a God."
"God?"
"Yes. The Gods actually roam the land, and have ever since the realm was made. I suggest you choose one, as they may help you in a time of need. Also, choosing a God would give you some support from your fellow followers."
"Who do I have to choose from?"
I really didn't want to be the one to explain all of this, but it seems like I had no choice. As long as I don't have to fight him later on.
"There are many Gods. I shall list them, and their attributes: Tok-Dramae, the God of Peace; Tok-Harral, the God of Doom; Tok-Medasz, the God of Matter; Tok-Zephyz, the God of Life; Yzaar-Drakus, the Elder God of the Void; Yzaar-Takous, the Elder God of Creation; and Yzaar-Raptoris, the Elder God of Balance...Also, I forgot to ask, what is your name?"
I felt embarrassed about forgetting to ask his name. It so disrespectful, I hope he'll forgive me. Just calling him wanderer all this time...
Episode 2: The Mayor~~~~~
"My name's Mikael. And I think I want to follow Yzaar-Raptoris."
"Alright, Mikael. Now I'll show you the Temple. You seemed quite interested in it on our way here."
As we began to walk to the Temple, I heard a scream...That was all too familiar. It was the little girl that lives next door to me, and she was in trouble!
"It's in the lower town! Hurry!"
He seemed completely lost, so he kept close. When we arrived, the Soldiers were already on the job of saving her. But, the wall had been breached, and more Zombies would eventually get through.
"Mikael! Do you have a weapon?"
"No."
"Check the nearby supply hut, quickly!"
As he ran to the hut, me and the Soldiers took down quite a few, but we just couldn't take down all of the big ones. When he got back, he cast a Dark spell and it devastated them. I knew he'd get in trouble for casting that...There wasn't much I could do. He demolished the remaining Zombies around the girl, and I finished the stragglers. I picked her up, and returned her home to her family. But, when I returned, Mikael was gone. None of the Soldiers would tell me where he was. I spent the rest of the day asking people who saw the event if they saw him leave. Late in the evening I recieved word that the prison had been breached. When I arrived, I went above the wing that was breached and listened through the ceiling. I heard Mikael's voice:
"Wait! Help me!"
I rushed to where I heard it, and I started bashing through. When I got in, I was between the attackers, and Guard crossbowmen. I was ashamed to attack my own men, but I did without hesitation. There were too many. I backed up, faced the attackers, and told them to move. I fired my Nova spell at the wall and we all escaped into the main room. The room was filled with Guards.
"Mikael, go grab your items! We've got a battle before us!"
He left, and the Captain spoke.
"You all have two choices. You can surrender, and you'll all be killed in trial, or you can fight and you'll all die anyways."
As I answered, Mikael returned.
"You lot of two choices! Move out of the way and let us walk, or face my Sword!"
"Fine. Ready! Aim and FIR- AHHHHHHH!"
I had used my Swiftness spell to slice off the Captain's head. The Guards retreated, except for a Juggernaut. I couldn't help with this. He was too valuable, and I couldn't be responsible.
"Mikael, you have been much trouble to this town. I cannot let you leave. I did not want it to come to this."
The fight was intense, and I have no clue how Mikael did so well.
"It did not have to come to this..."
The Juggernaut exploded into a pile of blood and bones. Mikael walked outside as the sun began to rise.
"Who are you?"
I was surprised at this.
"What, Mikael? You don't remember me?"
I guess he noticed it was me shortly after.
"I can't believe they imprisoned you the day you come to town. As much as it pains me to do so, I must report this to the Mayor. That doesn't mean I'm leaving you. We must go to the Temple."
We snuck to the Temple to avoid any Guards on patrol. We walked inside, and I closed the doors so no one would follow us. We approached the altar, and I bowed.
"Bow to him! This is Tok-Dramae!"
He bowed, and Dramae opened his eyes.
"Ahh. Mikael. I've been expecting you. You've caused great panic in this town. However, this is not your fault. My laws do forbid Dark Magic here, but, you were unaware. Your imprisonment was faulty. Thus, I forgive you. Now, is there anything you wish to ask?"
