This is sort of a "Log" rather than showing you the finished product first. We'll see how this goes!
I'm working on a project in my spare time with the Minecraft Soundtrack by C418:
1. Transcribing the music. I sort of pride myself in my ability to do this.
2. Arranging. I originally wanted to do a cappella reproductions (think college a cappella groups or "the Sing Off"), but there are simply far too many high instruments for all of them, so it will be more "arrangements" than reproductions.
3. When I get the whole set, I'll figure out some way to share it as a "soundtrack mod."
4. Add "mods" for other styles: hip-hop, rock, jazz, polka, country, etc. Maybe even I'll write words to it.

That ending part was pretty tricky because there are a lot of effects my music writing program does have. This one will also be impossible to do an a cappella reproduction, so it may not sound as close to the original as the Hal 2 a cappella one above.
Rock(ish) version, with lyrics! (added 10 Aug 2013) new Embed Removed: https://www.minecraftforum.net/linkout?remoteUrl=http://www.jimlapbap.com/files/a/Hal3Rock.mp3
I decided to try this (sorta) rock version of the song, and added some lyrics, pondering the storage chest's existence. All instruments are played by me except the drums and percussion. I might release this as a video on my YouTube page.

A Cappella Version (added 3 Aug 2013)
Embed Removed: https://www.minecraftforum.net/linkout?remoteUrl=http://www.jimlapbap.com/files/a/hal2-mc-a-cappella-2013-08-03.mp3 There are a LOT of instruments that are way out of my range, so this was heavily pitch-shifted and corrected. I'm a composer/arranger, not a performer, for those people "accusing" me of Auto-Tuning (I use Melodyne, not Auto-Tune!)
