Jack was falling. That was all he knew. He didn't know why or how it happened. He just knew that he was falling. Then the ground came into view. There we hills and valleys and streams and BANG! He hit the ground and was unconscious.
Jack woke up. He was sore all over. He didn't know where he was. All he knew was that he had fallen. He couldn't remember anything else. O god! I Forgot my name! He thought. What the heck is happening to me?! He tried to stand, but his legs and feet were too stiff to support him. Why was i falling? He wondered.
Suddenly, a rustle in the bushes near him managed to get him to his feet. It was only a cow.
"Dang you stupid cow! You scared the crap out of me!" He yelled.
Another rustle in the bushes near him didn't scare home at first. Then when he saw what came out he screamed and ran. He ran until his legs felt like lead and he couldn't run any longer.
"What the..." Jack tried to catch his breath. "...heck was that?"
He had thought that he saw a zombie, but that couldn't be. Zombies were make believe creatures that appeared only in video games, not in real life! This thought reminded him of his name. Jack, yes, Jack is my name! He thought.
At this point he thought, well, obviously he would die pretty soon out here if zombies were actually real. He decided that if he was going to survive this new world, he was going to need to make a house. Preferably a castle. He started to think about what he would need. Then, when he finally figured out what he would do, he walked over to the nearest tree. It was a big tree with lots of low, dead branches. Perfect! he thought. Jack broke off one of the lower branches that was quite thick. He then found a stone and some vines. Then he looked another stone that was flat. Soon he found a good stone that would meet his needs. Using the first stone, he chipped away at the edges of the second stone until the second stone, which he would use as the head of an axe was quite sharp. Using the vines, he then secured the sharp axe head to a piece of branch using the vines as string. This axe was the first tool he made. He then chopped down a couple of trees, and cut then into wood planks. After doing this several times he realized that he had enough wooden planks to make a sort of doorway into a hill. He then made a shovel using a knife the he had made much like the axe, and dug into the side of the hill, making a room that was plenty big enough for him. He then made a doorway, then a door in the doorway and was quite happy and proud of himself.
By now it was dark outside. At this time he sat down in a wooden chair he had made inside his hole in the hill, and thought about the recent events. After a while, he suddenly remembered that he was 15.
Screaming suddenly aroused him out of his thoughts and back to the present. Taking up his knife, he walked outside and ran in the woods towards the screaming until he came to a clearing.
He saw a skeleton with a bow, yes a moving skeleton draw a bow and fire. The arrow sailed across the sky, right into the left arm of a girl who Jack had never seen until now. Running across the clearing to the girl.
"It's gonna be alright" he said as he pulled the arrow out of the girl, even though he knew that this was definently not the case. There were about three zombies dragging themselves toward them and the skeleton with the bow had been joined by yes another one and was still firing at them. The girl then fainted. Oh great, he thought, that's gonna help! He picked up the girl, and ran as fast as he could back to his house in the hill. Once he got inside, he set the girl down on a makeshift wood bed filled with grass that he had made earlier that day, and slammed the door closed. He layer down on the floor panting and eventually slept.
The next morning he woke up wondering where he was. Then he remembered, he was in some other world and could remember nothing else. He checked on the girl who's life he had save last night. She was still sleeping on his bed. He the realized that he was very hungry. He went outside to hunt and gather food. He found some wild strawberries. He picked all of the ones that were ripe. He also found a cow. But decided that us would be almost impossible to kill the cow with a knife. So he fashioned a bow out of a yew tree and attached some vines to act as a bowstring. Then he made some arrows, that he sharpened, then tied leaves onto to act as semi-permanent flights for the arrow. Man, that would be great if he could find some chickens or ducks to Get feathers from to make more permanent flights for the arrows.
Jack then went back to the place that he saw the cow, hoping that it was still there. Luckily for him it was. Jack drew back the bow, aimed and fired. The arrow flew true, hitting the animal in the heart, killing it almost instantly. The cow tried to run, but didn't get far before it fell, dead.
Jack hauled the animal back to his home in the hill. Once he got back, he made a furnace, and had cut up the cow into pieces of meat. He took a cole of the bones of the cow that looked like they could be used as tools, and buried the rest in a hole. Jack put some of the cut meat in a crate, and to preserve it he sprinkled some salt that he had found on a beach. The rest of the meat, he put in the furnace and cooked.
At this time, the girl he had saved from monsters the night before, had woken up.
"Where am I?" She asked. After Jack reminded her, she started to cry. jack sat besides her and hugged her saying "It's all right, it's all right. I'm here for you. We can make it through together."
"No, no! It's not all right! We are stuck in the wilderness! With nothing! I don't even remember who I freaking am!" The girl yelled. Then she continued to cry.
"Look, maybe I'm not the person you want with you or you don't want to be here, but I nor you, have a choice. Ok? So pull yourself together and lets have something to eat."
The thought of food seemed to get her going again. Jack gave her some of the strawberries and steak that he had cooked. He then to the shovel and started digging a room for the girl whose name he, nor she knew. After Jack had finished the girl's room and the girl had finished eating, she suddenly got up and ran to him and hugged him, crying again.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I don't know. I just need somebody to be there for me okay?" She said looking him straight in the eye.
"Don't worry, I'll be that person for you." He said softly.
She hugged him again for what seemed like hours. Suddenly she said, "I remember! I remember what my name is!"
"What is it?" Asked, excited.
"My name is Bailey!" She said excitedly.
"And mine is Jack!" He told her, realizing that he had never told her that before They sat down on the bed and hugged each other talking about what they would do for the rest of the day. They saw nor hear any monsters that night and slept peacefully together in the bed.
The next day, they made a pick for mining, and a sword to defend themselves against the monsters. Bailey made a second pick for herself and another sword out of hardwood while Jack went mining with the pick.
Jack mined for quite a while until he came to a cave. It was very dark. He wondered if there was any coal down here that he might be able to make a torch with. In the darkness he soon found a large deposit of coal. He mined a bit of it, but his pick soon broke. Using the stone that he had already mined, he made himself another pick that was stronger than the wood one he had been using. This new pick axe was made from stone. Jack mined the rest of the coal.
Continuing on through the cave, with he found to be a tunnel, placing torches as a went along to light the area up, he came across an odd looking rock that was shiny and looked a grey orangey color. Jack mined it using his stone pick. Behind it was even more of the ore, which he later found out was iron ore. Jack then went back up the tunnel to the surface, but before he did so, he blocked of the two ends of the tunnel just incase a monster was down there. I don't want any surprises, he thought to himself.
When he got back to the surface Bailey was waiting for him.
"Hello Jack. Did you find anything?" She asked.
"Yes, I did. I found some coal, and what I think is iron ore."
"Cool! Do you have to like burn it or something to turn it into an ingot?"
"Yes. I will put it in the furnace and smelt it."
"I was thinking that we should build a castle."
"I agree."
"Lets do it then!"
The next couple of weeks went by quite quickly. Jack collected cobblestone and built the castle while Bailey made picks, axes, and collected wood. More people joined our growing city every day. I did not know that there were this many people living in this world. Soon we had a great city with a population of about 250. With a new baby every couple of weeks or so. Jack and Bailey were the king and queen of the whole city. The monsters had not attacked since Jack and Bailey's first night living in this new world. This worried them both as they knew that if the monsters were not attacking, then their numbers would be growing. Would they try to create a huge force and try to defeat the humans, who seemed to be their mortal enemies, once and for all. This worried the both, but what was even more worrying was the fact that a normal monster was not capable of such battle tactics. Monsters have only one goal in their usually short lives. Kill. Kill every human that they see, or die trying. It could not be a monster rallying the other monsters. It must be a human. Who wants revenge...
