Title (include link): Steve's Journey
Author(s):Dejers Garth
Name of Character(s) Wanted to be Featured: Steve, (Might cause problems)
Description of said Character: Steve is a rugged Survivor that is kept alive by advanced technology. Wears blue shirt and blue jeans.
Sypnopsis (like a book jacket summary): A science fiction story, set in the universe of Minecraft. Following Steve's path to redemption or eternal death. Throughout the multi-verse. (Would occur before this story) How many stories and/or fanfictions have you wrote before this one?: 2
So if Dejers, or anyone else with a story that has Steve as the main character for that matter, gets accepted, there would be more than one Steve in the story? I'm not saying this works out favorably or unfavorably for him, but how would that work? Someone should make a "Steve Compilation Thread" featuring all the Steve's throughout the Literature subsection. I'd do it myself but I'm far too lazy.
Feel free to leave your comments. Or criticisms, I suppose, if they're constructive. Almost anything really, unless it's an outright threat. In that case I'd prefer you put it in a private message.
Well, the Steve issues is actually one of my problems with his story. But at the same time, Steve encountering himself in a different reality would be... interesting.
Title (include link): Knights of the Blocky Order
Author(s): Tanksverylot
Name of Character(s) Wanted to be Featured: Leogretor, ("You") Aziken, ("I") Amy, direwolf20 (To be shown in chapter 3)
Description of said Character:
Errrm, How do I describe four people at once? Well, Leogretor, is a kid that wants to rush into battle, he wears a gunslinger set
and wields an autogun
. Aziken is an adult who is always trying to be tactical, he wears a jelly set
and wields an acheron
and an umbra driver
that are both engineered that every slime it nearly kills, turns sides. Amy is a kid who has a desire to strategically blow things up, she wears a demo suit
and wields a deadly dark matter bomb
. direwolf20 is an adult who is from the Minecraft Youtube realm, he is wearing a wolver set
and wields a neutralizer
that is instead of blue, yellow, and any wolf shot by it will change sides. Sypnopsis (like a book jacket summary): A weird inter-dimensional rift appears in both the Minecraft realm and the Spiral Knights realm. A few people, vs. two worlds of monsters.
How many stories and/or fanfictions have you wrote before this one?: I don't know, I've done alot though.

I can picture it already: The man woke up on a sandy beach to the sound of waves crashing against the shore. He got up slowly and looked down at himself. He wore a bright blue shirt and dark blue pants. He didn't remember anything, save that his name was "Steve". He dusted the sand off himself and looked at the sky. The sun was high in the horizon, and as he looked at the thick trees of the forest ahead of him, and felt a sudden sense of adventure. Just as he was imagining all the grand structures he could build and dark mineshafts he could go spelunking in, a figure burst through the trees. He looked at him for a second, then smiled and ran up to him so he could shake his hand. He wore the seem bright blue shirt and dark blue pants as Steve, and he wore a red "Hello! My Name Is:" nametag that read "Steve 2478" in black ink letters. "Oh hello! You must be a new arrival"
"I suppose. I just woke up on this beach with no memory of who I am." said Steve in his usual brave, heroic manner. "My name is Steve. May I ask yours?"
"Ah. Pleased to meet you Steve. I, as you can see, am Steve #2478. Before I forget, you'll be needing this." He took a "Hello! My Name Is:" name tag identical to his own out of his pocket and attached it to Steve's bright blue shirt. He then took a black SharpieTM out of the same pocket and wrote "Steve #133526" on it. "That's your number." he explained.
"What?" asked Steve, confused. "I'm sorry, but I'm usually just called "Steve". I'm kind of a one-of-a-kind, one-in-a-million, when-they-made-me-they-broke-the-mold type of hero. I'm way too courageous and brilliant and quick-witted and whatever other adjectives a typical fanfiction writer might use to describe my greatness to have anyone else be like me. There are no other Steves."
Steve #2478 laughed. "You have a lot to learn, my friend. Perhaps if the two of us could climb to the top of one of those trees, I could show you what I mean when I say that there are many, many more just like you here." He pointed to the trees in the forest. Not one to shy away from a test of skill and physique, Steve followed him as he began to walk towards it. When he reached the brown wood base of the nearest tree, an oak, he began to climb it, and Steve followed him. When they were both at the top, Steve #2478 spoke. "So, now do you see?"
"What's there to see from this height?" asked Steve. In response Steve #2478 pointed to the land visible ahead of them.
"Every Steve from every Minecraft fanfic every written ends up here, no matter how bad it was. Welcome, Steve #133526, to the Island of Steves!" As he said this he spread out his arms in a grand gesture and Steve looked at the land with a gasp. Ahead of him, in every piece of land as far as he could see, there were other Steves. Some held diamond pickaxes and mined iron aboveground while beads of sweat rolled off their foreheads, others wired Redstone circuitry so elaborate that it might have baffled Notch himself and still others built grand fortresses and castles that would have put those with college degrees in Architecture to shame. In every way, they were, each and every one of them, completely unrealistic and exaggerated main characters. Steve #2478 smiled at the beautiful view. "So, are you impressed?"
"Steve #133526?" he asked when he didn't receive a response. He turned, and saw that the son of Notch, the model of courage and brilliance, the single most perfect man in Minecraftia, had fainted in shock. Steve #2478 laughed. "Typical new guy."

Oh god, that's hilarious. It would make an absolutely brilliant fan fiction, too.
That's exactly what I thought! He's the typical hero, the person every new fanfiction writer gives their own traits and then proceeds to make an ideal version of themselves. Sometimes he's done right, but sadly the many, many bad fanfictions centered around him give him a bad name.
Though that's admittedly probably because the most basic thing new writers usually do on the Literature subsection is just write their literal actions during a game of Minecraft, and Steve is the main character of Minecraft. So either it's him or "they got magically sucked into Minecraft", a concept I hate just as much for stories. But I shouldn't complain. It's all just more material for my upcoming "Angry Critique of the Minecraft Forums Literature Subsection" .
After that, we can call you the Yahtzee of Minecraftia!

That is bad! lol.
@sc1020 I posted to get it here, at the very least i will be able to say i tried.
Yahtzee? I like it! And the Literature subsection does need more angry, enraged reviewers to review stories. Everyone now, partially including myself, is way too nice. We need to take a lesson from good old xXCyber_MasterXx in frustration and uncontrolled fury. That'll teach those mediocre writers!
Though "An Angry Critique of the Entire Literature Subsection of the Minecraft Forums" would take a lifetime to write, and once you got done writing it there'd be like a hundred more horrible stories just posted. And my dreams were indeed pretty nice.
Feel free to leave your comments. Or criticisms, I suppose, if they're constructive. Almost anything really, unless it's an outright threat. In that case I'd prefer you put it in a private message.
P.S. Knights of the Blocky Order will not be featured in Rift. Meanwhile, the decision between Super's fic and FlyingPig's fic is still undecided. I am, however, close to a decision...

Why not? Tell me why! Oh, I am NOT using 2nd person, It's only lasting for that story. Also, as I asked earlier, can I call you Singeing Cat?

Knights of the Blocky Order was denied because, while it looked good at first, I didn't like it in general. It wasn't just the Second Person. I also believe that crossover fics shouldn't be in here for then I have to implement the mechanics of said story.
P.S. Minefic: Legacy people should know that the Short Story Contest will be held tomorrow (or today for people in New Zealand, the Philippines, and other areas like that). Also, if I am to take up Farteh's offer and revamp the Minefic blog, I will be doing a staff search for people to help me with the blog. While I am only 12 myself, age won't be too much of a worry for some of you younger writers
