A long time ago, in a place that kinda looks far, far away but is just around the corner, I started PvP and Faction wars. I wrote my adventures in a book to keep track of it because I really want to remember the time when I was enthousiastic about Faction wars. Note, however, that this is raw text, copied and pasted, including formats. "§n" signifies a new chapter.
"Before I start, I shall say first that this book is based off true events at the Left4Green server. Names HAVE been changed to hide the identities of those people who were really involved in this mess, except mine, of course. Server address: minecraft.nl Part 1: Mr. Green §bNow, this was the time I began the adventure. I was a noob back then, and I to be honest was terrible at PvP. But it was full of adventures, even if it involved no PvP. So ask yourself, is it worth finding the action before the root?§l§o§n Get Psyched! §nPart 1
§rNow, I thought it was time to get into higher action, and not just creative building and monster fighting. Those may be impressive, but in environments as dangerous as these, they are barely useful. So, as I thought I got ready for what was ahead of me, I challenged myself. Eventually, with the Factions Bukkit plugin, someone invited me to his faction and I joined. Not the wisest course of action, because he kicked and killed me. I decided to leave the Safe Zone and go make a faction. I ran into some dude. To this day, I still don't know his name, but I remembered his skin. He beat me up with his wooden sword, but that was way less of a match to my stone sword. In the end, we became friendly and we created a faction. It's name was Stealth. Today this faction name means a lot to me. You may be wondering why, but that information has still yet time to wait.
§nPart 2
§rNow, someone I never met in my life but seemed friendly asked to join me. His name is Bicube6. He was a pal to me. We set out camp somewhere. Wasn't the wisest choice because it wasn't far from spawn A, a major deathzone. It's amazing how way out of hand Faction Wars servers can go!
Anyway, we mined, we worked, we got iron equipment. I took my teammates as the most important people of my faction. Now, my memory may be running low on the events. Soon, I had to disband my faction. Being the leader wasn't easy.
§nPart 3
§rIt was harder to find a faction that would take me in rather than to lead one. I got to join a somewhat weak faction, not that it was a problem to me. It had a few members. One guy was in diamond armor, which probably wasn't good. Soon, we heard TNT going *BOOM!* *BOOM!* Does it ring a bell on who is here? Our worst nightmares have come to deprive us of our resources and courage. And the man in diamond? He betrayed us! He left our faction to abide by his own kind.
Thinking fast, we blocked up our one entrance to Death's room. The leader threw the pickaxe at me to mine an escape tunnel. Running through the cave, sprinting for my life, I ran out into the ice cold Tundra. I was the only survivor of the attack.
§nPart 4
§rEver since that one-survivor assault, it's been hard to join a good faction. I'm not talking about with diamonds and things like that. I'm talking about one that is trustworthy. Eventually, I joined someone named BigTreesapRacoon. He was a good dude. We went through the desert biome not too far from us. We walked and walked and someone else joined us. It was a friend of BigTreesapRacoon who he apparently knows in real life. As we kept walking, we found a faction base. Destroyed and full of holes, pretty much. We found a few supplies we may need. Then, all of a sudden, the friend of BigTreesapRacoon left the team and tried to kill me! I killed him, and I was worried BigTreesapRacoon might do the same, so I left. Later, he found out and left me for green. I somewhat understand his point of view, since I went AWOL. I pleaded him to re-invite me but he refused to. Later, I talked to him and he told me the answer to why I don't join weak factions; because I want power.
"Big, you are somewhat right about that. Well, I suppose I should keep walking along to find a faction of any kind. Well, good luck to you in the future, BigTreesapRacoon!"
§nPart 5
§rEver since I left that faction, all the invitations I got were traps. All people did was kick and kill me. Until I hit one more faction; the Devil Kings. I told them I was good at sniping, and it's true, but up to a point. If I am in iron and facing off a guy in diamond, I'm screwed. So let's just say I am best at someone my own size. Also matters on how much lag I get.
So the Devil Kings invited me to join them. I helped them, got them food and minerals, and they rewarded me with iron armor and a diamond sword. It was good, having our allies next door was also a pleasure to us, until our lethal enemies came. They were nothing at all like other guys in diamond. All it takes is one hit to kill us, and their armor is enchanted with Protection IV, enough to withstand a whole day in Minecraft in lava. They came to our ally's base, and the house was empty except for one of the enemy faction. His name is RejyDaSuperSexy. The faction we were up against was called the Lone Wolves. My mind is now at ease to know there is no more Protection IV enchantments in 1.3, but I wish I could be glad back then.
They were nowhere near merciful. They killed us and took our stuff, giving only a few shards of armor back. All the leader could say was this.
"The battle is lost, but the war has just begun."
WAR HAS JUST BEGUN? We didn't realize how powerful they were until the map reset twice. When the leader went offline, I did too. That's something that'll take a while to forget.
§nPart 6
§rI left the base in hope of something. I created a new faction, this time I went to somewhere close to the old base of Stealth. It was named Evildude, and 3 people joined so far as I remembered. Wasn't for long until I became friendly with a great faction named Looters. They said they needed some supplies. Of course, being an enemy against them would be guerrilla, so I decided to come to them. I traveled as far as I could, climbing vines, going into jungle trees, walking in the Plains, going past a spawn point, until I reached their base at the border of the world. Not the Far Lands type, though. So it was somewhere near their base I went. They were mining and I brought some supplies to them. One of the two in the caves was OwensVisitor. I gave him things like iron, he gave me 2 diamonds in return. Then, I saw some names.
"Who the hell are those people?" I asked.
"I don't know. Probably an ally?" he replied.
It wasn't. Men in iron have come for us! I pulled out my bow and started shooting at them. I ran close to them and tried burning them. I didn't manage to kill the two guys, but a teammate in the Looters did. In the end, I disbanded my faction to join the Looters and help them in their adventures. So BlueGuard, the leader of Looters, invited me. The base was huge! It was in the sky as well. I bought a plot with one diamond and an ender pearl. I had the complete sense of safety until one day...
§nPart 7
§rOne day, as I woke up from my bed, typed /f home, I found the ugly truth. The base is in ruins, and at the Faction Spawn there were some signs saying:
"We have recently been raided. BlueGuard is currently working to find an area and build another base. Keep tuned."
Ok then. So how long will it take? A few days, or a week or two?
I went through the Portal to Hell once and then back. I got onto a platform of some sort. I went down a water duct and found nothing of interest. I typed /f home, but this message horrified me: "You cannot teleport to your faction home while an enemy is within 32 blocks."
I was determined to defend what's left of my base. But there was something else instilled in me: FEAR. The thought that it was just one or two people coming to the base and bombarding it! I went back a bit, went to the spawn, and went through the Portal and back, and they were right there; they killed me in just two hits.
"Chaimanner, looks like you have a Sharpness II Looting III Knockback I sword. Congratulations, you got us proof that your faction dupes.
"We killed one of your colleagues and he had the same weapon as you did. The people in your faction duplicate."
I remember one time. OwensVisitor made a nether portal with water flowing towards it and a workbench next to it. That's a 1.1 duplication glitch. I still didn't leave yet.
§nPart 8
§rI left for adventure. I went AWOL and walked out randomly. I, to my dismay, got confronted with a guy in diamond. I got invited without notice to Ferret Gods. I went right to the Faction home, but it was a drowning trap. A trick to everyone who joined. I left the faction and then, the Sky Fighters, an enemy to the Ferret Gods, invited me to them. They gave me some equipment and then we left to attack the Ferret Gods. Yet despite all the taunting we did to the leader, he didn't leave his base. We called it quits in the end, but the leader of my team told me that they don't trust me, so I got demoted. I soon went to fight mobs, and the leader told me that I can't keep the armor either. We worked together on an Enderman, and in the end he gave me a choice; either leave, or get kicked and killed. So I left. Of course, who wouldn't choose that option.
I came across a base, but something was wrong. It wasn't protected, nor was it not in my mind. What the hell was it? Who lived there? I went in to find a horror. Someone was mining. Before I died to a girl with enchantments, I caught the name.
Her name is sonofafish.
§nPart 9
§rShe told me she has 86 diamond blocks. She also said she has Protection III armor. Not exactly my cup of tea, per se. So, I kept asking to join someone and somewhat bluffing of my skills. Yet, I met an "old friend."
It's Bicube6, he re-created Stealth. He asked me to join. I joined, and he had given me some iron to get started. But soon enough I came face-to-face with my unintentionally mortal enemy. I got killed. Bicube6 didn't fight. Was a little funny of how he was chasing me all the way and we were just walking slowly in water. We soon became allies, which was a relief.
I later ventured out into the open and found the faction RAGEKILLS, leaded by 102014CW. I came to his base armed with an iron (or diamond) sword amd some splash potions of poison. He, however, took me by surprise and flanked me from behind! I got some more equipment, this time including bows and arrows, accompanid by my new ally, to the base of RAGEKILLS. This time he had diamond armor, and all I did was knock him off a ladder, which killed him but I didn't get his stuff in time.
Later, it was 102014CW's turn. He came to our base with a cloaked ally, and Bicube6 tried attacking them. All I could do was distract them to no avail. Bicube6 had no choice to kick and kill me, which was the right thing to do for I was a noob.
§nPart 10
§rI re-joined Looters, but I couldn't do it directly since I went AWOL from the faction. I had to go to the boot camp first to join Looters.
I rejoined because an enemy came. He had diamond and he alledgedly hacked. BlueGuard was killed, but he took me back into Looters because I saved his stuff from the enemy.
Sometime later, redmountainwarhero, a well-known member, was angry at something. He had apparently started some kind of fight that I didn't pay attention to. Eventually BlueGuard broke up the Looters faction. Civil war broke out and people started killing others on sight. I got killed by someone on BlueGuard's side.
I, being back at the spawn point, was drafted into Sub Zero, a new but head-started faction.
The team already had full diamond armor for everybody, and that was impressive. Soon I built myself a plot, set down my bed, and was just sitting down to relax when a colleague of mine told me something that to this day I have engraved on a golden plaque: "The leader was a fool to give us all this diamond equipment, whether it was duplicated or whether it was found via hard work (Editor's note: It took me a few months to get two full stacks of diamond plus a stack of 12.), that was a bad idea. What if one of us, his now-trusted people, are backstabbers and are ony waiting for the one and only chance to betray us and abide by the deadly agents that are our enemies?"
