On a server I play on, we recently built a library in the town we've set up. The server is running a mod that allows players to place books in bookshelves, and I had a wonderful idea to include tips and help about playing Minecraft.
The townsfolk that built the library included a section for fiction and history (in addition to my original idea of help books). Unfortunately, we have nothing to fill it with... until a quick Google search pointed me here.
Anyways, on to my point. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in writing (or converting their original fiction) such that it can easily be copied into a Book and Quill.
According to the wiki, books are a max of 50 pages each, with 256 characters and 13 lines per page. Furthermore, each line can only have 19 characters, and text can only be copy-pasted if it fits onto a single page. This makes it tricky to fit some pre-written text into the book (mostly the length and copy-paste limitations). I tried copying the Enderman entry on the wiki into Book and Quill form. While successful, it took a lot of time and editing. If people would like to share their work, it would speed things up greatly if their work was pre-formatted.
Of course, you will get full credit for your work. If you'd like, I can meet you in game and you can fill out and finish the book (so your name is on it).
What do people think? Are you block enough to write to the restrictions above? Do you want to show your work off? Want to see how long it will take to fill a floor full of bookshelves?
As I've said in my topic, I was planning to add my story into the game by sharing it through some third parties programs. I already have an unfinished version with more than 50 pages that could be easily downloaded from the game using the BookShop Mod (outdated on forum but up to date on the site). You guys had a great idea and I would like to help if I can
The book can absolutely be split into volumes. It should just fit into those parameters so it can be easily transported.
@Gpeto: That should like a cool idea. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'd be able to use that mod, since this is on a server I do no run/administrate. It'd be great if I could though, so that I could keep a backup and help others spread the love on other servers.
I understand, no problem if you can't use this mod. And how it gonna work? I send you the text so you put it in your server? Right now I'm quite busy but I'll definitely join this project if you want me to
