Once, in minecraft, when the servers were ALL new, people would join together small groups, most called them
Trios. Those three people would live in a small house together, and thrive. More people would join in, the trio's land transforming into a village, then a town. People would share resources, and develop a currency. Most, back in alpha, used seeds. Wheat seeds were a cheap object to obtain, but then people would get paid for tearing up the town farm. And so, when gold nuggets were introduced, It worked well as a currency. Any gold bars smelted would have to be given to the bank. Most were good about it, some would rob the bank then move to another town. Those people would get hunted down by assassins. They wore iron armor, but also had leather, for the more dirt colored biomes. Iron for snow, leather for savanna, and diamond (if available) for large areas of ice. I was one. They had tested me to see if they could see me, and it was hard; I changed not my armor but my SKIN to match the color of my surroundings. By the time 1.6 came about, It was easy to hide, just press shift ingame to sneak, so you couldn't see my nameplate over long distances. By 1.7, assassins (which were rare in the first place) had mostly been forgotten. Then people started just... running up to the people that stole things and mindlessly slapped them with daisies and picks. 1.8 ruined it all. The terrain generation now is all the same, and there are more things to make, but... That means more resources are needed. People split from the mighty Chaos server, which has 2 days until final closure in 1.4.7 now. Before people left, they stripped the lands of their resources, populating cramped ravines and shooting arrows from side to side of them, swearing and cursing at each other to leave.... Wars... It was truly sad.. Seeing so many best friends turn on each other, over a single iron sword to defend themselves with so they could take a walk across town without being killed..... And the things I say are true... Ask people that have played on that server... But the worst part is.... Many people I had been great friends with, even if I never met then in real life.... I lost... The two are: Goldblosom, & Blazblue217... Thanks, you two, for helping me enjoy the community before It was gone..... La40858
By The way, the assassins were BARLY on any server, and is not usual on ones that DID have them.... It was REALLY fun being one... What was cool is that you keep their stuff and split all the gold with the bank, if it was uneven the bank kept the extra ingot / nugget
Yes, But it's more... Erm.... It's about how strong the community was back then. People actually CARED what happened to their pets, people wouldn't have so many wars..... Rage wars that is.... People were more civilized. The robberies of the "banks" and the assassinations (they actually affected the people, towns were established VERY far from spawn) didn't help. There were NO tp/warp/f home/sethome commands on the server I played on, so you'd have to find a new town or have someone say the Coords to you. This is just meant to TRY to show people (Noobs) what Minecraft was like community-wise before 1.8. It had a MUCH better community... I'm serious about this stuff. Nowadays if you see a name tag in an abandoned mineshaft, you either go to kill the person or run away. Once it ended up being my friend (Goldblosom) and we both went for the kill. Nobody got hurt though.
I have a VERY hard time explaining things, and for other people It was hard to explain aswell. I shouldn't have posted this..... I was just trying to explain how the community has run downhill. Apparently, I failed.

I understand this story. I had a similar experience once. I played constantly on a vanilla server in the early Betas (all I remember, before wolves were introduced).
Everyone had to walk everywhere, and friendships blossomed with people never met in real life.
Then I guess right before the 1.4 update, griefers came and destroyed the entire community.
The server went downhill, and it turned into a PvP zone, with barely any people on any more.
It's sad to see communities turned into rubble just by people causing havoc.
Exactly. THAT is what I was trying to say. Thanks. (The only difference is that everyone stayed; although they were still fighting... For their plot of land

~sc1020, the confused LOZ-obsessed dude.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Everyone had to walk everywhere, and friendships blossomed with people never met in real life.

I dare you to click it.
