Hello, I am TheMinecraftMeme12, and I will tell you a tale called...
The Shadows of the Cursed
a story of an unlikely friendship
Explanation:
The story begins with Asher, a zombie whose feelings for humans aren't always the same as the others, he stumbles upon a man named Steve, little did they know that they would soon have a friendship that none could ever think of, join them in a journey of adventure, trust, and fun as they bring justice and equality to the world.
CHAPTER ONE
I am a monster.
I can’t believe what I did. I look at the human I’ve freshly killed. His eyes are wide, his mouth open, like he’s still screaming, bloody and beaten.
What is wrong with me? I didn’t mean to do that, I didn’t want to, but it seemed like I was commanded by something or someone inside me.
I shake that feeling away. “Get it together, Asher, you are a zombie. You aren’t weak, show them you’re powerful.” I say to myself.
I look at my prey; I guess I should bring him home. I start to carry him, he’s quite heavy and it seems that he’s gaining more weight in every step I take. The grass rustles softly in the night, a sense of calmness fills me, but not enough to assure me that whatever I’ve done wasn’t on purpose, I look away from the corpse I’m carrying, guilt filling my body.
It takes a while, but finally I see the cave. The cave us monsters live in ever since the dawn of time, I enter and turn to a wall, I take a deep breath. “Open up” I say. One block is taken out, and I can see the eyes of an Enderman.
“What is our code?” he says in a raspy voice. “We are monsters. Led by the great Herobrine, The humans have destroyed our land, hypnotizing passive mobs and slaughtering them for food, destroying forests and making houses and even burning jungles for their own amusement. It is our duty to exterminate every one of them from our land.” I reply in a boring tone.
I shudder whenever I say this. I never liked Herobrine; he was cruel and focused on power. I stop and get angry at myself. “What are you thinking? Herobrine made you! You shouldn’t disrespect him like that!” I shout in my mind. The Enderman looks at me weirdly and puts the block in. A few seconds later, the wall disappears, and I am let in.
Our home is very large. It is a domed-in cave that stretches out for miles and miles. There are many large circular holes on the bottom sides of the cave. Each has a name.
One for each race: Zombie, Skeleton (and Wither Skeleton), Creeper, Spider (all kinds), Enderman (and pet bats), Witch (and pet Silverfish) and Slimes. Then the Nether ones, Pigman, Ghast, Magma Cubes, and Blaze.
I grab my game and hurry to my own home, the zombie race. I enter the hole. And it brings me to a large village filled with my kind. It’s sort of like the testificate villages in the overworld. I go to my home and open the door.
“I’m home.” I say, getting exhausted by the human I’m carrying. My mother and father are at the dining room, I can hear my mother’s calls. “Asher, come to the table please!” she yells.
I come in, and they’re all seated on their chairs, my father, mother, and my 10 years-dead brother, Claws.
I check the table and see what’s for dinner. Brains and body parts, as usual, I wonder when I’ll get to eat other food. “I brought… game” I mutter as I drag the body and drop it on the table, my father looks pleased. “My son has brought us a blessing. By Herobrine, it looks delicious.” He says, carrying it and bringing it to the kitchen.
I shudder, why must I be the one to hunt? Even, if it’s a delicacy to us, I can’t get the guilt and anger out of me.
Claws gobbles the food up and then licks the blood off his fingers to satisfy him. I look at him in disgust.
“What are you looking at?” Claws growls as he licks his plate clean. “Nothing, what’s your problem?” I hiss. Both of us are locked into an intimidating staring contest.
Mother coughs loudly and stands up, “Settle down, boys.”
Dad comes in from the kitchen, he cleans his hand with a tissue and sits down, I guess that poor human was chopped. “So, are you three going to check out the event later at the Center?”
I glance at Dad, “What event?”
“Don’t know. Said it was vulgar, though.” He shrugs, eating his dinner.
Mom shakes her head, “I’m not letting my Claws watch something like that, he’s just a boy.” Claws cuddles her, as if he’s trying to act as an overgrown stuffed animal.
“Asher can come with me; he’s brave enough!” Dad chuckles, nudging my arm.
I roll my eyes, “I guess I’ll go.”
An hour later my Father and I exit out of the village and go into the middle of the domed in cave, or simply referred to as the Center. There are many monsters, more than a thousand. I wonder what’s going on.
Suddenly, a roar pierces the air. I shut my ears tight with my hands. Man, talk about a wake up call.
I see a stone stage, it looks bloody and old. It took me a few seconds to realize what it was for when I saw 2 figures on top of it.
A large, muscular, zombie Pigman, and a beaten up Human. The human has his arms and feet chained to the wall of the stage. I can see the zombie pigman clutching a whip and a dagger.
There is a burst of anger that’s building up in my head. I close my eyes tight, “Restrain yourself!” I whisper.
A short Enderman climbs up the stage, it looks like one of those hosts I see in TV shows like Eat or Don’t Eat. He talks to the Pigman, I can’t hear it because of the noise of the incredibly large crowd, they talk for a while, and then he speaks.
“Monsters of all kind! We are here to witness the suffering of this pathetic little human who has stumbled across our home! Let’s see if he’s going to destroy our land!” he booms, spitting at the man’s feet. The human trembles in fright. The pigman laughs and prepares to take his whip and dagger out and shows it to the crowd. Undoubtedly, they all yell for action.
I can feel myself building up my anger. That man is innocent. Leave him alone. I say in my mind. My conscience argues with me.
He is a human. A destroyer of the land, he must punish for his wrongdoings.
He was just mining, I doubt this man even burned a forest.
He DESTROYS THE LAND
And we don’t?!
You are a disgrace. Make your race proud and do something right for once.
Oh I will…
The argument with myself was quickly put to an end after I heard the painful yells of the human. He is now bloody and his shirt is torn. The pigman tied the dagger to his whip and is now tearing his skin in every whip he makes.
The Enderman is cheering the pigman on, “Yeah! Alright! Show him who’s boss! Wonderful!”
The monsters around me don’t even care about the human. They’re just cheering and roaring like the Enderman is.
I can’t stand this. I’m tired of this crap. I turn to my side and see my father; he is obviously enjoying this as well.
“Sorry, dad.” I say to my father as he claps.
“What are you saying—” I sped off into the crowd until I could even hear him finish. I shove the monsters in front of me. Making some of them annoyed. “Hey, watch where you’re going!” a Creeper says, nearly exploding with anger. I ignore him, refocusing on my goal, my eyes are set on that man.
Now, the pigman is slashing the human’s face with the dagger, I can see his face, it’s full of cuts and blood, his nose is bleeding furiously, his eyes are full of fear and tears. I can’t stand it anymore, I focus all my anger on the pigman
“ENOUGH!” I roar as I push the Enderman aside. The pigman stares at me and grunts, “What do you think you’re doing?”
I grab the dagger from his hand and slash his throat, not once, but multiple times, enjoying every wound I give him. Blood gushes out and he coughs and gags as he holds his cut. Ignoring the scream of the crowd, I quickly cut off the chains of the human and carry him. Feeling confused, the man yells and tries to punch me. It barely hurts since he’s too weak.
I jump off the stage and make a run for it. The crowd is too stunned to react; I can hear the shouts of my father behind me. “Asher! Come back!” he shouts repeatedly. Guilt and regret fills in me, I can’t go back,
I’ll die if I do.
CHAPTER TWO
I go past the Endermen who block the entrance and break the wall, for some reason I don’t understand this remarkable power that’s in me at the moment. I run off until I see the cave exit.
It’s Daytime, my stomach lurches as I go closer to the light, I look back, 2 Skeletons are following, drawing their bows back. I gulp, this is going to be hard, the human tries to wriggle out of my grasp, but I stop him.
Finally, I step outside the cave; I can immediately feel my skin starting to heat up. I run as far as I can from the skeletons, then, my arm catches on fire.
I scream and look for the closest shade possible, I see a tree 10 blocks near me and I dash off to it. I put the human down and quickly put out the fire, thankfully, it’s not very painful.
The human coughs out blood, I sit next to him. “Hey, uh, are you okay?” I rumble, it’s my first time talking to a living person, it feels weird.
The man coughs out more blood, “I feel fantastic” he says sarcastically.
I laugh awkwardly, I notice an apple in the tree, I reach for it and give it to him. He hesitates at first, then finally eats it. “Why did you save me?” he asks, munching on the apple slowly. “I don’t know… In all my life, I’ve hated how they treated humans, I guess this time I couldn’t take it anymore.”
He looks at me, as if it’s the most ridiculous thing he’s ever heard. “Well, my name is Asher. What about you?” “Steve… it’s Steve” he says.
We both keep quiet for a long time, the sun sets after a while, and I know the guards will come looking for me.
“We have to leave soon” I stand up, darkness fills the sky, I grab Steve and we dash off once again.
Minutes passed, then hours, I look at the horizon in front of us. “Where do you live?” I question him, taking short stops every now and then.
“Just go straight, I think it should be around the corner” he replies, he’s still wounded badly, and every time he speaks he coughs loudly. After a few minutes, I see light, then a house made out of cobblestone and wood. It looks like a cottage; I wonder what it’s like to live there.
“That one, that’s my house” says Steve in excitement.
We walk over the house, Steve gets off and unlocks the door, I follow him and as I go close he turns around and draws his sword.
"Can I trust you?" he says shakily, the blood is leaking from his hand. I sigh heavily.
"Believe me, I won't hurt you. I promise" I shiver, Steve glares at me and we pause for a while, he withdraws his sword and sticks his hand out.
"Truce?" he asks
I nod and shake his hand, both of us enter the house, thinking about our new acquaintanceship
“Open the chest over there, you’ll see a potion. Get it and give it to me.” Steve orders as I look around the house.
“A what?” I say stupidly. I have never seen a potion before, ever since the Witches came, I always wanted to try one.
“It’s made of glass and it has liquid inside it” he says in an annoyed way.
I walk over to the Chest, it takes some elbow grease to open it. Dust fills my nostrils and I sneeze loudly, making Steve flinch.
“Jesus, Asher.” He groans.
I ignore him and search for the potion, there are many contents inside, pickaxes, swords, leather armor… stone, too much items that I can’t name all of them. Finally I see it, I reach deep inside the chest and take it out. So this is a potion. It’s entirely made of glass with a sponge like cover and there’s pink liquid inside. I hand it over to Steve as he sits on his bed.
Steve takes it eagerly and opens the cover, “Thanks” he says. He sniffs it, scrunches his nose and drinks the liquid. It must taste weird; I wonder what will happen… Suddenly, his scars fade, his cuts have disappeared and his bruises have been completely wiped out. He looks like a healthy human, my jaw drops.
Steve gets off the bed and stretches his muscles, “Perfect! Thanks so much.” I examine his body, how did that happen? My mind is full of wonders until I realize I’m wounded as well. Just now my burn is hurting so bad, my legs are fatigue, and I’m thirsty and hungry as heck. I guess all that rage and power inside me has worn off.
In my instincts I’m tempted to eat Steve, but I fight it off and focus on other food. I’m starting to get dizzy; I sit down in one of the chairs near the bed. “Could I get something to replenish my health?” I say exhaustedly, the burn doesn’t hurt that much but it’s stinging every now and then, I look at Steve, he’s busy crafting something.
“Perfect timing, I just made a Golden Apple, it’s not as powerful as the other one, but it’ll do.” He says, giving out his creation to me.
It’s so shiny and beautiful, not a speck of dust or any rotting sides like an ordinary apple, it looks like it’s painted with Gold, this is my first time to eat something that’s not brains and other human parts, I try to imagine the flavor of it.
“What’s it made out off?” I ask curiously, twirling the apple in my hand. He gives a grin, “Well, golden nuggets, there’s no taste of metal in it though, trust me.” I take a bite, suddenly a burst of energy flows inside me, I can’t describe it, but it’s like fresh air and whenever I take a bite, a part of me is regenerated again. The taste is sweet and scrumptious, just like an apple but it’s more crunchy and delicious. I eat slowly, enjoying every moment I have with it. My body becomes more and more energized and fulfilling. Sadly, I finished it all.
I wipe off the mess on the sides of my mouth, “That was the most epic thing I’ve tasted.” I look at my arm, it’s not burned anymore. I am full, but I need some water to wash down the apple I ate.
“Got anything to drink? I’m parched.” I say softly, my tongue getting dry.
Steve flexes his arms and legs, “Yeah, there’s a lake near here outside my home, it’s clean and I suppose you can drink from there.” I nod at him and get out, due to my stupidity, it’s day.
The door is locked behind me and I desperately knock the door, trying to signal him that it’s morning and I’m probably going to burn to ash, I can feel my back getting hotter by the second. With luck, Steve rushes and opens the door, making me run back in, shivering in fright.
“That’s pretty smart of you” he jokes, I roll my eyes at him, “Oh shut up, there’s no windows in here, how do you expect me to know the time?” He grabs a golden compass or what seems to be a time teller. I cock my head in interest, “Is that a clock? How do you even make all of these things?” He laughs, “With redstone, Asher”
“Here’s something to protect you from the sun.” He pushes a small button that I didn’t even notice and the block underneath his feet disappears, I see him fall and hear water being splashed below, “I’ll be back in a bit!” he shouts. The block that has disappeared has been put back to place by a weird contractor.
He comes back in another exit, to my right I hear a lever being activated and I can see another block disappear from the floor, I look down the hole and there’s ladders, with no doubt, I see Steve climbing up with something in his pocket.
“Another potion?” I ask, Steve closes up the hole and gives it to me. Its liquid isn’t pink, this time it’s orange and bubbly, I don’t think I want to taste this one. He looks at me disappointingly, “I know what you’re thinking, but it will take forever to wait the sun out, unless you’d like to die of thirst.”
I sigh and take it, he opens the cover and I peer inside the potion, it smells sour, I pinch my nose and drink it.
Nothing happened, I check myself, my body is fine, I can’t hear my heartbeat, as always, I’m not dizzy, I’m not giant or anything. “What did you do to me?” I say confusingly.
“Fire Resistance, you can’t feel fire. So it means you can walk freely in the sun and do whatever you want! But it only lasts for 8 minutes, so be wary” he answers, smiling with his work.
I step outside the cottage, for the first time I’m actually savoring this moment as the heat bounces off me like rubber and glue, the lake isn’t too far away, I jog too it and look around the place.
Trees from all directions are scattered about, I hear pigs and sheep, the smell of fresh morning dew fill my nostrils and I shudder in happiness, who knew the day could be this amazing? The lake is in front of me now, it’s water is crystal clear, I could see fish and squids at the bottom, I bend down and drink some water; it’s very refreshing and cold, I decide to take a little dip in the lake before my potion effects wear off.
The cold current makes me feel energized, I bob my head up and down, I let the cool water spread across my scalp, I get out of the lake and dry off on the shade of a tree. I haven’t felt this relaxed in days.
As I dry off, I suddenly hear bones clacking and the sounds of hissing a few blocks away from me, I quickly hide in a bush and peer around, I could catch a glimpse of a Creeper. “See anything?” a hoarse voice asks, I immediately know that it’s a Skeleton, he’s standing on a shade of an overhang, the Creeper looks around, thankfully he doesn’t see the cottage.
“Nothing, bossssss” he replies, retreating to the shade. The skeleton doesn’t look very pleased and says an oath loudly. “Ugh, Lord Herobrine will not be happy. We will find that zombie and his human friend. Come, we must report our findings” he growls as the two of them walk inside a small cave opening.
I wait for a while, and jump out of the bush, my palms are sweaty, butterflies fill my stomach as I watch the shadows of the monsters fade; I need to tell Steve before it’s too late.
I dash and retrace my steps, minutes passed, and I’m starting to worry.
Where the hell is Steve?
CHAPTER THREE
I search frantically, I don’t see the house, how did I miss it? It’s too close to the lake that it’s impossible to not find it, I suddenly realize my potion effects, it’s still day, and I have around a minute left on me.
I run about, trying to find at least a glimpse of Cobblestone and planks, I try to think positive, I’m just seeing things; I will find Steve before they find him.
It took a few seconds for me to see something strange, I stumbled on this quite square like land, around it were trees, there were no grass or trees inside the square, in fact, it looks like someone just tore their own house apart this lot.
Before I could start thinking of possibilities, something rumbled down under, I can see pebbles vibrating and moving, and in a burst of wind, Steve’s cottage emerged from underground, I stood facing it, dumbfounded.
A figure opens the door, for a split second I grin and when the door is fully swung open, I realize it isn’t Steve.
It’s someone else.
It’s a man, he looks muscular and rough, he’s wearing a red shirt, khaki shorts and I can see a faded scar on his face.
I quickly defend myself and act tough, who is this strange man? And what’s he done with Steve?
The man looks at me, then wields his sword, it’s not any kind of sword, it was an iron one, but I could see a flame swallowing the blade, a purple aura glistens as the fire sword dances about, he smiles with smug and starts to charge at me, I charge at him too.
We are about 2 blocks away to collision when suddenly I hear a voice cry out.
“No, DON’T!”
We both stop in our tracks and turn to the direction of the voice, and there stood Steve outside his home, frightened and shocked, the man smirks, the fire in his sword goes out and he sheathes it.
“Oh, is this the guy you’re talking about?” the man says, he sounds like a thug; his gruff voice breaks the air.
Steve nods, he comes between the two of us and sighs.
“I should’ve gone with Asher, if I wasn’t here to stop you guys he wouldn’t be standing right now, no offence” he says, looking at me.
“Can we trust this kid? I mean, he’s a zombie. An enemy.” The man scowls, scratching his chin. I glare at him, “I can talk, you know, not just moan like a retard.”
The man laughs, “Oh, aren’t you the talker.”
Steve looks at him sarcastically, he then turns to me, “Asher, this is Cage, he’s quite known as a warrior and he’s been my friend for about a year.”
Cage grins, my muscles relax and I give a sigh of relief, “How’d your house do that?”
The roof is showered with small pieces of dirt, Steve coughs as the dust hits his face, “Cage is also a redstone expert, I was working with the redstone a while ago when you saw me go down to get a potion, it was too complicated for me so I called him for help while you were gone, it’s for emergencies, you know, house defense?”
“Which reminds me, I’m heading to town in a bit to get some supplies for the finishing touches.” Cage remarks,
“The town isn’t far from here, if you guys want to come with me I can show Asher around.” he exclaims, Steve quickly replies to his statement, “You do know that Asher is a zombie, and he can’t be exposed to sunlight, and with all the people staring at him, it would be hard for us.”
Cage folds his arms, “I can brew him a potion that’ll last forever, as long as he won’t drink milk, he will be immune to fire.”
I suddenly realize why I was in such a hurry in finding Steve, my potion duration! Just at that moment, I’m feeling hot, I run to the shade of the cottage, “Could we take this conversation inside?”
Steve unlocks the iron door and we go in, it’s much colder inside and it makes me feel sleepy.
“So, if ever night comes, how can people know I’m not a regular zombie walking around?” I say, walking thru and fro the house. Steve grabs something from his chest, it’s a green jacket.
“Wear it, it will separate you from the normal zombies, and the fact that you won’t attack them” he shrugs, this is very skeptical; humans will still consider me as a hostile target, I look at Cage, he presses a button and goes downstairs to what seems to be the basement, “I’ll make a potion, this might take long though.” He yells from below.
So now it’s the two of us, I sit down on a chair and wear the green jacket, I let the hoodie cover my head and face, the only thing visible is my mouth; Steve snaps his fingers.
“That’s it! You’ll pretend to be human! From a close range I still can’t tell if you’re a zombie with that hoodie covering you, we have a chance for you to blend in without people noticing.”
I frown, “That’s a terrible idea, and even if it does it won’t last for long, I think it’s better if they know that I’m a zombie.” Steve sighs and eats a piece of steak, my stomach begins to grumble.
Steve throws 2 pieces of steak at me, I catch it and gobble it up, he laughs and throws the leftovers in the furnace.
We talk for a while, then Cage pops up and hands me a potion.
“Drink it, don’t worry; I ain’t gonna poison ya.” He laughs. The potion is a dark orange, I drink it and it tastes sweet and sour, I feel nothing, which is actually a good thing.
“Try to go outside, let’s see if the sun will harm you.” He says, Steve brings a water bucket and both of them follow me out of the cottage.
As I go out, the sun welcomes me with hot rays of light, I prepare for the worst, but I feel no fire lighting up on my back.
“It works!” I yell, I jump in excitement. Cage goes down the stairs and says something. “Alright, let’s head to the-” but he stops in his tracks and grunts loudly, Steve and I look confused, Cage falls to his knees and clutches his left shoulder. My eyes widen as I see an arrow dug deep in his skin. I look around, and I see a Skeleton, followed by an Enderman, 2 Creepers, and a Zombie Pigman.
“RUN!” I scream, Steve carries Cage and we dash off into the woods.
CHAPTER FOUR
“Don’t let them get away!” yells the Skeleton, the Zombie pigman grunts and sprints towards us. I grab Steve’s wrist and run faster, I can see fallen leaves going past me in a blink of an eye, I hear the roars of the pigman and the hisses of the creepers. My stomach lurches again in fright. Cage snaps out of it and focuses on the monsters, he quickly gets off of Steve and grabs the two of us; he jumps 7 blocks high and we land on a tree, the both of us are dumbfounded.
“Asher, use this quick!” Steve says as he pulls a bow and a quiver out, he hands it to me and I quickly draw the bow back and try to aim at the pigman. “Steady… steady now.” I whisper, the pigman looks up and pauses for a few seconds, giving me the perfect moment.
FWIP!
He roars loudly that my ears nearly pop. “Right in the middle!” Steve grins. The arrow I shot is now stuck in his forehead; I can see red ooze coming out of his mouth. The zombie pigman falls to the ground motionless.
Cage grits his teeth, “There are still 3 more, we need to use the trees as our advantage!” He grabs the arrow from his shoulder and yanks it out, flinching in the process.
I nod at him and the three of us jump on one tree to the other, after about 20 minutes Cage tugs my jacket, “I think we lost them. We’re near the village, follow my lead.” He says.
Steve looks behind us, making sure the monsters aren’t on our tracks. “The sun is setting; we don’t want any of them searching for us.” I stop and rest on one of the branches below, “Could we take a break? I’m tired from all the jumping and running.”
Before Cage could respond, we hear a hiss below us and a Creeper is about to explode. I get up instantly and try to climb to the top of the tree with the two of them, too late.
KABOOM!
My ears are ringing, my head is spinning and I’m lying at the bottom of the crater the Creeper left, an immense pain is occurring on my body and I look at my stomach, my eyes widen in fear. The branch I was resting on has landed and pierced my right side. My forehead is dripping blood. I can hear Cage and Steve calling my name frantically, I close my eyes and let the darkness engulf me.
… … … …
“Asher…” A voice calls out, I wake up and see nothing but blackness surrounding me, I try to move but it’s like someone superglued me to a wall.
“Asher…!” it says more clearly, I try to speak but nothing comes out of my lips. A figure in the distance comes near me, frightened, I try to run.
The figure comes closer to the point that I can see who it is. I gasp and see my father, he looks sad and hurt. I want to run and embrace him, but he just stands there, staring right at me. A tear starts to roll down his cheek.
“Why have you left us? Why have you left us to be tortured?” he cries out. I’m confused, “I don’t know what you’re saying.” I am surprised to finally hear my voice.
Blood and gashes start to appear on him, I look at him with shock as more tears roll down his face, he comes closer to me; his footsteps echo into the dark. “You have betrayed your family” he says in a voice I’ve never heard before. It sounds evil and cold, his eyes turn pure white and his dark green skin turns back to life, I scream in horror as my father turns into the real Monster.
Herobrine.
He smiles widely and laughs, the darkness fades around us and I can see my home. I am suddenly transported back to the Cave.
But this time I don’t hear the busy murmurs of the crowd, the laughs of the children or the shrieks of the bats. All I hear are screams of pain coming from a room behind Herobrine.
“Let’s take a tour” He hisses.
The door of the room opens and I see bloodstains on the walls and floor, an assortment of knives on a table and surprisingly, my family.
My mother, father and my brother Claws are all chained to the wall with bruises and cuts. Claws is wailing loudly, his left eye looks like it got hit by a train, my mother is sobbing quietly and my father is unconscious. My eyes are filled with water; Herobrine notices this and slaps me across the face.
“They are suffering because of YOU.” He says angrily, slapping me again with more force. “This is your fault, you see? You saved a disgusting human, and left your family to be punished harshly. Did you know the consequences of breaking my law?!”
He slaps me again and again until my cheeks bleed. My father awakens and tries to comfort Claws and my mother.
I rub the blood of my cheek and grin shakily; I couldn’t control my feelings and let the tears roll down proudly, “You are a coward.” I say, Herobrine grows furious and slaps me again.
“Punishing my family for something they didn’t do, in turn making me try to rescue them. Is that what you’re making me do? Fall into your little trap? Why command the monsters to find me when you’re the most powerful one? It won’t be any trouble for you, I’m just a regular zombie aren’t I?” I spit at his feet, he yells and throws me far off. As I land Herobrine teleports to me.
“Shut up, you scum.” He grabs me and punches at my gut. Despite the pain I feel, I just laugh at his face.
“My family, they’re not really being tortured are they? You’re just making an illusion for me to run back to the cave.” Herobrine frowns and the background becomes darkness once again, I no longer feel the pain in me.
“You will regret this, Asher. I will find you and kill you.” He says, he comes closer to me, so close that we are inches away from each other. Then he disappears and I’m taken back to reality.
CHAPTER FIVE
The scent of lavender welcomes me; I can hear faint voices slowly getting louder. I am lying on a bed, as my vision becomes clearer, I see a very large nose in front of me.
“Aargh!” I yell, backing away.
My sight clears up and I see a testificate examining me, I sit straight on the bed and check my pierced abdomen, to my relief it’s covered up with bandages. I notice a trail of stained blood leading to the door and all the way to my bed, I guess I’ve been here for a while.
As I speak Cage opens the door and comes in, the testificate nods at him and exits the room. Steve enters in shortly.
“You okay Ash?” Steve asks; I see that he has a bandage near his left temple. Cage reads my papers grimly and sits down, his shoulder is bandaged tight. As I try to move, I feel a sharp pain on my side and howl. I decide to just lie down instead.
“I don’t think I am, hurts a lot.” I reply.
“Is your head fine?”
“My what?”
“Your head.” Steve repeats, pointing to my skull
I look up, and when I do I groan in pain, my forehead is throbbing immensely, as I try to deal with the injuries, Cage stands up from the chair. “Well squirt, it says here that you’re gonna have a hard time hearing, moving and basically doing any other agility stunts for a week or two. The doctors don’t know though, they’ve never dealt with an injured undead.” He chuckles softly, I roll my eyes at him.
The testificate comes back and fixes his glasses, he checks his watch and finally speaks, “Well, we could say that Asher here will be doing alright. His stitches will heal, although if he gets injured there again I’m not sure what I’ll do. It’s best if we let him drink a healing potion.”
I stare at the doctor, he looks very bizarre, these kind look at lot like Witches. Considering they’re a part of the Testificate Family. I can’t help but giggle whenever his huge nose moves; the doctor sees me and arches his eyebrows.
“Right, anyway here’s the medicine.” He pulls out a potion. The color is reddish pink.
I open it and drink it, at first everything felt normal but when the liquid reaches my stomach I almost vomit. Everything inside and outside of me hurts so much. It feels like a thousand bees stinging inside me. It feels like a battlefield, I spurt out blood and gag.
“What the hell?!” I manage to say
All 3 of them look shocked and quickly give me a glass of water, I drink slowly. “What did you put in this?” Steve says angrily, checking the potion.
“The ingredients for healing! I swear, we didn’t mean to hurt him!” the doctor sputters, Cage scrunches his eyebrows and becomes silent. Then suddenly speaks.
“Did you give him a Potion of Healing?”
“Y-yes… why?”
“Asher is undead! He gets damaged from that! You should’ve given him the opposite of this thing!” Steve says showing the potion out.
“I-I’m sorry sir! I will go and get one right away..!” He speaks, running to another room.
Steve sighs and looks around, he grabs a tissue and hands it to me, I wipe up the blood on my mouth and cough. My mother usually takes care of me whenever I’m in a situation like this, just thinking of my mother makes me feel homesick.
“I miss my family.” I say quietly
Steve glances at me and quickly turns away. I raise my eyebrow at him
“What?”
He turns his back to me, “…Nothing.”
“Where’s your family?” I ask, afraid that he’ll get angry at me.
“Hey, Asher… mind if you give Steve some space?” Cage interrupts, Steve looks at him, “No, no it’s okay… I can tell him.”
He goes out of the room and shortly comes back, a newspaper in his hand. He hands it over to me.
THE DAILY DIGGER
This week on The Daily Digger, our witness, Ernie Obhiam is here for a breaking news.
“It’s horrible, chief.” Ernie says, “at around 3 AM while I was asleep I smelled smoke from my window, as I looked out, my eyes widened in fear as I saw a burning house with people in it. I quickly called the fire department but I believe I was too late.”
The pictures show a burning house, 2 covered bodies and a glimpse of a suspect.
More pictures were in the next page, I could see a younger Steve sobbing, with his friends trying to comfort him. I hold the newspaper tight
“Ever since the incident I went solo, I met Cage when I stumbled upon this village. Stayed for 3 years, then they gave me a job, it was to mine minerals four times a week. My co-workers gave me a map to where I was supposed to dig, who knew that I discovered YOUR homeland.” He smiles weakly
The doctor comes back, with a bubbling purple potion. “This should heal you rather than damage, sir…” I grab the potion and drink, and when I do it’s like I’m eating that Golden Apple all over again. My punctured skin seemed to have healed dramatically, I could tell it worked by looking at my friend’s faces.
“Huh, go figure.” Cage laughs.
The testificate grins and grabs the empty bottle, “Now then. It should only take 3 more days before you’re capable to do physical activities, you could check around the town or just stay here. If you excuse me I have more patients to help, goodbye now!” He bows and exits the room for the final time.
“So, you guys wanna check out the place?” Steve says, “My… parents’ house is still here, after the fire they tried to rebuild it. All that’s left inside are keepsakes and old items.”
Cage and I nod, I have a feeling that today’s going to be an interesting one.
To be continued
Chapters will be released daily, the more feedback, the more motivation I get from making more

I really liked this. It was nice and descriptive (without being overly overdone), and the whole idea of the main character being a monster is very cool. The beginning reminds me slightly of the very beginning of the hunger games (bringing the game back and all.) The characters are great. I love it.
I was hoping that Steve would give a healing potion to Asher instead of an apple, because healing potions harm zombies and Asher might start to feel like Steve was trying to trick him, making the bond that I'm sure will build up eventually to be a little more unusual.
I really like this though, looking forward to the next chapter
I was thinking about that too!, maybe later Steve would actually do that accidentally
Also, thank you! As we are speaking Chapter 3 is about to finish
I've only yet read the 1st Chapter, but the whole 'change of feeling' with Asher was very engaging.
The spacing of his thoughts was very clever too!
Probably my favorite part, it is well described (not too much but not too little) and is easy for readers to understand.
I LOVE the concept of how life is for a zombie like him, I can relate to it too.

Great job, keep on keeping on! OnceInALongTime
Thank you! Your comment means a lot and I appreciate it
I'm thinking of making a sort of "Minecraft Tales & Creepy Pastas". You know, like fairy tales or short horror stories? But I need to make some drafts and see how it turns out.
Once again thank you so much for enjoying my novel, hope you read my next chapters!
Hello, I am TheMinecraftMeme12, and I will tell you a tale called...
What about you?”
“Steve… it’s Steve” he says.
It must taste weird; I wonder what will happen…
Suddenly, his scars fade, his cuts have disappeared and his bruises have been completely wiped out.
He gives a grin, “Well, golden nuggets, there’s no taste of metal in it though, trust me.”
I take a bite, suddenly a burst of energy flows inside me, I can’t describe it, but it’s like fresh air and whenever I take a bite, a part of me is regenerated again. The taste is sweet and scrumptious, just like an apple but it’s more crunchy and delicious. I eat slowly, enjoying every moment I have with it. My body becomes more and more energized and fulfilling. Sadly, I finished it all.
I wipe off the mess on the sides of my mouth, “That was the most epic thing I’ve tasted.”
I look at my arm, it’s not burned anymore.
…
…
…
…
Steve
enters in shortly.
The doctors don’t know though, they’ve never dealt with an injured
undead.” He chuckles softly, I roll my eyes at him.
The testificate comes back and fixes his glasses, he checks his watch and finally speaks,
“Well, we could say that Asher here will be doing alright.
“Hey, Asher… mind if you give Steve some space?” Cage interrupts, Steve looks at him, “No, no it’s
okay… I can tell him.”
He goes out of the room and shortly comes back, a newspaper in his hand. He hands it over to me.

Oooh boy, Sorry for the delay
Just polishing my work and it should be released pretty soon!
Oh, and hurrah for cliffhangers!
Chapter 6 on its way
I've only yet read the 1st Chapter, but the whole 'change of feeling' with Asher was very engaging.
