Well, gotta tell you this up front. You're my most trusted writing partner. Shadows of Reality has already been shortened twice. I may be canceling it entirely. Since all I'm adding is Nethros to Rift, I could easily put it "on hold". Forget the fact about wanting new chapters of Shadows of Reality and answer me this writer-to-writer:
Should I put it on hold or cancel it entirely? I've got an extreme case of writer's block on the series. But I've also got a new one planned. I got the prologue and Chapter One finished already. I want an answer on what you would do if you were in this situation.
Well... My other story, I had other ideas and when I was writing it, I didn't feel sparked. I'm sure your readers will want it on hold, but if you really do not want to continue it or you don't feel like the spark will come back, you should stop.

I think you should do what you want to, unless it makes tons of angry fans knock down your door and try to kill you, then you shouldn't do it, but I really like your books, and some other ones, but really, do what you want to, so long as it doesn't have dire consequences.
