Sorry for the short chapters, I have very little time to write. If you want to leave a comment, good or bad, I'll accept it, I learn from my errors and I enjoy doing a good work, so go ahead.
Yup, when I started making this I was a noob, I have made some changes to Chapter 2, so I recommend that if you already had read it, read it again, not completely necessary, just so you can get another thought of me and my knowledge about Minecraft, which has grown in the last months.
Yes, I know the prologue makes the story pretty obvious, sorry about that. But please, don't stop there, I have much more to offer in the latest chapters.
Prologue
It was midnight, Stephany had tried so hard to sleep, shifting position every five seconds, she could hear the zombies hitting her door over, and over, and over again.
She thanked Notch she wasn't in Hard difficulty.
The iron golems were gone now, they had fallen by the skeleton's arrows and could not be helped, as she only had a wooden sword.
Just sleep... It's just a bunch of zombies and skeletons...
As she tried to sleep, she looked out the glass pane in front of her eyes, she was laying sideways on the bed.
Out the glass pane, in the middle of the forest, she saw two white spherical lights.
She sat up, startled at such a sight, and picked up a book and quill where she had wrote down the updates of 1.4.6, she had seen this before, some glitch she thought, nope, no fix yet.
But as she looked back at the glass pane, the lights dissapeared, and a human figure, holding a diamond pickaxe, suddenly burst through the glass pane.
It flashed several times, emmiting a "FRRZZZ" sound, and she looked into it's eyes.
What she saw left her without breath.
Chapter 1.
"Steve!"
"Steve, wake up!"
"STEVE!"
Steve woke up slowly, and opened his eyes halfway, just to see Ben looking down at him.
"Steve!" shouted Ben, "We're late, come on! Izz is waiting for you at the Seed Choosing Grounds!"
Steve groaned slightly, and started to stand up from his comfortable bed.
"What time is it...?" Steve groaned.
"It is about 9:00 AM!"
Steve was startled at this, how come he had slept so much in a so important day?
"Come on!" Said Ben, and pulled Steve, still half asleep, all the way to the Seed Choosing Grounds.
Izz, of course, was waiting very paciently, for she had been waiting for this day since a month.
As Steve saw, the King walked up to his seat, in the top of the crowd.
"Today!" The king shouted, "Is one of the most significant days for our town!"
Steve's heartbeat started to accelerate, he knew what the King was going to say.
"Today, we will send two of our best survivalists, to the Brine seed!"
All the crowd gasped in terror, some cheered.
"These are Steve, and Izz!"
Now, the whole crowd started to cheer, it is obvious that they knew how Steve and Izz were, not a chance they didn't accomplish whatever mission the King gave them.
"Steve and Izz, walk up here, if you would."
Steve started ascending the stairs that ended beside the King's seat, as well as Izz, from the opposite side.
The King took both Izz's and Steve's arms, and raised them, like they were champions.
"Let them be victorious! Let them slay the Brine!"
All the crowd cheered.
Although Steve had heard of the terrifying Brine seed, he had never heard the term Brine as something, or someone.
Chapter 2.
The King looked down at the line where he had to write the name of the seed, and slowly wrote 'Brine'.
He was about to open the portal, when Steve ran down the stairs, headed for Ben.
"I'll be back shortly, dude, don't doubt it." said Steve.
"Just, don't die too much, that'll ruin your reputation." said Ben, and gave Steve a friendly hug.
"I won't." muttered Steve, and started ascending the stairs again.
"Alright, here is all the facts about the seed!" shouted the King, facing the crowd.
"The mode is Hardcore!"
The idea terrified Steve, what if he died? He would have to start his mission all over again!
"There is no bonus chest!"
That wasn't big deal for Steve, he had played millions of seeds with no bonus chests.
"The terrain is Large Biomes!"
That last thing bothered him, if he spawned in a Jungle biome, it would take him forever to get out of it.
"Of course, there is no cheats."
"And the last, and most terrifying... this is no normal Hardcore! There will not only be the well known "Game Over!" sign, ff you die, you will not come back, it will be actually DYING!"
Steve's eyes widened, Izz gasped in terror.
"Now, you two shall enter the Brine seed!"
Steve was terrified, he was about to run away from the portal.
"One, one last fact about the seed! You will spawn in a desert biome, you won't see any trees for 10000 blocks of distance, it is not known if they are either on North, East, West or South, so beware where you travel!"
No trees?! In that kind of terrain it is almost impossible to survive! I have to stay with Izz, if we separate, it will be completely impossible.
"Now, off you go!" said the King, and pushed them into the portal.
Steve was about to cry at the idea of the seed.
Chapter 3
Steve's world started to whirl around him, he felt like he was flying in the middle of nowhere at extremely high speeds, whirling like a tornado. He tried hard not to vomit, but it was impossible.
Then, he was suddenly there.
The Brine seed.
Steve began to walk around, he almost forgot about Izz, right behind him. She had a frown on her face.
"So, where do we go? North, East, West or South? We need to travel 10000 blocks of distance, we should get going." said Izz.
Steve gasped and regained consciousness, then slowly faced Izz.
"I think we should go North, I think I see some snow from here, I hate to be in this desert biome."
"Maybe, but there's ocean at the South, I see it. We could get some fish."
Steve was surprised at how Izz had surpassed him in intelligence at that time. How couldn't he had thought about that?
You're just completely stupid, Steve...
They started heading South, keeping an eye on their coordinates.
Then, their coordinates started flashing and finally dissapeared.
"Huh? Why can't I see my coordinates, what did just happen?" said Izz.
"I can't see them either, something wrong is going on."
"Probably just an error in the client, let's keep going." said Izz, with a slight tone of leadership.
Steve wasn't good in teamwork, he had always played in single player, he decided to let Izz take charge.
"My hunger bar is starting to go down, let's keep going."
There was just a little problem.
"But, how will we catch fish without rods?"
That last commentary startled Izz.
"Oh, well, uhm..."
They had nowhere to go, and there were not any critters around.
The idea of dying hit Steve hard.
Chapter 4
Steve was starting to starve, it was already 6:00 PM and he hadn't found any food or tree, he had already travelled 1000 blocks of distance alongside Izz, it was never-ending.
He was walking beside her, she had a look on her face like she was not there.
Then, it started to darken.
Izz looked up in fright and rapidly squeezed her finger against her lips to silence any noice Steve could have been making, then slowly held up her hand.
Steve looked around, and saw nothing, he walked away from Izz for about 15 blocks.
He could see a cave from here, there were skeletons and zombies inside. He wouldn't survive without any tools.
As he looked at the cave, a loud, high-pitched scream was heard, along with a explosion.
Then it struck him.
A creeper.
It had exploded beside Izz.
He ran up to where Izz was lying in the crater, trashing around in a nervous tic.
He walked down the sand and got on his knees, and slowly picked up her head from the cold sand, in panic he put his head against her chest to make sure her heart was beating.
She still had time, he just needed something to eat for her to recover.
But it had to be fast.
Very fast.
He ran up to the cave where he had seen the zombies and skeletons and slowly hid behind a smooth stone wall.
With a burst of will, he rushed inside.
He felt something penetrate his skin on his left shoulder with tremendous strenght, but he made a huge effort to ignore it and push the attacker into a death hole, as he staggered in consecuence to the pain, he crouched and hit a zombie's leg, making it trip.
As the zombie tripped, he punched it until it stopped moving and threw it's dead body into 2 more zombies, which were the last ones, and they fell into the death hole the skeleton had fallen into.
The corpse of the zombie he had killed didn't fall, though.
As he was recovering from the fight, he noticed the zombie he killed had scratched his neck and the pain in his shoulder was a skeleton's arrow.
With very little energy, he took the corpse and started gathering rotten flesh.
He walked out of the cave and started heading for the crater where Izz lay, nearly dead.
He had at least 5 pieces of rotten flesh, he grabbed one and put it into Izz' mouth.
She had a disliked look on her face, but he fed her another one.
She must have contracted food poisoning, Steve thought, but at least she will get better.
Steve was relieved to see her breath normally again.
Chapter 5.
Steve didn't even notice he had fallen asleep, but when he woke up it must have been about 3:00 AM.
He was lying in the sand on Izz's side, who was still unconscious.
He stood up, wondering why not even one mob had attacked him in his sleep. He slowly walked away from Izz, now turning around to see if she was safe each once in a while, after some time he took out some rotten flesh and started munching it down, it wasn't very tasty, but it was all he had up to that moment.
He slowly patrolled the area, keeping an eye out for any forest or any lonely tree.
He couldn't believe the situation he was in, no food, no trees, no critters.
No hope.
Then, he finally remembered something.
The skeleton.
It's bow.
He slowly moved up to Izz and lifted her, slowly carrying her on his back.
He approached the cave where he had killed the zombies and the skeleton, and slowly entered, leaving Izz leaned on the wall just in the cave's entrance.
Nervously, he looked down to see how deep the hole was, it must've been at least 20 blocks.
He made his way out of the cave, looking for a block to use to make a path down.
All he could see was sand.
He gathered at least 19 blocks, exactly what he needed, and slowly placed them to make his path down.
He slowly walked up to the dead skeleton and took it's bow and arrows.
And then, he thought he was in heaven for a second.
There was a path full of wooden planks and different tunnels to different directions.
At the end of the tunnel he saw a small room made out of mossy cobblestone, in it's center was a skeleton spawner, and behind that, a chest.
An abandoned mineshaft.
He slowly started gathering the precious wooden planks, he had forgotten how wood felt.
He made a crafting table, then a wooden pickaxe, he gathered cobblestone, then made a stone pickaxe and a stone shovel, he found some coal in a wall, gathered it and made torches, then made a furnace, found iron, made an iron sword and pickaxe, fought with skeletons in the cobblestone room, destroyed the spawner and took some golden ingots, a saddle and 3 apples from the chest.
This obviously was heaven.
Their survival had just been given a twist.
Chapter 6
Steve woke up, how long had he slept? He started to gather everything he had achieved to get while being down there, gathered a few extra stacks of wood, and slowly started walking to the exit of the mineshaft.
He sighted a spider and rapidly killed it with his iron sword, and started ripping out it´s precious string.
Steve had gotten quite a few bows from the skeleton spawner, as well as 27 arrows, which he had to protect with his life.
Wearing his newly-made full iron armor, whose iron had been cooking through Steve´s sleep, he passed right through a zombie, allowing his arms to just stab it and keep walking.
He took out the sand he used to come down, and now used it to go up.
He was about to leave the cave, when he remembered Izz.
Where was she?
He looked around for at least half an hour, she found no traces of her.
He gave up and sat down against the wall.
20 minutes later, he saw her walking into the cave.
"How long have you been here, Steve?"
"At least 50 minutes, looking for you"
"I can protect myself, you know."
"I know."
"So what happened in your interesting stay down there?"
Yup, when I started making this I was a noob, I have made some changes to Chapter 2, so I recommend that if you already had read it, read it again, not completely necessary, just so you can get another thought of me and my knowledge about Minecraft, which has grown in the last months.
