This book is about two adventurers from the Brendal tribe. If you are reading this the world of Aglas is still free.
One day, two rebels named Avis and Caper escaped public execution for a crime they did not commit. They escaped one day and never returned. They are rebels and supposed to be killed on sight.
This is the tale of Avis Lessigi and Caper Woodsworth, and how they redefined history.
Chapter One: Prosecution “State your names” stated the military man. Avis and Caper stood on the execution stage quietly. “I said state your names!” shouted the military man. “Avis Lessigi” said Avis “and Caper Woodsworth” said Caper, who picked up where Avis left off. “And what crime did you commit?” asked the military man. “Uh.... treason?” said Caper, with a puzzled look on his face.
“Yes, treason. And treason upon our great nation is punishable by death, Do you have any last words to say?” asked the military man. “Yes, I would like to state some words” said Avis. “Then speak, criminal” said the military man, gruffly. “I’d like you all to know that our deaths will not be in vain. I would like to state that we have not committed treason against this nation, or any nation.” shouted Avis to the crowd of people, “We have been falsely persecuted, it wasn’t us! And I’d go to the Nether before I get killed by you sons of Herobrine” shouted Caper.
“Alright, alright, thats enough” shouted the military man, then said “take your places on the stand.” Caper remembered his training and looked at Avis with an insightful look in his eye. Avis knows what this means. It means that they had a plan. An impromptu plan, but it might work. Avis was to be executed first. He heard the click, then a scream.
It was the scream of the military man. Avis looked up and saw the military man on the ground, covered with cuts and bruises. He then saw Caper, holding the military man’s sword and running. Avis naturally followed him, they’ve been doing this since they first met. One or the other would lead the escape and the other would follow in suit. They weren’t outlaws really but more... rebels now.Caper led Avis to a building where they could hide from the military. Once the military went by the snuck to the other side of town, out of a tunnel to a cave they had built as a hidey hole a long time ago.
Avis covered up the hole quickly while Caper dug furiously. Avis asked “Where are we going?” Caper replied “Away from here.” “But what about our families?” asked Avis “We’ll figure something out, but for now, they’ll have to assume that we're dead.” replied Caper
Chapter Two: Journey The two companions sat with their backs against the tunnel wall. Avis brushed some dirt off of his now dirty white sweatpants. “Seriously, I got these things just yesterday.” He mumbles under his breath. “Heh, tell me about it. At least you aren’t the one in a tuxedo.” Avis looked over at Caper. “Why do you wear that anyways? Everytime I see you it’s white suit with gold embroidery and a bowtie.” Caper huffed indignantly. “Bowties are cool.”
“Alright break over, we need to get diggin’ up soon otherwise we’ll never hit the surface.” says Avis hefting his pickaxe. “Good point, I can’t hardly wait to see what’s up there, we’ve been digging for longer than I’ve ever done before.”
The next hour and a half was constant hacking at a never ending sea of stone with simple wooden pickaxes. The tunnel was sloping gradually upwards. Eventually after a long while Avis finally hit what they were aiming for, dirt. Surface dirt! If you’ve been stuck in a cave for nearly 48 hours doing nothing but digging nonstop you’d be happy too.
This was high quality dirt too. Caper grabbed a chunk and licked it “Hey this is CackDeap dirt if I’m not mistaken!” Avis sighed. “Did you have lick it?” Avis asked. “Yes, thats how you test dirt for its quality, if it’s good it tastes just like raisins.” Caper replied. They started to dig up into the dirt when they hit water. “Water, why does it always have to be water?” says Caper. “Seriously, you are just full of it today aren’t you.” says Avis blocking up the hole. “What?” Caper replies, with mock seriousness though he knew exactly what Avis was peeved about.
They dug a bit to the side and dug up knowing the usual layout of farms and gardens. Caper popped his head out of the dirt with a plant on his head. He was facing the wall of from what he could tell was a house. “Hmm, what are the odds?” Caper mused to himself. His head turned around just to find someone was standing there at the edge of the garden tapping her foot. “Why hello there!” Caper said in a chipper tone to the person standing in front of him.
Chapter Three: D.I.R.T. “What the heck do you think you’re doing?” yelled the female in front of them “I just planted that!”
“Well hello to you too, miss?” said Caper “Eve, my name’s Eve” She replied slightly icily. “Well Eve, we are in a sort of predicament” said Avis. “Really? You think you’ll solve this by digging up my garden?” replied Eve.”Not exactly.... you see, we’re being persecuted for a crime we didn’t really commit.” said Avis. “And what makes you think I should help you?” replied Eve. Caper sighed and said “Potatoes and Pork Chops”
“How do you know about the order?” replied Eve. “What are you saying, what is she saying” said Avis who was now completely. “Ha! I can’t believed that worked!” Caper muttered. “Just go with it, I’ll tell you once you help us out of this hole.”
“Well, I might as well just let the two of you stay. You obviously are too incompetent to be left on your own” said Eve. “Thank you.” replied Caper rather sarcastically.
Eve helped the two of them out of the hole and they brushed themselves off. Once they were out of the hole they walked around to the front of the house and Eve motioned for them to go ahead and head on in. Caper and Avis looked inside. Inside there was 2 crafting tables, 2 furnaces, 2 double chest and 3 beds.
“Yes, I know, it’s not much but it’s home for now at least.” replied Eve. “So, tell me about how you know of the order.” asked Eve. “Well to be perfectly honest I just kinda spouted out random words hoping something would work.” Caper confused. Eve replied “Ah, I see. Well there’s nothing I can do about that. Well since I told you about the order now I guess I’ll have to explain now”
“Order? What’s going on?” said Avis. “It our secret guild, we are people working against the government.” replied Eve. “Ya, I think we’ve been doing just that long enough to understand what’s going on here.” said Caper.
“Okay, what is this guild then?” asked Avis skeptically. “We go by many names, but mainly we are called D.I.R.T.” replied , Eve who then said “That’s all I feel like answering right now but you’ll find out more later. Because you two now know about it though you have two choices, die or join.”
