It had been a week since our little run in with our new neighbors, and I haven’t seen Herobrine anywhere. I was quite worried, but today I had promised to play with Jack at the central park in our village. I was watching him play, it’s simply fantastic how young children live so worry free and turn any simple thing into a toy. To be honest I envied him a little. But I got the feeling of cold dead eyes on my back, and when I turned I couldn't help but let out a scream.
“Dammit Herobrine! Don't sneak up on people like that, it's very rude!” A confused face flashed across him, he look disappointed in himself; “I tried to make more noise when I walked, but I do apologize. I bear exiting news. We must set off on another adventure soon! “ I was about to let him have a piece of my mind, disappearing for a week and suddenly expecting me to go on an adventure, but Jack let out a squeal and gave him a flying hug. “Ah, hello young sir! Having a bit of play today I see?” Jack rushed over to show him every one of his many toys, smiling and in between a few “Whoa!”s and “Very good”s he looked at me and said; “We are going to pay Steve a little visit.” This man got on my nerves a lot, but he always finds a way to make me forget all of that. Steve, I was very excited. One of the oldest people of this world still alive, one of the very few survivors of the nether war!
I was leaning against the main gate waiting for her, when I saw her hurry down the brick road. You could see the excitement in her walk. I'm surprised she didn't trip over herself. “Hi Herobrine!” “Hello ma'am” She put her diamond sword on her back, and stamped her foot; “So you've meet Steve before?” I wish I shared her excitement. “Yes, once before. It wasn't pleasant to say the least.” I had really hit it now, she talked so fast I'm surprised she didn't trip over her own words. “What?! What happened? Are you two enemies? Is he an evil person? Did he hurt you? Did you hurt him? Di-“ I held a hand up a hand and whispered “Calm” and she took a much needed deep breath. “He believes in a legend of his time, about me they presume. That I'm some harbinger of death that I'm something to be feared, and killed on sight. We got into a fight. Both bloody and broken I ran away, I couldn't kill him because he misunderstood me. Knowing him he took it as a sign of weakness. I will never forget that glowing sword he had. I don't know how but it throws you back violently when it hits you.” She looked concerned; “So it glows like your sword does?” “Yes, but mine doesn't throw stuff back, it always cuts through” She put on her thinking face for a few moments.
“Then why are we going to visit him? I don't wish for you two to fight…” I put my hand on her shoulder, forcing her to look me in the eyes “I promise to do everything in my power to prevent any conflict, if anyone is to know about this portal those people are building, it has to be him. He may not like me, but he is a smart man and a damn good strategist.” Her expression softened, but I could still see concern. She looked up and asked “Where does he live?” “A couple thousand blocks to our south.” “I've never been past the ocean, what is there?” I couldn't help but smile, one of my favorite places. “A jungle. His castle is on the tallest mountain, with his village scattered through the tallest trees.”
After 5 maddening days in the ocean, we finally saw the jungle. I had never been to one before; it has such huge thick trees and vines everywhere! It was about time too, what little food we could bring was almost gone now, and it's nice to see something other than blue. We landed on its long beach, and tied our boats up. I turned around to find a small spotted orange animal looking up at me. “That is an ocelot, looks like he wants some fish from you.” I bent down to it, but it took a few frightened steps back; “I'm sorry little one, I don't have any fish with me…” It took a few curious sniffs, and bolted away with wicked speed.
Herobrine chuckled. “What's so funny?” “Every time someone new comes to this place, it always seems the same ocelot is there to curiously greet the new comers and run away. Same thing happened to me, and a few other people I've seen.” He sighed, and looked up at the trees with great pleasure. “Where is Steve's castle?” He pulled out his sword, took of his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. “500 blocks this way milady. Dead center of this island.” And with a few swings of his sword, we were on our way through the thick brush.
I couldn't help but wonder; “How long has Steve been here?” “Hmm. I'll be honest I'm not sure, as far I could place him to the extent of my knowledge is before the nether war. But how long I do not know.” “What does he look like?” “Actually a lot like me. Short brown hair with a mustache. He normally has a plain blue shirt and some blue jeans.” “He sounds like an average man.” He looked over his shoulder at me and smiled a bit “Don't let that fool you. He is a brilliant builder and a very skilled digger”
I was a bit confused; “How do you know so much about him, from what I gather you guys had that fight and that was it.” “Some of the survivors rescued me. I was just suddenly here; fire was everywhere and holes all over the landscape. It was hard to move without tripping over a body and saying I was confused is an understatement. They all looked up to Steve, and followed him. I observed him from a distance, and to this day I still try to be half the man he is. But after a while he came to meet me face to face. And then the fight broke out, and all of the people who were becoming my friends attacked me on sight. I wonder if any of them are still here…”
After a day and a half of hacking and slashing through this jungle, I saw the caste. It was an old relic from before the nether war, and it was obvious he had done some upgrading. But one thing puzzled me; it looked like there were half blocks, and quarter blocks, corners and thin sticks too used in its reconstruction instead of the normal blocks all around. It had a massive tower in the left corner that looked rounded due to these new blocks. There were a few other towers ranging from square ones to round ones. But not a single one was as impressive as the massive round one towering over everything. Even the jungle looks small and trivial to this castle.
I could see the awe in Jesse's face as well, and soon we found a massive brick road snaking up the mountain to the castle. Along the way it had statues made with those odd blocks, there was skeleton, those ghastly creepers, and an odd creature. It had a long neck, stood on 4 legs with a massive body and even bigger wings. The statute seemed to stare right at me, and for a moment I thought I saw some purple in its eyes. Jesse's head was flying from side to side, frantically trying to soak everything in. It was quite entertain to watch, but as the giant tower grew closer my concern grew deeper. “Could you do something for me, Jesse?”
As if snapping out of a trance, she said “Of course, anything.” I took a moment for the right words to form; “I would like to keep my eyes out of sight, and not talk. At least until we reach Steve. Could you do the talking for now please?” She gave a reassuring smile; “Sure, I understand.” Some guards above the gate asked us our business, and Jesse said an old friend needs to ask Steve about something. And surprisingly enough that seemed to satisfy the guard. He opened the gate and led us up hundreds of stairs to the top of the tower. I hadn't seen this before, but now it's clear. This was one of the most powerful kings castle before the war, for in a giant stone chair lavished with brilliant red wool sat Steve, reading a piece of paper. To his left was a massive balcony overlooking the entire castle. And to his right was the biggest collection of books I had ever seen.
Steve looked up from his paper, and saw Jesse. “It seems I have a lovely guest in my manor, what brings you he-“And that's when he saw me. I knew he instantly recognized me. Shock and fear had caused him to drop his paper, but soon pure anger I could feel rocked his body. With a forceful Stomp on the floor a glowing diamond sword fell from the ceiling into his hand. Behind us a mass of guards in all iron armor filled our exit with incredible speed and order.
I was sad, for my fear had come true. But then I focused on his sword, it was blood stained. There was no mistake, he never used that sword or bothered to clean it until he saw me again. Now I was brimming with anger, and he pieced together what I had found out. A very devilish smile rippled across his face. A small cloud of dust shot from behind his feet, and in the next instant he was above me. As I saw his muscles tense, and bring the sword down with all their might I couldn't help but wonder. Why couldn't I move?
