I am a member of AMCWAS (A Minecraft Community Without A Server), and for our first project, we all started a single player world using the seed beowulf. We share our progress in our worlds on the AMCWAS forums with lots of screenshots.
You can find our clan page on the MC Forums here, and the website where you sign up is here, or you can click on my signature, and it will take you there. I hope to see some new people sign up. Anyways.
In my single player world, I am creating villages and in addition to that, am working on fictional characters that live in those villages. My main focus has been a village built into the mountains named Merris. I've been having a lot of fun coming up with characters (NPC's if you will) that live there. An overall plot is slowly being worked on but right now, all I have are some rough descriptions of a handful of characters as well as some concept art of what they may look like.
I have yet to see anything like what I am doing posted in the forums somewhere, so thought it would be fun to share what I have been doing with everyone here, and it doesn't hurt to advertise AMCWAS which is always looking for new members.
So without further ado, let me introduce you to some of the inhabitants of Merris:
Bellatrude Douterre
The mayor of Merris. Bella is the great great grand daughter of the founder of Merris and does her best to ensure the town's well being.
Mortimer Douterre
Bellatrude's husband, a grim old man that was once a pirate but changed his ways when Bella stole his heart. (he even went as far as to dye his hair blue just to please her.) They are happily married with three grown children.
Markus Douterre:
Morris Douterre:
He's a bit of a misfit and outcast. Morris has a great fondness for Creepers and many consider Morris a threat to the town because of it. His family struggle to understand him, save for his sister Marilize.
Marilize Douterre:
A young woman of few words, Marilize spends most of her time in the wilderness, hunting or tending to injured animals. She would do well in the guard, or as a veterinarian, yet appears to have no real ambitions in life. Marilize is very protective of her family, especially the oft ridiculed and bullied Morris.
Lucinda Lumiere:
The owner of Lulu's cafe. She's very spunky and prone to good natured mischief. Lulu is well known for her experimental recipes for cupcakes (often free samples are given to test them). She and the baker next door have a fierce pastry rivalry, and the town of Merris is split down the middle about who makes the best sweets.
Harold Dinkle (art pending):
The no nonsense, traditionalist baker of Loaf and Pound Bakery. He likes to boast about the Dinkles baking bread in the Merrisian mountains long before the town was founded and will not hear otherwise. He's a large, fierce man who is easily disgruntled. He was already obsessed with his craft, but when his wife died due to illness he stayed in the bakery so long he often fell asleep in the back room.
Hester Hardy:
The eldest of the Hester family and milk maid, Hester is a hard working girl with a very timid, shy personality. She's long been enamored with Markus Douterre, but he always has a large crowd of admirers with him so Hester keeps her distance. She doubts the town hero would want anything to do with her. If only she knew the truth...
That's it so far! There is a very vague plot and such but I would rather not share that until it's more concrete. I plan to write snippets of character backstory and some fun dialogue in books and scatter them in chests about the town for fun. I am curious as to what you guys think. The artwork is very rough and unpolished, but I hope it helps give an idea of what the characters may look like and maybe even show a hint of personality.
